Who is Red John?

Theories of d666q_3 (25)

Not a theory just a partial observation. I think the coded message is fake through and through.

The reason for my suspicion is the following. Cho, Rigbsy and Van Pelt were searching the wrong room!

When we see Bertram walking to his storage space we see that they are numbered. He is walking to what must be space number 14. We can also see that storage space 12 is opposite space number 20. It follows that 13 is either opposite 19 or 21 and 14 opposite 18 or 22.

When the three are searching we can see that the opposite storage has the number 21. Therefore the 3 are finding the coded message in store 13 not in 14 that Bertram used before.

Kirkland twin seen!

In my mind Bob Kirkland has been one of the most mysterious characters on the show other than JJ LaRoche. There is very little known about him. He has been lingering in the back ground since season 5 and just as his role becomes more active he mentions his twin Michael and get killed never to be seen again.

Some of his actions don't seem to make sense at all. He is represented as a man hunting Red John and then he goes on to kill Jason Lennon without any real interrogation.

For some time now i have been convinced that establishing a very detailed time line will be an important element in order to solve the unanswered questions we are still left with.

I have now stumbled upon something I consider an important switch in time. This reversal changes a lot of context and convinced me that we must have seen both Kirkland twins already.

At the beginning of 601 we meet Partridge on the beach, where he states that judging by decomposition the victim must have died around 18 months ago. From Van Pelt we learn the identity of the victim and that he has been reported missing in August 2011. This puts the time of the episode in Jan/Feb 2013.

In 604 Hightower fakes her death to hide from Red John. Jane learns from Van Pelt that Hightower died 2 weeks ago in Mexico. Shortly after that he visits Hightowers aunt and leaves a message on the memorial site. The memorial site lists the date of death as July 15th 2012! There is a virtual flower left August 7th and he meets Hightower the same evening.

and the kidnapping happens one day after. As Kirkland dies on his way to either prison or jail it is safe to assume he died in August 2012. The list of suspects is mentioned several times in that episode. At the end Jane proclaims we are down to 5 suspects. Ergo the dvd must have come out at the latest in August 2012 and since Lorelei died 2 months before the dvd she must be dead at least since june 2012.

Since Partidge was alive in 2013 his death can't be the fact that excludes the second suspect.

Here is the crazy part and the reason why i believe we have seen both Kirklands:

518 is called "Behind the Red Curtain" and in addition to the main case focuses on the situation arround the comatose Jason Lennon (remember the conspiracies arround John Lennons death?). At the end of that episode Kirkland kills Lennon. In that scene we get a look at the heart rate monitor. In the upper left corner there it shows us the date and time. It 19:16 and the date is February 11 th 2013!

Earlier in this episode Kirkland and Jane meet in the hospital. Kirkland asks Jane why he is in the hospital. With a smirk he relpies that his aunt daphne is in room 10 with liver failure caused by her alcoholism. With the correct timeline we can now see why Jane really smiles. He just landed a punch based on information he got in the cabin half a year earlier.

Now some people might wanna argue that the dates mentioned in those two episodes were not meant as clues, but simple oversights. In the case of 518 that might be somewhat plausible, even though the there is nothing else in the shot except that monitor so it would be a very big flaw, especially if you consider how carefull they have been otherwise to avoid any specific dates.

For 604 it's even more unlikly because the page was fabricated only for this show and the date shown lies before the actual filming of the episode.

Since one Kirkland twin is already dead since August 2012 it must be the other twin killing Lennon.

Some time ago i posted about a couple of weird things indicating that the location of Green Thumb wasn't New York, but LA.  If you want to take a look:

http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/16938

Now in Golden Hammer It's happening again.

There are clear indicators that the location is LA not Houston.

The very first scene includes the sign of Tesoro del Valle and the Streetsign Avenue 23. These two eviromental markers allow us pinpoints the scene of the car crash on the bridge where Humoldt street crosses the Golden State Freeway:

The second thing manifesting the LA location is the Grand Park, the pink park benches and the water fountain the suspect tries to flee through are both signature landmarks of LA Grand Park:

Funny fact Grand Park is only a 14 min walk away from the Pico House, which was used as the outside set for the CBI Headquaters.

In the past episode titles could sometimes be linked to movie titles with somewhat simluar plots for example:

609 My Blue Haven: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0100212/?ref_=nv_sr_2

An all too uptight FBI agent must protect a larger than life mobster
with a heart of gold, currently under witness protection in the suburbs.

Now what pops up as a movie title for Golden Hammer?

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1833657/?ref_=fn_tt_tt_1

Shiver me timbers! Bob the Builder™ and his Top Team have moved to
Fixham Harbor for a swashbuckling new adventure. Spud and Scrambler
learn about the legend of Pirate Brickbeard's Golden Hammer, a treasure
that he has hidden in their new town. The team must follow the clues to
find its location. Can they find it? Yes, they can! All hands on deck
for a treasure trove of mystery and fun!

Not a real theory, but i wanted to point out some curious paralells:

In 407 the obsessed blogger James Panzer turns out to be the San Joaquin Killer. There are obvious paralells between Jane and Panzer. The names alone: Ja.Pa. vs Pa.Ja. Now Jane used Haibach to lure out SJK. Haibach is a simple minded sexual perverted that doesn't have the brains for a supervillain. McAllister is quite simular in that aspect.

Listen to their conversation with Red John and the season 6 events in mind. I find it very spooky.

In my mind there is a high probablilty the "He is mar" clue is a fake. Here is the reasoning:

Renfrew is supposed to have his infos about RJ trough Orville Tanner. In S01E11 Van Pelt alleges that they were cellmate 7 years ago. Now what time is seven years ago?

Jane
and Van Pelt meet for the first time in the pilot so any episode
including Van Pelt must be later than that. We also get a glimpse of Wagners patient calender for Alison
Price. It has entries for 08 so we are at least in that year. Even if we disregard the entry in the calender, there is another exact
point in time. In S01E10 when Jane picks up the call of sophie miller
the date reads 08/28/08.

Since it is Van Pelt reading the info about Tanner and Renfrew we can't be earlier than 2008, therefore the seven year reference can only mean 2001.

S01E23 delivers an other pretty accurate point in time. When Chow and Rigsby question the store owner who sold the elephant they mention Thanksgiving last year and that it lies 5 months in the past. The security tape is stamped 11/27/08, therfore S01E23 happens around April-May 2009.

At the end of the season finale Dumar asks Jane if he knows who Orville Tanner is. Jane replies that Orvilles was an accomplice of Red John who got caught and died in prison 10 years ago. Dumar confirms that.

It is 2009 so Orville died 1999 in prison. It is therefore impossible he could have shared a cell with Renfrew in 2001. It is further impossible in 2001 to share infos about a murder taking place 2003.

4 very weird facts about Patrick Jane.

When i started rewatching the show along with a friend of mine i was astonished how many details i had missed in the past, especially in the Pilot.

1. ) Double diary

The Tolliver case ends by Juniper shooting Morgan. The only thing supporting Janes claim that Mr. Tolliver killed his daughter is a diary. In the second case of Alison Price+ Gregory Tannen he uses a fake diary to trap Linus Wagner. Now if the first diary was a fake as well it could change everything.

Jane fabricates the diary in a night session in a 24h diner while drinking coffee!
He finishes just after Rigsby and Van Pelt walk in the next morning.
It's a pretty thick book and it took time a lot of time to fill all those pages. That way to much work just for a simple gag, especially considering how lazy Patrick usually is. With that being said it seem not to far fetched to suspect he filled the thing with his thoughts and that it was more about his need to write stuff down than preparing a clever punchline. We get a few glimpses and the stuff written down is simply mad.
It's mathematical equation something resembling a double helix and the curved blade Red John uses. There is a full page with nothing but the sentence: "You know you did it." A part can be seen while in the diner an other part when Wagner looks at it.

2.) Long talk
The talk Jane has with Wagner seems short because it is interrupted by the flashback and the case developing. Before Jane is shown talking to Wagner we get to see the building with people walking in. Judging by the way the shadows fall it can't be to long after midday. Through the window of the room the two talk in we can see the trees outside. Before Wagner signs the prescription we see the building again. Night has fallen and people are walking out. So the two must have been talking for hours, but all we know is the "fake?" Johnny Cash storry.

3. Double Car

Jane is known for driving the iconic Citroën DS. The curious thing about that is that he has two versions of that car. Usually he is seen in a version with grey surrounding the two headlights and the license plate 258 PCE. But for example in S01E17 Carnelian Inc. he drives a different model with two seperate Headlights on each side and the license plate  536 DQN.

4. Double Red Smiley

This one i just noticed recently and i was realy stunned. In the flashback we see Jane walking up the stairs to find the letter taped to the door. When opens the door the we see the red smilie. The shot includes the Janes shoulder, the back of his head a fallen lamp and a vase on something like a low book case. The view is fairly straight through the door.  The very end of the episode there is a very simular scene. Jane enters the now empti house drops the mail at the same place and walks up the same stairs. When he is about to enter the camera cuts to his shoes walking on carpet diagonaly through the room to the mattress in the corner next to the window. He sits and the camera zooms in until he lies down. As it moves up the wall it shows a faded red smiley that looks identical to the first one we saw in the flashback.
However it is a different smiley because the location is not correct. In the flashback shot there is enough space on the right of it for at least 2 or 3 more in the second shot there isn't. Also he walks over diagonally and we can even make out a corner of that low book case in down left corner as he walks.
