THE THEORIES

Several reasons why he is RJ:

-He has many names: Laroche, Red John, Otis...
-He took a kid for a deer and shot him with no mercy. That can only be done by a heartless killer.
-Later, he died eaten by the walkers.
-As he is dead now, he can murder Jane's happy memories without breaking the law

It's interesting to see that on The Mentalist Wikia and other fansites that they are rooting for Bertram, Partridge or La Roche as Red John. (I honestly loved the character La Roche) Ray Haffner what is obviously the prime suspect on this site is scoring very low on those sites.

I just have a strong feeling that after the next episode people are going to doubt and make theories of another person. And this person will get the majority of the plausible votes.

Kudo's for The Mentalist writing team they are doing a good job to mind fuck the majority, excuse my French lol.

<== just because. :)

With the amount of hype leading into this, is anyone else afraid this whole RJ finale/reveal is going to be anti-climactic? (In other words, suck?) I have really gotten into this show in the last few years and the whole Moriarty-esque RJ storyline. I really hope they have done it justice and don't pull some canned Deus ex machina b.s. Keeping my fingers crossed we get a proper RJ finale! (Because if we get Bobby Ewing in the shower, I'm boycotting CBS!!) :)

I'm would guess that Red John isn't on the list, it would be too easy too little of a reveal.  My money is on Laroche for a couple of reasons,

* If I was the director I would want to introduce the Red John casually on the show pretty early, around season 1
2-3 to make it a big reveal later on, LaRoche was introduced in season 3, so that fits

* You'd assume that the actor cast as Red John would have to be someone who could really pull off the gravitas of a serial killer mastermind. Only Laroche and possible Kirkland,Bret Stiles really comes to mind. But if I would cast the most wicked actor possible for the role it would sure be Pruitt Taylor Vince, those twitchy eyes are just down right creepy and he played the role very well before (in for instance Identity)

* It can't be someone on the team, that would just be stupid. I have a heard time seeing Van Pelt gave the time to run around working as a police *and* being a criminal mastermind

* Works for law enforcement so he has knowledge and insider information

* Ok this one is iffy, but Roche means "is celtic for uncertain origin" and French for "rock" it also seems to have something to do with red wine, I wouldn't be surprised if the name LaRoche is some clever play of words with Red John.

Runner up for me would have to be Bret Stiles, as a leader of Visualize he sure has the resources, has the age, the gravitas and one of the few who can give Jane's wit a run for his money.

Picture of JJ because I really enjoyed his character on the show. Would be awesome to see another appearance by him!

But.. I just wanted to say I'm loving these theories. I read a theory and I'm convinced it's, let's say, Haffner. As I scroll down I question myself and read another theory. I then start to believe it's Stiles. Then someone mentions a very creative theory on Partridge. I even find myself believing the theories on Mashburn! It just builds on the excitement! What other show has this much discussion about the plot? (nearly 8,000 theories)

Bravo!

Keep the theories coming!
