LATEST THEORIES

1) For the Partridge friends -- It can't be him because he's wrapped in plastic.  I think Cho would have noticed if it wasn't Partridge.

2) Bertram is a bad man, but I don't think he's RJ although he is my obvious #2 suspect.

3) The shots we see of RJ in this episode look more like McAlister.

4) As I've said for a few weeks, McAllister is the only character with a listed age for his character that doesn't just assume the age of the actor playing him.

5) He's been there from the start.

Arguments for Bertram -- he was there in the mall with Jane (we were told we would see RJ), but we were also told we would catch a glimpse of RJ and that seemed like more than a glimpse.

6) Bertram doesn't seem crafty enough to be RJ where as the Sheriff does seem crafty enough.

Not a theory, just some thoughts and questions after watching "The Great Red Dragon":

Well, quite disappointing episode it was, wasn't it?
Though Bertram now indeed seems to be the man (at least the head of TT), I'm still not so sure about him being Red John. IMHO, a few questions remain to be answered in the upcoming episode:

1. Why the hell are McAllister, Stiles and Haffner all three "burned to crisp" while not even being in the same place at the moment of the explosion? After all, Smith and Bertram are well alive - tough luck on McAllister being burned to ashes, despite standing right next to them at that very second...
Furthermore, I find it highly unlikely that Heller kills off two important characters such as Stiles and Haffner like that.

2. Why would Bertram want to kill Jane in his sleep, if he really was Red John? Sure, Jane at that moment is the only person besides Smith knowing about Bertram's tattoo...but still, as one can see, Smith is real quick at surrendering to the CBI when being threatened by TT. If he would have been caught after Jane's death, he still could've told everyone about Bertram's tattoo. Also: I don't think that Red John would simply cut Jane's throat in panic with Lisbon almost catching him in the act. For me, it doesn't fit the character in two ways - neither would Red John be that incautious, nor would he kill his arch enemy in such a dishononarable manner. (He could have done that every night for a few years now, knowing where Jane lives and sleeps ;))

3. Why didn't we get to see Partridge's face? I don't really think that he's alive anymore but it was a bit strange nonetheless.

4. What is Bertram's list supposed to mean?

5. What's the big deal about that tea cup? "My favourite tea cup" - really? Doesn't it appear a bit off that Jane pretends to care all that much about a tea cup all of a sudden, despite being as close to Red John as never before? When he entered that room, he didn't seem to think about "letting go". After he was told what was happening and having his precious tea cup broken, he stopped, as if something struck his mind. Which leads me to the last question...

6. Why does Jane go to church in the last scene? He doesn't strike me as the typical religious guy at all, not believing in any kind of superficial or esoteric stuff. Is he waiting there for someone? Does he hope to find someone? Is he mourning his tea cup? I don't know.

As one can see, this episode somewhat asked more questions than it answered. If Red John really turns out to be Bertram in next week's episode, they better should deliver an awesome explanation for this and all the other remaining questions. The Mentalist and it's otherwise well-crafted Red John storyline deserve more than a plain "Yeah, whatever, bald guy did it all" in my eyes.

My guess after watching the 6x08 promo is McAllister, by the way.

Greetings from Germany, stayed up all night to watch the latest episode :P

So it does look like McAllister crashing through a window in the promo. The stills look pretty clear on that. I don't beleive we can guess RJ by anything in the promo tho.

Of out 7 suspects it seems Partridge and Kirkland are the most dead, Bertram and Reed were already teased as RJ in ep 7 and for my money thus ruled out as the big reveal in ep 8. Everything in ep 7 screams Bertram is not RJ. This means that one of the "dead" guys from the explosion would be RJ.

If the promo is showing McAllister, does that make him RJ? Maybe. If McAlister is not dead, then could Hafner and/or Stiles be alive? Is McAllister in the promo helping Jane? Who knows. I don't liek the coming back from the dead stuff, but of all of the dead people, the explosion scene has the most unanswered questions (What was the gun shot?). Did McAllister or Hafner cut off their hand in a sick maniacal way and leave it for DNA proofing?

That's where I'm at right now....

People who believe that McAllister is Red John due to the promo clips make me sick. If you think it's him, then you know nothing about this show

I was Partridge believer and still I am...and I will be till I don't get the f***ing reason why the f*** he had to be killed...
Haters...press unlikely button...but still you don't have a f***ing solid proof to say that Partridge can not be RJ ...

I have decided to make a list of questions that should be explained in the next episode(s):

1. How did Red John knew the list before Jane did?
2. Why did Red John Killed Partridge?
3. Why didn't Red John Killed Teresa?
4. What have happened with Michael Kirkland?
5. Why did kirkland killed a member of the RJ organization at the hospital?
6. What is the RJ connection with visualize?
7. How did Red John survived the bomb?
8. How did he put the bomb in first place?
9. What was that shot heard at the end of episode 6?
10. Who is Bertram calling just after Jane asked him to go to unveil RJ?
11. What does 'He is mar" means?
12. Is RJ the creator/director of the Blake organization?
13. What is up with all the birds long scenes that appeared in all episodes of this season?
14. Why did RJ put a recording device on the CBI office, especially since the Tyger Tyger already have all phones intercepted?

And there are things that does not add up with the description that we have of RJ and most of the suspect, for example, Reede was kind of bossy at Bertram office to who is supposedly his leader.
