An observation.  I think the Sheriff is somewhat friendly to Patrick.  He may have known about "the list" and played into the "fear of heights" thing.  He had to forego that fakery when he did in fact have to climb the ladder and walk on the roof to do his Sheriff job and save Jane.

He seemed honest when he showed his tattoo and said "it's not what you think".  That means "I'm faking my allegiance to the group so I can get close to catching Red John, too".  (But, if you make me go through with this, I'll have to set off my bomb - dang it... I'll ruin a perfectly good hat).

Here is my thought:  At Napa Valley, he "sneaks up" on Jane.  And, they discuss hunting.  Sheriff says I hunt "anything with a face" and gives his little grin.  Wellllllll  what's the big tease all these seasons???  Red Johns' SMILEY FACE.  So, I do not think Sheriff is RJ, but is hunting RJ as well, for whatever reasons of his own.

And... in the end of Desert Rose, Jane asks CBI Ron - "have you seen Lisbon"?  He answers (probably truthfully, because he's right there - duh) "No" and walks away with his cell phone in his hand, and two seconds later Jane gets "the call".  I have to think CBI Ron is at least a helper, devotee, something of Red John.

Kevin Corrigan is great.  I wish he'd been around more.

Those are my thoughts.  Worth the paper they're printed on!!!

Look at the promo (at 14-16 sec) from next episode.

Obviously McAllister is hunted by someone and is till alive.

There are 7 Suspects on the list. Its confirmed by Simon Baker and Bruno Heller that Red John is one the 7 on the list.
And its confirmed by Kira Tinsley that Red John have a Tattoo with 3 dots.

Robert Kirkland = Confirmed Dead
Brett Partridge = Confirmed Dead (May have had a Tattoo, since the arm was burned)
Bret Stiles = Have no Tattoo

Ray Haffner = Have no Tattoo

That Leaves us with 3 Suspects:

Reede Smith = Have Tattoo, but turned himself in, and it's confirmed Red John wanted Smith dead, Patrick also was very sure it's not him. We have also seen clues of this before, He is to chubby in comparison with Red John from before, different shoesize and so on.

This leave us now with 2 Suspect.

Gale Bertram = Have Tattoo

Thomas McAllister = Have Tattoo (Presumed Dead but looks alive in the Promo),

Now take a look at this link and see all the perfect comparison between Thomas McAllister and Red John.

"Got to double Xander Berkeley on "The Mentalist" Shortest my hair has ever been and I love it! Thanks Kevin Derr, Alex Daniels, Dane Farwell"

The stunt through the window in next episode? Xander Berkeley is the Actor of: Thomas McAllister

Than look at the similarities between Red Jon and Gale Bertam:
http://thementalist.wikia.com/wiki/Gale_Bertram

Its alot less similarities between Red and Gale Bertram than it is with Thomas McAllister and Red John.

Dont let your judgement cloud you with doubt. Look at the Hard Fact i gave you what is confirmed and whatnot. This leave us with 3 suspects, where
Thomas McAllister fits the description of Red John best.

Theory #13498 • By Red-Chris

These are my latest ideas built upon the information provided in Theory 13389. Enjoy.....

I wonder if 'Red John' the identity is the composite of the work of two people, who are *not* working together. One of them is a compulsive killer and enjoys the act of murder and the other one gets off on theatrically staging the murders, including the smiley face and notes, etc. One of them is destructive (murderer) the other creative (face painting, personal notes on nice stationary and such) a 'fearful symmetry'....

Brett with two t's could definitely be the theatrical one and could respond to murder scenes and then add his 'personal touch'. In this way, Partridge 'Creates' the idea of Red John from *someone else's* killings, thus taking the satisfaction and credit away from the original killer.

So in this way, Red John was never a person, but an *idea* created out of two separate person's activities. The older 'RJ1' would have killed or attempted to kill Brett once he figured out that he was the one defileing his killings. Brett's unique knowledge would be knowing what the original crime scene looked like before he staged it, so he could always identify and target the same killer's victims with his Red John theatrics.

Sooooooo..... In the finale, Jane will get to kill RJ1, who actually murdered his family, but he can't kill the potentially already or soon-to-be truly dead Brett who is the person who's theatrics were responsible for Jane going on TV and unknowingly getting his family targeted. RJ1 finally gets 'respect/credit' for his work, but also gets wasted by Jane.

To build on these ideas, the pigeon as a symbol has been attributed to both the Sheriff and Brett by some of us. Maybe that was planned by Bruno to indicate that these two people are the components of Red John!

The Sheriff said he will 'kill anything, with a face and is very low key. Brett couldn't hurt a fly, but likes to play/hang out with dead things. The Sheriff kills then gets out of dodge, Brett likes to respond to crime scenes, have his sick little fun and stick around to create drama. 'Red John' doesn't kill either Lisbon or Jane when he has the chance because he is actually Brett (the non-killer) in a goofy costume.

The Sheriff tells Patrick flat-out that he is not Red John. What he should be saying is that; 'I killed your family and then some asshole painted them in blood and took credit'.

The Sheriff has been trying to discover who's been messing with his kills, hence the Blake Association is hunting 'Red John'. Brett knows that the Blake Association is looking for him and is trying to use Patrick to hunt them down as a defensive move.

Heller said we would find out why the voice doesn't match any of the suspects. It strikes me that the promo video shows a bald man in the church who sounds like Bosco...so maybe Heller had the actor playing Bosco do the voice just to through us off? Or is it Bosco as a figment of Jane's imagination (maybe referring to his relationship with Lisbon) and the person we see Jane talking to after that in the church is another person? These promos always throw us off. I guess it also sounds like the bald serial killer (Linus) from the premier episode, too, but he was short.

I don't think RJ is Bosco, but it made me choose someone.

If Batman can change his voice, so can Red John

I hope, Partridge won't be Red John, the-creepy-forensics-guy-that-fakes-his-death is such a trite topic...

But, if it is well explained and justified I don't mind.

I'm waiting for surprises on the next episode!!!

In S06E07 at 31:55 very difficult to see, I’ll
put the image in the comments, a wine bottle’s box,

The vineyard is called SE7EN GRACES, it
must mean seven graces.

The logo is a cluster of grapes with seven
grapes on it.

The product’s name is 3infandel (don’t know
how to read that big number three)

It’s a 2007 product, and guess what, from
NAPA VALLEY

750ml/Bottle,
still one more thing I couldn’t
read, maybe if someone with HD can do it.

So what does that mean? McAlister is RJ? Or
it’s just a gift from him to Bertram.

Could he be the owner of that vineyard? Or
it’s RJ’s?

I tried to find that wine on the web, it
turns out that Napa valley is famous for its wineries.

Too many bottles of wine in that Bertram
hideout, but this SE7EN GRACES thing, doesn’t exist anywhere. It’s the future
winery of Bruno HELLER.

Let’s
get back to WHOISRJ, its becoming too obvious that PJ doesn’t trust Lisbon we
still don’t know why? Lately for example, we don’t know what happened in the
Malibu house before the explosion, which shot who? Why is he keeping this from her, or is it from us?
Was PJ hiding body parts
under those white sheets?

Someone, few theories ago, talked about Carmen
li in incomprehensible English, I thought I I understood that he meant Lisbon
is Carmen Li, Lee or Leigh, would that be possible? mmmm
