Posted my angry rant some minutes ago but there is one way Heller can save this.
Think of it, when they are about to reveal who's Red John, how do they prevent leaks before it's aired? It's to make a fake episode which both is shown in previews and handed out to the press Maybe it wasn't meant to be available for us hardcore fans but it was leaked from some reviewer which made the whole red herring a bit over the top (thousand of fans seen it instead of just reviewers).
This episode was wasted on so much crap instead of the revelation and ending of RJ. Stupid car chases and bad dialogue. And would CBS be so stupid that you can see who's coming back from the dead aka RJ in previews? That's retarded.
Hopefully they send the real ending on sunday with real Mentalist quality.

Look at the trailer once again...in the church you see some scenes...and if you look closely....
you see that the quality of this is different. Once the video is darker and once it's brighter!
Also...once "Red John" is wearing a ring on the left hand and once there is no ring on the hand!

i just got a funny thought..i imagined helelr or his team creating multiple accounts and just fooling around matchng some obscure pics with some theories......like the Part pic from the rebecca episode.....they see a scenario, ask partrige to derss like in tht video and shoot the pic.....
