WARNING THIS CONTAINS MAJOR SPOILERS
Okay.. so i watched it. And i can understand some things, thus some things i cannot.
So I'll start with things that you all complain about..
Firstly, sheriff wasnt my RJ of choice. I was betting on Haffner. My bad. You say he's 911 calling little sissy.. I think that this behaviour is normal for person like RJ. He's a maniac, egocentric, obsessed and little bit fucked up. Yeah, he's like that BUT ONLY when he thinks he's one step ahead of his nemesis.. Like in the chapel scene. He's a badass until Jane takes over the control. I can totally understand it - till that time he was sure that he won. That he will kill Patrick, no one will ever suspect that he is RJ. He thought that he's plan is perfect, and it seems that he planned it for a long time, accuring bomb planting plan time. He thoght that he's all plans have been working before - why not now? Self confidence was his weakest point.. And in the end - it lost him. So, thats why he panicked, he never ever was in this situation before, never was step ahead of Jane. Maybe he even was afraid of death like Voldemort or something. That's why all this runing, fast thinking reactions - who wouldnt have called 911 while being chased and afraid of losing life? Heller said, RJ is just a person. Just a man. All the things that he did was tricks to make us think he's some kind of god..
BUT. There are some things that im disappointed with.
*Why wouldn't Jane let him explain how the heck did he knew the list of 7 before him?
*Why the hell Lorelai and other chicks fall into this sheriff guy? He's not exactly a handsome or charming type..
*What about this sudden voice change? Its like he was speaking his own voice and suddenly only ONE sentence in RJ voice. I just dont get it.
*What about this pigeon phbia? Why even the pigeon. And where did Jane hid it before he threw it into sheriffs face? Maybe it wasnt even a phobia, he just got scared because it wasnt expeced..
*Why all the runing? Why the kill without answering all the questions? Why choking him to death just before he got shot in the ribs?
*What about the barn, Visualize and shit? Like it doesn't matter now?
*The Oscar who shoot Bertram suddenly knows RJ identity? They said no one knows it, so why did he listened to sheriff, being so sure he should listen to him? I don't get it too..
Well, I may not be dissapointed about RJs identity, Im just lacking a big closure. Like answers to all the questions. I dunno if its final version of the episode. I guess they could've shot many versions of the last scene. From the chapel till the end. It wouldnt have cost much.. So lets hope there is something more.
Because, RJ was a con artist. And he deserved more for that 6 years than just less than 20 minutes of last episode of his existance. The Abbot guy got more attention than RJ in this episode. Its named "RED JOHN" not "Abbot guy lookin for a map" isnt it?
We shall see on Sunday. Cheers.
That awkward moment when you realize that a sit com (How I Met Your Mother) had a better mystery character reveal scene than one of the most enthralling Drama mysteries in the last years.
I vow never to watch anything That Heller does ever again. I can't after that.
They should have treated the episode as a funeral. They should have alotted the time for going back and revisiting everything, the farm, Patricks family, maybe some stuff we hadn't seen before. RJ watching Jane on the news for the first time. It should have been a tribute to Red JOHN. Again he was the backbone of the show. it's makes no sense that it was all wasted. They obviously thought that Red John was not important enough to spend the time on.
His Story should have been told. There should have been great imaginary, we have seen it before right. The pilot, Patrick standing outside the barn and the light showing the smiley. Well the same thing should have been done for Red John. They should have paralleled some of that stuff with Patrick Jane. just like Patrick was standing outside the barn they should have shown a flashback to Red John just after painting the smiley. They should have explained the cutting of the women's throats and related it to a back story maybe with his mother or a sister. Why does he seem to have a hatred for women mainly and left the copycat man killer alive?? They should have shown him using his skills, sneaking up on a victim or getting someone to kill themselves. it just takes quick flashbacks and it's about fitting everything tightly together. I am telling you I could have done a better job then Heller did.
What they could have done was build him up as a god in the flashbacks where he was in his own territory surrounded by his followers. A skilled serial killer, smart and cunning. They could then stripped him of this with Jane having gotten the upper the hand with his phobia and shown that under it all he was just a man with no followers behind him.
That's just me though. Wasted potential with this whole story.
I don't really understand why you all think that the episode sucks.
Although McAllister wasn't my favorite Red John when this season started, this season has clearly been built to fit McAllister for Red John. I thought this entire season was pretty bad, mainly because it lacks Patrick's brilliance. But this episode itself wasn't bad, and it fits perfectly to the story. I agree that there are still A LOT of questions that must be answered, and I really hope they will be. I also agree that several dialogs were pretty cheesy and "funny", but not enough to prove the episode being fake. You might think that it still lacks Patrick's brilliance, but it doesn't. He knew who Red John was AT LEAST in the previous episode (as I and many others "knew").
A lot of people seems to believe that this release was fake, which is not impossible, although unlikely.
If we assume that Red John is someone on the list (which most people assumes), this ending is clearly better than either Bertram, Smith, Haffner or Stiles being Red John. So, that leaves the only possibly better ending with Partridge as Red John, which I still might have preferred. But anyways, I'm not upset with this ending either, not yet anyways, because I still think that everything will be explained.
For those of you who still hope that Partridge is more involved than it seems, I'll just say that it's possible that it was him in the last scene of the episode (at least looked that way in the crappy webrip I watched). It's a reach, and it's more likely just a tease, but still.
I can only advice you to watch the episode again, because it's really not THAT bad.
What is gonna be this Tv Serial without Red John?
How can this end in the middle of a season instead of last episode?
It's too weird!
