Oh, man. You are making me lose my patience. If you still think the "leaked" is the real one, you didn't learn anything frome 5 seasons of PJ ruses and deceits. You are just dumb.
That it will be disappointing, with a lot of plot holes and absurd twists, this is another matter. This site will be submerged of "So, why did... " , "How is it possible that... ", "It's utterly absurd when.... ", "It was unfair to the viewers to say ... " and so on.
I'm pretty sure that the leaked episode is not the one to be aired on Sunday. I hope it isnt, as quite frankly, I couldnt see any of the writers gaining employment in this bussiness again!
I would think that Jane would want to know how he found out his list of suspects.
I'm sure he would have some other questions for him before he kills him.
I agree with others here, that arguably the single most awaited episode in TV history, would not either reveal the character in a promo, nor allow the 'leak' of it.
There is (as of midnight Saturday 24th Nov.) a link to a youtube full video on the Official Mentalist Facebook page, 44 mins long, strange that they would allow that as I am sure they would be checking what people are saying on there.
I noticed that in the promo, the church scene with Jane and 'Red John', while you see him walking down the aisle, there is no Bertram or candle stick stand on the floor, that is clearly visible in 'the episode'.
I personally think its another great example of the creativity of the writers of this show, thinking way outside the box, and proving that almost anything is possible these days. I for one am very looking forward to what is aired on Sunday, just please don't postpone it another week!

Things we learned from the mentalist
1- Always bring a pigeon with yourself when you're meeting a mastermind serial killer, they're the ultimate weapon.
2 - When a person hurt and bleeding walks towards you, you scream like he is the devil instead of calling an ambulance.
3- Serial killers usually suck at rock, paper, scissors.
4 - Whenever an important witness, RJ contact or
anyone with RJ-related information comes along, be certain to leave then
in an unlocked and unsupervised room so that RJ or one of his minions
can kill them.
5 - Don't ever watch anything Bruno Heller is involved with again!
6 - Always bring a female assassin to protect you AFTER you get shot. And also arm her only with a knife instead of a gun.
7 - When your boss tells you to pat someone down, don't just check for a
gun. Please make sure to notice any suspicious birds, too.
8 - Psychics can predict names on a list but cannot predict someone strangling them to death.
9 - Six years of clues does not matter. :(
10 - It's better to have a fear of heights, than to be afraid of birds. That will get you killed.
11 - When frisking someone, double check to make sure they aren't hiding a pigeon.
If McAllister returned after being declared dead, why couldn't Brett Partridge do the same? For that matter, the sheriff could pose as Red John to mislead Patrick Jane just like Timothy Carter did in the season 3 finale.
So, the perhaps the leaked episode is real, but it may not be the end of it :) according to IMDB there are still a couple of episodes to go.
First they think I'm Bertram...
Then they think I'm McAllister...
I can see why I reveal myself next episode...
Because I'm definitely not waiting until they say I'm Reede Smith!!!
If the so-called "leaked" episode was real or not, no idea. However, while we wait, I urge you to watch Criminal Minds s9e7.
Plotnick is a weird ass killer, a lot better than the "fake" Red John.
