K gang!  I know there are highly intense emotions boiling around about this episode.  Firstly, Kudos to all those who were voting McAllister!  We got our man!!!

Secondly, if you knew anything about Patrick Jane, you knew he had only one goal from the beginning; to kill Red John.  He didn't respect him or admire him, he wanted him dead. Why would he stroke the ego of the man who murdered his wife and daughter by asking him to reveal all his genius and secrets? I guarantee you, most of the information Jane had deduced on his own.  That's why the Sheriff was on the list in the first place. And to quote Patrick, "You're an evil, sexually perverted sociopath with pathetic delusions of grandeur.  The rest is just details..."

BUT for those of us who want the details, here is how McAllister makes the most sense:

Rosalind's Description:  McAllister is under six feet, he had short straight hair 6 years ago (lost much of it since then).  He is not muscular, but not soft.  Probably has rough strong hands, and was definitely the most likely to smell of pine, earth and nails.

He Is Mar:  The very first big clue we got makes sense now.  Most likely, Renfrew was trying to write He Is Marked in reference to the tattoo.

Bosco's Secretary:  We all saw the secretary get killed by someone in a Sheriff's outfit.  We know as this "Sheriff" approached her, she was smiling, indicating that said Sheriff was actually RJ.

Mobility:  None of the other suspects had the allotted free time to commit the killings.  All of the other suspects had jobs that kept them very busy.  A Sheriff in Napa Valley wine country has lots of free time... and especially alone time.

Hunter Ethos:  Jane usually discovers the killer by determining who had the right psyche to commit the crime.  This held very true to McAllister.  The man loved to kill.  When Jane asked him what he hunted, he replied, "Anything with a face..."

Sophie Miller's Description:  The Sheriff is middle-aged but in good health.  He had the most calm and confident posture of any of the suspects.  He's very charming.  Most importantly, he has a real phobia, Ornithophobia, the fear of birds.  This was eventually his undoing.  Jane had noticed this at the Church in Napa when the pigeon flew by his head.

The Handshake:  Lastly, we never saw these characters shake hands on screen, but I am sure it happened, just not in the conventional sense.  The first time they meet, they play rock, paper scissors, a game during which you shake your hand three times before revealing either rock, paper or scissors.  Thus, that is the moment the two shook hands.

All in all, the Sheriff made the most sense and I was satisfied to see him be Red John.  I seem to recall everyone up in arms a few weeks back when everyone thought it was definitely Reede Smith. At least that didn't happen, right?

I got the impression that Heller dragged it out for so long because he didn't know what to do with Red John or who he would be.

TV Guide Magazine: What does this gruesome triumph do for Jane? Often when we get what we want, we find out it's not what we wanted at all.
Baker: "Protect me from what I want!" My wife has that saying on a little plaque in our kitchen. That's the catchphrase I took to [series creator] Bruno Heller and said, "This is what we have to do as the show moves forward. We have to deal with the comedown, the disappointment, the loss of focus." It's that meandering feeling you get after you've achieved the very thing that's driven you for years. Okay, you got what you wanted. What now?

Baker:
You want to know something I've never talked about?
TV Guide Magazine: Hell, yeah!
Baker: All those times we heard the voice of Red John? That was me.
TV Guide Magazine: Seriously?
Baker: Yes! In the Season 2 finale, when Jane was captured and Red John did that "Tyger, Tyger" thing with the mask on? That was me. I played both characters in that scene.

TV Guide Magazine: Wow. That's especially trippy considering there was a major theory going around that Jane was Red John. So in a way that turned out to be true!
Baker: That was the reason I did that. There was a point where Bruno was saying, "We don't know who we're going to cast to play [the masked Red John]." I said, "Don't cast anyone! I'll do it." Bruno was, like, "I love it! I love it!" So I put on a mask and did that funny, wispy little voice. And for seasons after, whenever Red John spoke, I had to go record the voice.

EVERYONE THUMBS UP THIS SO PEOPLE CAN SEE IT.

This Episode "Red John" was the worst peace of sh*t that I ever saw in my life. I wasted 6 years on that show.

At least I can say:
I am never gonna watch and wait for the Mentalist again EVER! never ever ever ever!!!

Thank you Mr. Heller for such a bad Episode, I honestly was a true fan of the Mentalist and his SKILLS and the Red John Storyline but you ruined that wonderful show because of money and 6 Seasons.

PS: If I am ever in your shoes I wish I had RED JOHN TO KILL YOU SON OF A BITCH.

GREEN = RJ kill Heller please
RED = RJ kill myself for still liking a Moneymaker-Show with unlimited flaws by now ...

Yeah, guys. Definitely not the entire Episode was a shame and lame.
At least one part...and frase was... awesome:

PJ to RJ: "...I have to say...I'm little dissapointed"

Yeah, Patrick. We all are too.

I thought you were smart people, it's obviously that McAllister is not Red John and the clue is how he got the names list, if Jane had listened to him. By the way, I'm going to remind you the third season

Oh My GOD!!
After all this times...all these efforts from everyboday on this site...I mean, through all amazing theories we've been reading... I just CAN'T BELIEVE 'they' did this to us. Such a lame finalle..and end of this great history of RJ & PJ.
Thomas?? C'mon!! ...and asking for mercy?? RJ??? Aham, right.
I think I have another theory: Bruno and his writer forgot ALL about the five seasons...forgot ALL about the history, clues, the drama, the feeling, the tension which were there everytime or every episode connected with RJ (and it went until s06e06, in that amazing end... being that s06e07 was already lame, weak and dissapointed as this 8th). And more...they forgot ALL about us, the fans, who sustends all this crap... because jeez!! they really forgot it was ALL about us.

Oh man! We really deserve more than that...definitely.
I can tell I loved the show through the years...but now... I almost feel as I wasted my time.

Well, that's my feeling. And if you feel the same...let they know that.
Sorry guys. It's finished for me.
