Red John's "signature"; its eyes imply an epicanthal fold. When Caucasians draw a "happy face" it doesn't look like that. I'd be interested to see if that was a valid cultural difference, or just me making silly inferences. Hehe. He's also named after a serial killer (Scott Lee Kimball); AND Cho as a name has a legend behind it about a miraculous baby being born with the red Chinese (sic) symbol for "Cho" written under his arm. .

Easy.

I have a few theories on
the poem by William blake that Bertram read in episode 16 season 3.

1) First of all Bertram read the poem (or well a few lines of the poem) to
Lisbon
and Laroche. Bertram stated that it was a poem he liked then walked away and then
Laroche told Lisbon that it was a William blake poem.

2) So heres
Lisbon she knows that that poem was from William blake then in episode 23
season 3 Strawberrys and cream Jane told Lisbon
and the team that Red John spoke a poem to him in the season 2 finale. He then
read the poem Cho reconised the poem and said thats William blakes poem. Why
did Lisbon not click and say wait a minnuet Bertram told me a poem from William
blake aswell? If she had done that then Jane could have asked Bertram about it
and Bertram might have said who he was told it by and they would have Red John.

So why didnt
Lisbon not tell them about it I think that she is ether a lover of Red John or
is related to him in some way and doesnt want him to be caught.

So who is Red John ? Red John is who ever told Bertram that William Blake poem.
How do we find out who is was? heres what I think he must have told Bertram
that poem im guessing in season 3 beginning Because if he was told in like
season 1 dont you think he would have used it by now so it must be fresh in his
mind so any one who has shaken hands with bertram or been with Bertram in
season 3 episode 1 - 16 could be Red John. And if any one has shaken hands with
bertram or been with Bertram in those episodes and has shakend hand with Jane
to could be Red

Patrick Jane is a sadist and sociopath. In all his work he takes pleasure in the manipulation and wrath he injects on people. All of his victims (criminals he hunts) have typically done something wrong and are "worthy" and deserving of his punishment. Much like Lucifer himself (who in his return is stated as being a very beautiful and likable person) so is Jane. The sad part is that society sees him as a good guy even when he consistently and continuously dose things to directly and indirectly hurt people. The world is his playground and EVERY sinner is susceptible to his charm and disguise.

Jane was born into this life with many gifts and from an early age he is placed in a position to rip at his morality repeatedly as a means of survival. At some point this behavior normalizes into his personality and eventually he can no longer morally differentiate between what is right or wrong. Knowing the rules and how people react to them however, is like second nature.

As time progresses he deteriorates so much that the few meaningful relationships he has left (wife and daughter) are destroyed because they are considered weaknesses and liabilities.

Logically assembling the pieces to draw a correlation between Patrick Jane and each RJ murder is as difficult as trying to figure out how he manipulates each criminal into divulging that they are guilty. PJ / RJ is playing both sides of the chess board; sometimes directly and other times by putting pressure on people to do his bidding.

It should be noted that the CBI family are a good group who have been infiltrated by a very sick person. Their intentions are GREAT and the things PJ does for them seem like an act from god, so they are willing to accept the means to what they believe is a GOOD end. Unfortunately, this is the state of our criminal justice system today. In fact, it could be easily said that many cops are just as corrupt as the criminals they pursue with the only difference being the power behind them that they wield.

Lastly, Brett Stiles has to be addressed. My gut feeling is that this man is directly linked to Patrick's life development. They are both life long con artists, seem to have a British ethnicity to each (tea drinking, suits, automobile), and seem to each have a deep understanding of the other. Stiles says he knows Red John yet when he looks Patrick in the face he almost arrogantly preys on his divergence. But when push comes to shove he protects Jane (or Red John) just as he would any other flock member in his cult. Jane resents Stiles' as his superior and I believe secretly he would like to take that role from him.

The feds are starting to connect the dots, but Jane always seems to be one step ahead by killing potential witnesses and silencing loose ends before they can leak any pertinent information.

Please feel free to comment. I value feedback and appreciate the thought that goes into it.

Peace to all the Mentalist Fans,

Anyone who thinks its Patrick would have to justify, first of all how he picked himself up off the ground when tied to the chair, why he would have had that stupid conversation with the guy he killed, how he can both be with harker and at cbi at the same time when she calls, why Lorelei didn't just kill him when she found out red John killed her sister, how Kristina fry was abducted while Jane was with people, how he could have a conversation via computer with rj while at cbi, again in the limo, and a whole lot more

Could Red John be someone from the carnival Patrick knows?

In the last episode they find Lorelei's corpse amongst carnival items.  At least one item, a yellow and red pedestral appeared too in S03 E02 (Cackle-bladder Blood), where Patrick and Teresa visited Patrick's old carnival.

Also, tvguide.com writes: "This season has been about Jane digging into the notion that it's not that Red John could be anyone; it's that Red John is one of a very specific set of people that Jane is uniquely qualified to investigate," Tom Szentgyorgyi tells us.   (Link: http://www.tvguide.com/News/Mega-Buzz-New-Girl-Following-Spoilers-1062691.aspx)

Could this set of people be the carnival? What other group of people is Jane uniquely qualified to investigate?  And if so did we see Red John already in S03 E02?

I watched that episode and there is only one person who caught my attention, a man in an overall doing some manual work. (appearing at 09:26 and 13:26). He could be in the early 40s, is Caucasian and has short hair.  According to Rosalind Harker Red John has rough hands which indicates that he is someone who works with his hands.

Points against this theory:   Red John could have placed Lorelei amongst carnival items to taunt Patrick. And he doesn't seem to be someone who would give away such an important clue unless he didn't have time to move Lorelei.  Red John's rough hands could have been a result of his long-lasting construction work in the cellar in S01 E23 and it might have been a singular event.

What do you think?

Robert Kirkland. My guess would be him. it appears he is hiding something. He and patrick jane shook hands. Kirkland told him that he knew Patrick Jane when he shook hands. My Final guess would be him and perhaps maybe Bret Partridge could be Red John.

I think they should do a Mentalist/Criminal Minds crossover episode.
