Everyone who says Red John is not McAllister is right.  Red John is really Timothy Carter. He only faked his death. He moved over to ABC and married a Trophy Wife named Kate.  The reason Timothy Carter didn't exist before 2006 is because he was living as Pete Harrison.

Okay people, Get over it, McAllister is Red John. Let it go. I mean I'm a hard core Mentalist fan but some of you people are delusional. Do you know how idiotic some of you sound. "Red john is actually the man playing with the girl by the dinosaur slide" or "Red John is Partridge but now he dresses like a woman feeding pigeons."

I had to make like 15 different accounts to do it, but I did it. I complained and complained in about 25 different theories about how bad the episode was. Everyone who saw the episode slowly took the bait. Once the episode aired, there will still a few who seemed to realise what was going on, but my theories about how bad the episode was, drove them all away. And everyone was angry and disappointed.

Eventually I had a whole cult of complaining people behind me. Everyone was convinced what they saw was real. I didn't even have to make any more theories. People who think the episode was fake are now almost non-existent. With less than 10 hours until the episode, I'm going to try and put a red smile back on your faces.

The leak you saw was intentionally placed into the source code of the CBS press website. Since 99% of people don't know what source code is, they thought it was a hack... Actually if you right click on any website, you'll see "View Source." Click that, and that's all you had to do, to get to the link which directed you to the episode.
