In the red barn episode the red hair lady whos mom was "senile" is a clue. Basically her mom got kristina freyed ! She could not speak but freaked out when shown the rj smiley face :)
The BA was using red john to cover up certain murders .
They did this using macalister and partridge. macalister really was red john in a sense.
The real red john (rigsby) used jane to take down the BA.

Watch how rigsby acts this season. How weird him and van pelt act when the fbi take over . How odd they acted in the car. How conspiring they were in thr room with the usb and cho.

When patrick sees "red johm" walk on to the church he blatantly shows a sigh of relief .
I think he was petrified to meet the real red john and the sight of macalister made him think he was in the clear.
Episode 6/8: what does PJ say to TA in the church? "You're Red John, I'm a little disappointed." Like most of the viewers? As has already been said, the entire episode just doesn't seem to fit. PJ seems to be "out-of-sorts" or not completely there. This is why I like so many others feel like this couldn't be the ending to such a wonderful journey.

Makes sense that he took Kristina because he could tell her to pack a bag and get ready to leave becuase there was a break in the case and she would trust him. He stole that woman!
