In an interview about Season 5 renewal, Bruno Heller has stated that Red John's identity will not be revealed for two seasons, so yes, it is confirmed that the dead man from 4-7 is not Red John.
Does this mean Red John is not dead?

Okay this is just commin' out of no where. But could it be possible that RJ is still alive and kills Van Pelt and Rigsby, because he gets mad for the CBI thinkin' him dead.
Van Pelt and RIgsby are also already meant to leave the show after season 6.

On the 6x08 promo after you see the man come in the church, I found something weird it looks like the guns not pointed at him and then he moves forward so whoever the man is who comes into the church is not Red John
Why would sheriff want to let the world think that Bertram was RJ? I thought that RJ wanted everyone to think that he is unstoppable, genius murderer. He wanted respect (as he showed by killing Jane's family and Panzer just for insulting him). Being Bertram and got killed by some CBI consultant is what he wanted everyone to think? And that's end of the story? It doesn't make much sense for me.
Season 6 was Cbi Rons biggest season. I think i heard his name and saw his face more than ever before .

That scene at the hospital when he said hello to bertram too was weird.
I NEVER suspected him until i saw the old episode where Van pelts bf had a gun in his hand in cbi parking lot. Ron looked at him, then the gun, then drove away! Haha it was great.
Its amazing how many places the script could go and i would be cool with it . Heller has buily suspicion in ever character on the show. Thats why were always arguing with each other on this site
She is the one he seems to trust implicitly. However, I think he is keeping her close to keep an eye on her.
