Ron and Kirkland are the same person . He is either RJ. Or RJs number 2
First of all Virgil has been on the top of my list for a very long time. RJ needs to be an older person most likely a man. Rj has been killing for a long time and has influenced and mentored many people.
Virgil had a full time job where he was able to meet Jane and shake his hand, as well he was able to control evidence and events in his favor. Either Jane was getting to close to finding out who Virgil was or Virgil simply got bored he needed to change things up.
Virgil retired as head of the CBI. This enabled him to devote more time to being RJ. Over the years many people have seen RJ and know who he was. They just would never betray him. Virgil needed to change things up. In his leave he was able to tie up loose ends.
Now Virgil was able to completely change things up. He had massive reconstructive surgery including voice alterations. Introducing Red John formerly known as Virgil Minelli now known as Kirkland.
Kirkland needed to talk to Jason, because they were close friends. When he asked one of his closest friends(Jason) if he had ever seen him before or if he reconized him it was to confirm that his makeover was successful.
After he received confirmation, he killed him quickly and almost painlessly. Kirkland said that if he was ever in this position he would hope there would be a friend to do the same for him.
Kirkland and Virgil Minelli are the same guy Red John
I don't think Kirkland is Red John for 2 reasons. However, I'm pretty sure he works for RJ.
When Jason woke up, he asked if he could recognise him. The answer that came from Jason was a negative one, indicating that Kirkland is a friend of Red John and so was Lennon. Come on people,let's be serious. If Lennon knew who RJ is, how come he didn't regonize the man in front of him(if you say that Kirkland is RJ)? I think that RK works for Red john and maybe once he had to do a mission that involved Jason or maybe they met each other at one of the "red john meetings" or somewhere where all the RJ marionettes meet.
And my second reason is the phrase Kirkland said just before killing Lennon "if I ever get in your shoes, I hope a friend will do this for me." Meaning that, if he ever fails on doing something for RJ and nearly gets caught, someone will kill him painlessly before RJ does in his not very gentle way. Because we all know that if Jane was there instead for Kirkland, he would have gotten the answer from Lennon. I know he said something about prison, but I, personally think it was just an excuse or something to say, so he doens't reveal too much.
So, Kirkland is NOT RED JOHN. But I bet all my life belongigs that he works for him.
The last episode shows us how Robert Kirkland mercilessly kills Jason Lennon, making most of us think he is RJ.
But what if he was avenging the death of Miranda? What if he was in some ways related to Miranda and Lorelei? Remember he made his appearance only after Lorelei escaped from the prison! Just a thought! Please let me know what u guys think :)
For a moment there, when Kirkland was talking to Jason, I really thought he was RJ. It made me think that none of the accomplices really know what RJ looks like or who he is. I mean even his lover Rosalind couldn't see him because she is blind.
Then I started thinking, what if one of Kirkland's loved ones was a victim of RJ. Or maybe even an accomplice that was killed by RJ.
I admitt that he does look good for being connected to RJ but that would be too obvious.
I think Jane will suspect him and get close to him and then RJ will kill him and as he is dying Jane will be leaning over him telling him to hold on but by the time help comes it will be too late and Kirkland will die.
Kirkland's sister or someone could have been one of the women who were raped and murdered by RJ via Jason and Jason could have met him because of this.
Also RJ had to have been at the women's shelter because he told Jason who to bring him.

The first time i saw this guy, i wonder "is he a freiend of RJ ?"
With the last episode and the dialogue between R.B and the other guy, let me think he's RJ. P. Jane may think the same when he look after him...
