I'm posting this recent interview of Bruno Heller for "Templar", since he mentioned he can't post, along with some comments of mine:

[suspenseful] finale," creator Bruno Heller says. But that might not

Pike will propose to Lisbon. Will Jane give the couple his blessing, or

way, Heller promises closure. "With the death of Red John, there's a

What relief! Thank god they're planning on tying up the Jane-Lisbon
loose end! The culmination of 6 long years is finally before us! The
saying "the night is darkest just before dawn" had never been so true.
Finally a ray of sunlight is on the horizon.
Nothing like covering such pivotal plot holes. The show would lose credibility otherwise :O
He promises closure on this quintessential matter as well. I trust Bruno Heller to deliver once again.

Out of curiosity, where are you folks getting the idea that Jane is going to be encountering any legality issues regarding Red John?
Because that is frivolous.
There will be no charges against Jane, for killing Red John (and yes, Macallister was Red John)
It's so obvious the show is setting up for a series finale. Not a season finale, but a series finale.
The remaining cast is going to go there own ways.
I know everyone wants Red John back, but it will not happen.
In just a little over 5 weeks, the only episodes you will be watching from there on, will be reruns.
Sadly, the show botched the Red John chapter, but he has already been revealed, killed and is no longer part of the show.
Thank God the Haibach thing was so short.
There is not a single big storyline going on now. This means that the only story line left is going to be Red John related with Jane in court.
This also means that they are going to spend time on it and not just brush by it.
Things will be explained. Janes future depends on it.
For Jane to go to trail now means he pissed off the Fbi right?
That was Abbots deal with him.
Lisbon is leaving with Pike which makes me think more Jane blows up the Fbi relationship.
He never liked or trusted them. He only joined the fbi to check it out and like its a fishbowl.
Every tv show i have ever seen in its entirety tied up all or most lose ends.
The plot holes will be filled and ifs gonna be awesome.

The season isn't over yet...........and there's still the season finale. every season finale of The Mentalist has always been the best and most thrilling ep of the season what's the season 6 finale gonna be? Stiles/Haffner return? McAllister as RJ explanation? real Red John returns? it has to be Red John related to have any impact at all there's no time left in the season to build any tention or drama with another killer/storyline ther's a reason Jane came back to work with the FBI Jane hasn't moved on at all and is Agent Kim Fisher the worst character in Mentalist history ? she's all over the place? and she has a crush on Lisbon her eyes bug out when she sees Lisbon in that dress, she's asking Cho Jisbon questions is she thinkin bout Lisbon when she's waving around her wand? she's fuckin straight up nuts just the way Red John likes em and Whylie could be RJ's computer hacker? he's creepy enough and do you believe McAllister could pull off all RJ's computer hacking there's nothing new at all about this New Beginning they can still save the season and the series with a killer season finale maybe there's more to Red John than just McAllister like a group or a mastermind i think the most shocking would be that Jane is really behind Red John and that he is fuckin crazy did anyone ever imagine in a million years that Red John would be deathly afraid of birds, phone 9-1-1 , and claim to be a real psychic??? they never put any closure on Stiles or Visulize and the fact that they are never mentioned is proof that they are not done
