LATEST THEORIES

After watching the S5 Finale I have a few thoughts:

I think the video Lisbon and Jane watched was made by Jane and Lorelei.
Something about it did'nt sit right with me. I think that Jane got a clue from RJ about the memory from his past and made the video with Lorelei and then planted it with the woman from Child Services under hypnosis. She was not a piece of RJs plan. Jane would not let her go unaccompanied in the cop car where she was able to kill herself is she had any info on RJ. He didn't seem phased when she said she wouldn't talk.

The question is why? I think it is just to paint Lisbon as a suspect along with the broken arm without much explanation etc. I believe Jane is trying to keep Lisbon safe by throwing her off the trail. Jane loves Lisbon and knows that RJ will hurt her to get to him.

In addition I think i have figured out that:

DR. TOWLEN MORNING IS RED JOHN.

What we know about him:
-over 30
-doctor so he is intelligent, clean, organized, wealthy
-caucasian
-knowledge of human body including death

In Janes book where he had suspects written he had Dr. Mornings name and underneath he had family doctor and DECEASED?

The question mark is a big clue, if the frozen mans body had be I.D.'d and Dr. Mornings there would be no need for the question mark.
Dr. Morning as RJ also explains how RJ knew about Janes childhood memories, I think Dr. Morning was Janes doctor in the insane asylum. Serial Killers love to get close to the crime, Jane went crazy and RJ is obsessed with him, so what could be better than seeing Jane everyday. That is how RJ knows the secret, Jane doesnt even know he told him in the asylum. RJ then hypnotized him to forget his face/name therefore the name Towlen Morning doesn't remind Jane of the hospital.

EVEN FURTHER EVIDENCE:

Ever notice of RJs accomplices seem to be random? Men/women, dark hair/light hair etc They seemingly have nothing in common other that some previous trauma that makes them easily manipulated, so what is the link?

Dr. Morning is their doctor. All the accomplices have seen the same doctor, that is how he can have control over different people in different areas. He may work in walk-in clinics in numerous locations and is able to hypnotize any weak people to do his work. It all makes sense.

All the evidence points to Dr.Morning - let me know what you think?

Well done PJ!!!

I know that Bruno said no more twists, just facts. But it is a fact to me that PJ's bait has been taken by RJ. There is that smile on P's face when he picked that toothpick  from the floor... I think (as some other people on this site) that P has his own list in his mind with fewer names... Bret Partridge? Why not and it is not dissapointing at all! However it is so obvoius to us and come on, Patrick would notice same things!!! Bob Kirkland? Same thing! I  definitely wouldnt be disapointed!

Now, there are names that are missing from the list like Walter Mashburn... Hmmm But there is someone else that to me is even more sppoky than RJ... And especially after yesterdays episode... I did ask before How  Kristina Frye knows that PJ's daughter was asleep when she was being murdered? Fine maybe RJ told her. But  How the hell she knew that PJ was wandering about it in the first place?????  I have thought about it and dont know the answer to this day. Maybe it is something normal aftyer loosing a child... Can't tell. And again now! A happy memory from PJ's childhood ... Memory that even he didnt know he had... Spooky again!! Are Kristina and RJ real psychics?? Hey Patrick said no  such thing!!! This little thing kind of leaves me hanging and Im sure there will be some stuff (not twists) that we have all missed. And if BP or BK is Red John I say I wont be disapointed!! mentalist is one of the best TV series I have ever seen! Keep me thinking, speculating and guessing! WELL DONE Mr Heller and team!!!

Okay, so the season finale was designed to throw us all off a bit, however, I think it actually helps make some possibilities more clear. The KEY if you think about it is that RJ seemingly read PJ's mind, and picked up on a happy memory that PJ had never told anyone. Now, unless the show takes some weird supernatural turn, we know that there has to be a reasonable explanation. So what could it be? My guess is that after PJ's wife was killed, he spent some time in a mental hospital before joining the CBI. We saw his therapist, and we saw that he was kept at least for a time in a small room while he was undergoing therapy. So, I suspect that while under treatment, he confided his memory, probably under hypnosis, to his therapist. If you remember the episode where she appeared, I think she indicated that she had broken up with the man she was seeing then, and PJ seemed to know him. I think that her boyfriend was Red John, and that he found her records of his sessions, and therefore knows things about PJ that he thinks he never told anyone. It's the only explanation, because PJ would never "forget" telling someone something like that, nor could anyone glean such specific information. It had to come during a time when he was under treatment, and probably under hypnosis. It's also telling that once again, last night's RJ accomplice was very matter-of-fact about her association with RJ, again appearing as if under some type of strong mind control. Excited to see how it plays out and keep an open mind -I don't think that RJ will turn out to be any of the seven that Patrick came up with, it's only natural that he would have excluded someone he might have met before beginning the chase of RJ at the CBI....

Well, well. How convenient that Brett Partridge shows up in the beginning of the finale. I have suspected Brett for some time now, but even I was suprised by his appearance in the finale.
I also must admit I find Ray Hafner to be an intriguing RJ suspect, given that he was in the FBI and has ties to "Visualize."

But all evidence still leads to Brett. He has been around since the pilot and quotes classic literature just like RJ.

Brett Partridge is Red John.

I also think that Bret Partridge is RJ. He was in the first episode and also in the final episode of Season 5. Many other people have listed why he fits the physical and age profile of RJ. It's interesting that he appears at the beginning of 'Red John Rules', and is the last named suspect of the 7. I also suspect that PJ has set a trap for RJ with a fake list, apparently stolen by RJ, since some of the names are ridiculous (Bertram, Sheriff McAllister, Smith), but there is an apparent connection with Red Stiles who seems to know who RJ is. Also, his creator, Bruno Heller has said that many people will be disappointed when they find out RJ's identity, and BP is the #1 suspect, so that would indeed be disappointing. The video of Lorelei may have been edited down to Patrick's final 7 list. RJ wants PJ to think he has psychic powers to read his mind. It is possible that PJ's father is still alive and told someone close to RJ about Patrick's childhood.

Hi , this is my first comment and i would like to apologize for my poor English.
Heller insists that one of the names on Jane's list is indeed his serial-killing nemesis.
If this is true the only one in list who fits ( by character) to be red john is stiles , but he is too old .
I don't like to believe but since season 2 episode 8 (the flashback when R.J. kills peaks) i knew it was Partridge . i freeze frame and that long face and nose are Partridge's.
voice can be changed , poems can be read by everyone but that flashback was real RED JOHN . and again i don't like that creepy cheap guy be mastermind killer.
