Have we seen Red John in the final scene of Season 3 finale episode "Strawberries and Cream"?

When Patrick is in the mall facing Timothy Carter, the fake Red John, in the background is a man wearing a long red shirt, black pants and a black baseball cap. His back is turned to us, as he is talking to a man wearing a green apron, apparently a clerk at the coffee station. The man is much taller than the clerk, perhaps about 6 ft. tall, with a thin profilel

He appears later in the same scene, still talking to the clerk, and finally after Patrick shoots Timothy and sits down at the table, where two store policemen rush up to him with pistols, he is seen rapidly running across the scene in the background, from left to right. The running figure is too indistinct to see many features, but he appears to have short dark hair.

Of course it could just be another red herring by Heller, but he did say that we may have had a fleeting glimpse of RJ. If that running figure was RJ, he seems to fit Brett Partridge's profile best.

A lot of great theories and speculation on here but my main suspect is Sheriff Tom McAllister.

A lot of great points are made as to why it is plausible to be him with Theory #3066 on this site. I won't rehash those valid points but here is a new one to consider:

In episode 2 of Season 1 where McAllister is featured he appears to be looking to prey on Grace Van Pelt before Rigsby intervenes. He acts shocked that they would think he would be a killer. In the words of a famous English playwright "Me thinks doth protest too much!"

The seed has already been planted with McAllister.

Grace seems a plausible suspect because:

There was a hint (I think in series 2) that she had a traumatic past, but we have not found out much else other than that she really gets touchy on the subject of suicide (she snaps at Rigsby when he makes light of a woman who has apparently jumped of a bridge to her death).

Also, why have we been given more insight and back -story into the other 'central'  CBI agents (Theresa, Cho and Rigsby)? For example we learn about Theresa's closeness to her brothers and the affect her alcoholic father had on her life; we meet Rigsby's father and learn about his criminal background; Cho has an entire episode dedicated to his ex- gang lifestyle, so why is Van Pelt's background information limited to the fact that we know her dad was a competitive football coach and she seems to have lost her sister?

She has red hair and as we know women with red hair often appear in episodes. She was the last person to join the CBI team, and I think this was revealed to be not long before Patrick Jane joins the CBI, in the episode which flashes back to when he joined the team?

She is also reluctant to transfer to another department when her relationship with Rigsby is made public, and is particularly keen to keep their relationship under wraps in the first place- this may seem sensible because she was last to join and a woman keen not be overlooked- but could it also indicate that she needs to stay close to Jane?

During the most recent season, has the actress been missing due to pregnancy? If so that conveniently explains why Grace was written out to go and complete a computer course to develop her skills and career, but this would also be a convenient amount of time to go elsewhere and develop/do Red John tasks!

Grace is a whiz on the computer, and is often the character who encourages Jane's tricks- much like Red John, who enjoys keeping track on Patrick's activities and seems to me to respect and admire what he does.

I think it would be fantastic in the final episode to go back in time to each key episode and for it to be revealed that Grace's word or actions have had a sinister double meaning/ulterior motive! This would be so dramatic and would really be a terrific example of writing! Unfortunately I don't know how likely this is going to be....

HE IS MARshall mcalister...if in fact the hooker wrote it .maybe she thought he was a marshall instead of a sherriff and tried to write on the wall after rj left...cue the he's too old, doesn't have the power or charm in 3.....2...1....but before you do that i bet you 3 chicken and a cow that before rj is revealed some clues will be revealed as fake.

Why would Lorelei tell RJ that she told PK that RJ and PK shook hands , i mean  Lorelei hates RJ now , because RJ raped and killed her sister, and in the RJ video RJ said "Lorelei told me what she told you about shaking my hand" , because he wants to cover on who ever told him which is Lisbon , because Lisbon is the only one who knows that Lorelei told PK that  RJ and PK shook hands .

People who said that red john is one person different that appears in the list,  please , reconsidering that.
Brett Patridge it could be the winner of who is red john  . If the episodes dosen't lie, and i don't think so, he is the perfect for Rosalie's description, he loves to see the fear on peopels faces , and uou, he appears always when red john murder someone.
The other suspecs are bad people, people who had a trouble past, probably relationated with red john, but they don't are him.
The question now if how can he knows the 7 suspects and if it is true that mentalist exist. I hope that Jain could answer that on the new season..

Did anyone realize, that the character and charisma from Ray Haffner did changed radically  in the 2 Episodes when he appears? In Season 2 Episode 2 PJ was in Haffners Team, because lisbon was suspended.. but he wasn´t able to manage and Control PJ, he was too smart for him. And they shoke hands. Interesting: In ths Episode Haffner, Betram and PJ sat on the same office. PJ and 2 RJ suspects in one room. Was that a coincidence? I dont think so. In Season 5 Episode 13 (or was it 15?..nut sure yet ) the charisma of Haffener had changed radically, as is said above. He offered Lisbon a new Job and a new life, like Lorelei did with PJ. RJ is very interested in Lisbon, in the Last Episode from Season 4 he wants Lisbons head.

Brett Patridge is a sociopath, but not charismatic enough to manipulate so many member from FBI and CBI... is Patridge really able to manipulate people on this way, that others people would die for HIM, like Timothy Carter and o Laoughlin? i think not.

Perhaps Patridge is really Red John, butI am sure that Bruno HEller is reading this site and our theories. And he can see that so many prople suspects Brett Patridge. Because this, i am pretty sure that he would change the script.
