I think the real question is not "Who is Red John". If we know who is RJ, then there are other question will show that we have to ask. 

1) First of all, why RJ kills? Just an ego? I think it can't be. He has a powerful friends. If he kills just a reason of ego, why they support him? He must be good offer.

2) What is the offer? What can you offer to FBI agent, Homeland Security... Who really are you RJ?

3) This is a really interesting question that i wanted to know. His servants... Why his servants kills them selves? Think about it, look our world. Doing that thing people are usually do for a  faith, opinion, religion. RJ should give them a faith. Visualize can do that. We clearly see that. And i think there must be connection.

4) This question like the first one(just more ideas, short questions). For what reason he kills? Why a powerful man kills random, normal people. (I accept they are random, because if not PJ should have noticed that)

*These questions are relevant. But i wanted to ask in different numbers, because of little details.

When i analysed that questions... First i thought Bret Stiles can be RJ. Because he can manipulate, he can gives faith(at the cost of death). But he is not a potencially killer. But includes some of RJ characteristics. 

Bret Partridge has a killer characteristics. PJ finds him creepy. And he really is too. He can do RJ murders. But he is not a powerful man(we can see).** If he is powerful and he hides, why? I think there is not a logical answer. If we accept he is not a normal killer.

But if we combine Bret Stiles and Brett Partridge(names are the same is that a coincidence?) we can clearly see the Red John characteristics that we need. 

RJ has a connections, visualize too. But a powerful organisation(***) acts serial killer actions? Come on. This is the real question. RJ is powerful man. And if you want to use agents, you should give them a good damn reason. What is that reason? Why he kills? Why smiling face? We makes theories but no one explains included that questions. There is a good questions but we make it relevant and put it on a logic.

*** I used organisation because he has a powerful friends, connections. That makes you have organisation at least.

We have to all agree that CBI Ron is not Red John but is definitely working with Red John.....He is Red John's mole in the CBI....

Because it comes to question, why is there a recurring character or extra in more than 75% of the scenes, unless he has a bigger role which is to be revealed when the show nearly finishes.....

I am an avid supporter of the notion that Red John shouldn't be obvious choices like Partridge, Stiles, Kirkland....I want Red John to be someone who had potential but was not one of the favorites....After 6 years of watching The Mentalist, wouldn't it be a letdown if one of the favorites turns out to be Red John....These 3 are the bookmakers favorites to be Red John but I would be somewhat disappointed if one of these 3 is Red John.....And if Kirkland is Red John, I would blame the writers for laziness....In the series final episodes when they are revealing Red John's identity, I want to be in shock and bewilderment as to whom is Red John, which would then lead me to rewatch previous episodes to observe Red John and his interaction and dialogue with Patrick....

I want the show to finish with a bang and in epic style and one of the best reveals in television history....AND after reading some of the theories, my 2 outside favorites to be Red John is Ellis Mars and Walter Mashburn.........


Red John is a showman and it's all about the performance for him.....and both Mars and Mashburn have put on quite a performance for Patrick....We must remember that Red John will not be himself around Patrick and he will put on an act or facade for him.....If Red John ends up being Mars and Mashburn, people will be talking

Wouldn't it be boring and predictable if Red John turns out to be Stiles...I would blame laziness on the writers if they choose Stiles....I agree that he has worked with Red John but he CANNOT be Red John..........It's too obvious......After 6 years of anticipation, I would want Red John to be someone unexpected who had potential and not obvious choices like Stiles, Kirkland or even Brett Partridge.......I want bewilderment when Red John's identity is being revealed.which would then lead me to rewatch old episodes to observe Red John and his interaction with Patrick........Do not let me down....

I think any of the seven could be Red John. The only ones that match the physical description are Kirkland and Partridge, rest all are either fat, old or a bit tall. Bruno Heller told we will be disappointed when we find out who Red John is and he could already have been cast. Hence it is axiomatic that RJ could be one who is very self-obvious or someone who has not been shown. Hence it could be the two new characters Mccallister, Reede Smith or Partridge or Stiles and not anyone else.
