LATEST THEORIES

Reading some of the recent theories got me thinking.  In a recent interview, Bruno Heller was talking about the reasons why Red John is accelerating his killings by saying something to the effect of "She is aware that Patrick is closing in on who he is".  The article surmises that maybe Heller slipped up and gave a clue by saying "she".  If that's the case, what if...

Red John is actually Kristina Frye and she is married to one of the 7 suspects.  It would answer a lot of questions that have come up in recent seasons
 - HE IS MAR ... he is married, or he (Renfrew's killer) is married to Red John
 - Red John didn't kidnap Kristina at the end of Season 2, she left because she is Red John
 - In that same episode, when Red John whispers "Roll Tide" and "Kristina sends her love", it's her husband so he would surely have that information from her
 - The man seen drinking tea with Rosalind appeared to have a wedding band, which would make sense if he's Kristina's husband
 - Kristina has the ability to hypnotize people, so she may have hypnotized PJ (perhaps when he was in the asylum) which is how she knew his happy memory
 - She knows that PJ's daughter died in her sleep, maybe she did the murder or she and her husband did the murder
 - If she's a psychic and PJ was truly a con artist who went on TV claiming that he was helping the cops catch Red John by giving the appearance that he was smarter than Red John - than she/her husband have a strong motive for the murder
 - She was Patrick's first romantic interest since the murder of his wife, how mind-blowing it would be if she was Red John
 - She wanted to help the CBI with the case before PJ nixed the idea, and that would allow her to have first hand knowledge of the cases
 - She has red hair
 - The first episode she appeared in was "Seeing Red"...maybe "Seeing Red John"???
 - Tyger, Tyger Poem ... "thy fearful symmetry" could be Adam and Eve, man/woman, husband/wife

The question then becomes ... who is her husband.  Heller says that Red John is always there, like Waldo.  He also says that he's just a man and we would be disappointed with the reveal.  My guess, the Red John is someone we have seen little of or someone who has made repeat appearances but is unimportant enough to PJ, Lisbon, and crew so that they don't know he's married.

My guess is Gale Bertram.  Frye disappeared at the end of Season 2, he appeared at the beginning of Season 3, he called Jane "Boy Wonder", and he recited Tyger Tyger.

It would be a bit of a disappoinment, as Heller mentioned.  But if he's married to Kristina and they worked as a team (possibly with many disciples) ... that would be a surprise ending that would satisfy many viewers.

There is a lot of theory's. I basically believe it could be anyone. Including PJ. All 7 people could be a team of RJ or none of them are. Think about it. There is more than 1 clue to each person of how they could be RJ. He could even be dead and someone is taking his place. There is too many explanations. No one will guess the solution spot on. So I'm looking forward to tonight's episode. Everyone, look for clues. And this is exactly what The Mentalist people want us to do, keep guessing.

oh and I forgot. What is Red John is someone that has never even been seen on the show before? Ever thought about that one?

My personal theory is that Red John is one step ahead of Jane because he has people in every law enforcement division (local, state, or federal), not because he has "psychic powers" or whatever it was Mr. Barlow was getting at in the season 5 finale.
Gale Bertram - CBIThomas McAllister - Napa CountyReede Smith - FBIBob Kirkland - Homeland Security
All of the above are likely moles for Red John who work to keep a surveillance on Jane. This leaves Brett Stiles, Brett Patridge, and Raymond Haffner. Before I get to them, I want to include the possibility of a fifth mole who works for Red John. If RJ is always one step ahead of Jane, then what if he had a mole in Lisbon's team all along. The likely candidate for this would be Grace Van Pelt because she was a late addition to the team. As a matter of fact, she was only considered after Jane became a consultant, thereby causing one person in Lisbon's team to move to another division. Red John has no magic powers. He simply has the resources to influence people who work for the law, something Jane doesn't have.
As for the three, I will rule out Brett Partridge for the following reason: He and Gale Bertram are the only ones appearing in the season premiere. If the list will be reduced to six after the first episode, then Partridge will likely be eliminated because Bertram appears in the next few episodes. This leaves Stiles and Haffner. What do these two have in common? Visualize.
I personally think it's Ray Haffner because he fits all the criteria. If these two are the only ones left then things can go in many ways. It could be that Red John, as a member of visualize, carried out his acts of murder alone or with the help of Stiles' cult (or Stiles himself). It's a game of chess. RJ's subordinates who died carrying out his orders were the pawns and the suspects who work for law enforcement were his rooks, bishops, and knights. Stiles and Haffner are the king and queen, figuratively speaking.

Episode 7 is the great red dragon; from revelations and the paintings by William Blake "the great red dragon" has seven heads. As there are seven names on Jane's list. they could all be Red John!

Jared Renfrew could have been writing "He Is Many".

There are also many aspects of poem "the tyger" that are allegorous with the red john story:

"what immortal hand or eye could frame thy fearful symmetry"
2 sides of one religion with visualise as the eye and red john, the hand

"on what wings dare he aspire"
the winged V symbol?

"what dread hand? & what dread feet"
the painting of nails using the victims blood

"what the hammer? what the chain..."
Roy Tagliaferro - a blacksmith or metal worker

"did he smile his work to see?"
the smiley is always painted so as, to see the ritualistically butchered victim.

some of these are a bit thin, but the Blake theme suggests there must be more to it than Red John likes this poem.

Theory #4663 • By RiDeircc
Show this theory

First of all, I would like to state that there are two theories. The first:
He Is MaCBETH

The ones who have read the play will know, that RJ and Macbeth have similiarities in their Modus Operandi: Both awake their victims, see their fear and then cut their throat.

Red John goes by the name of Roy Tagliaferro. Roy, has two roots, the Celtic one which means Red, and the latin one which means King. The historical Macbeth was known as the Red King, because of his red hair. Red hair is something Heller is putting up through the whole show, to every recurring female character(even Lisbon and Hightower, in early episodes have a reddish-black hair glow)

Dean Harken is 43(age of R.J), the actor Tim Curry is scottish(like Macbeth+Odd accent), he fits description, has informatic skills, is very cold blooded, according to Jane he likes scared people, he is member of the CDCA, a fictional agency, like CBI(counterpart of Jane), and he has Friends(it was plural in S2,i.e. O'Laughlin and ?Mancini on my opinion) at the FBI.

The Character of Jane is the Shakespearian Counterpart of Macbeth, Hamlet. Note the similiarity between 4x24 "The Crimson Hat" and Shakespeare's play. Hamlet is also featured in 4x20 "Something's Rotten in Redmund", where Jane plays the Ghost.

The Name, Dean Harken:Dean means Leader of a Cult, while Harken means bowing, obeying, and is spelled same as Harkin, which means Blood-Red color and Pig(at the Elliston farm, the animal shot was a Pig).

The list is not trust-able. I don't understand how did people
expect for Heller to say "Don't trust the list"... It would spoil the
show. And the Characters: Bret Stiles is a reasonable suspect, but it's
my 2nd theory, Bertram, Haffner and Smith are too stupid all of them
played by Jane, Kirkland too obvious, McAllister is long-forgotten,
while Partridge, I think Heller reads this forum and is using Partridge
to ignite the Fans, plus, Red John is cold blooded in his homicides, almost a purist, Partridge gets very exited by blood and violence.

Dean Harken is not a psychic, but his wife(or maybe his sister) Rosalind is. In the ancient religions, blind people had psychic powers such as clairvoyance. In this case, Rosalind is a mix of the characters of Lady Macbeth and the Three Sisters, who push Harken into killing, maybe she is the little girl Patrick and Alex frauded years ago and she wants vengeance.

During the Series, we've had hints of the existence of psychic powers: In the first season, the Witch who bows Cho before the lion(Jane says it's coincidence, but in a later episode he admits that there are no coincidences in the world). Also, Christina Frye is never exposed as fraud, thus leaving only the fact she is a psychic. Same with Sean Barlow. And in a moment, Jane tries to "solve the RJ case in dream", and says to Lisbon Mendelev had seen the Periodic Table in a deam(i.e. psychic vision).

Most likely, Jane had paranormal visions when he was in deep trance(strange how he never uses self-hypnosis to solve the cases). The paranormal phenomenons taking place while in deep trance are known by the old norse as Seidh. Seidh is a woman's magic, and Jane is, strangely a woman's name. Also Jane is too good to be simply a mentalist, he is a little more than that, maybe because he is very good at what he does, too good for my opinion...

I Think Red John will be revealed probably to be Brett Partridge :
          Reasons are:
Heller's assessment of Brett partridge:

Brett Partridge (Jack Plotnick): "You've always got to be suspicious of the nerds," Heller cautions. "He's both a slightly embittered soul and a very intelligent person. Someone who feels they've been underestimated, underrated and mistreated by the world. Demographically, he's right there where a profiler would say, 'Yeah.'" As far as his career choice as a forensic investigator, "That's exactly the kind of job that a serial killer would want to take up. That's exactly the interests that a serial killer would have. [But] he always appears slightly weedy. Is he concealing strength or is he really that flaccid a person? It's hard to tell."

Brett Stiles is maybe related to Brett Partridge in some way, which not only explains his Red John's connection to Visualize, but also explains why there are so many important people involved in covering up Red John's Trail.

Bob Kirkland is secretly connected to both Red John and Brett Stiles through Visualize. Bob Kirkland also masterminded what will be eventually revealed to be the phony death of Lorelei Martins, and the information he collected on Jane is what allowed Red John to produce the tape that seemed to suggest a psychic prediction of Jane's suspect list prior to her death, when in fact that tape was made more recently.

I accept the idea that "Brett Partridge is Red John",if Bruno Heller tells us the true side         of Partridge, I mean the mysterious side: intelligence, management and influence on           people.
