Red john is Sheriff Thomas McAllister im pretty sure of it he's the only one that hasn't appeared in a rj episode in s1e2 red hair in silver tape there was a women dead and he said people sure look different when there dead don't they ? (referring to jane) but not directly watch his facial expression he appeared out of nowhere when van pelt was walking while the wire camera was on her that shows he can move without being noticed... i think i found the big clue bruno heller was talking about in s6e1 the desert rose) there where 7 pigeons when lisbon walked into the room 1 flew out so there's 6 remaining but look at the pigeons there's 3 together and the other 3 are separate McAllister' Bertram & Smith are all together in the next episode Black Winged RedBird coincidence? i dont think so
Is there a homicide detective among the Mentalist fans here? Because if there is, it would be very interesting to get his/her views on who Red John might be. Not just the name of course, the whole story generated by a professional.
Brett Partridge is Red John! The last scene almost confirms this suspicion. One should note that the way Liz is nabbed, it's clearly like someone pulls her legs from below. Now it couldn't have been anyone else but Brett who as we know has fallen down and therefore, is the best person to grab her from below by her legs!

Probably nothing, but when the team go to get Kristina Frye from where RJ has her in S3, their is a paint brush on a stool or something, next to a bucket and lighting equipment. Move forward to last episode, when they go to the desert crime scene with Brett Partridge. Exact same type of paint brush is in one of the shots haha.
