Ok, First of all. Let us assume that all what Bruno Heller said was true. He said that one of the 7 suspects is infact Red John. Let us do an elimination process by connecting the things Heller said.

Brett Partridge - Heller said he is dead so let us cross him out of the list

Bob Kirkland - On 2011, Heller said that Red John is someone we know and Kirkland appeared on 2012 so let us cross him out as well.

Reede Smith - We all know that he cannot be Red John since he is too fat to fit the Red John we saw who kidnapped PJ.

Bret Stiles - Sophie Miller said on the recorder that he is on his mid-thirties and Stiles obviously is not.

*That leaves us with 3 Suspects: Bertram, Haffner and Sheriff Tom McAllister.

Most of you thinks it is Haffner which is possible because of the whistle he did after talking to Lisbon. And he calls her Teresa just like Red John does. And when Sophie Miller said on the recorder that he is a great whistler, they showed Thomas Mcallister so you all assume that it is Haffner since they didnt show him.

But they obviously meant to do that so that we will think it is Haffner. I mean we all know how the Mentalist writers think, and it is usually difficult to predict who is the murderer in each episode. So I dont think they will make it that obvious.

That leaves us with Bertram and McAllister.
Personally, I think that Bertram is innocent just in my opinion. So I'm going with Thomas McAllister. But its still possible it is Bertram or Haffner since there is no valid point that they cant be Red John.

Jane says he finds Partridge 'Irksome'. This is Jane using his using his amazing intuition. His deceased psychologist made a similar comment about Red John. Think about that.

There are at least three scenes in this series where the screen shot shows Jane and Partridge in a standoff, sizing each other up. NO other suspect on the list of seven has been given this full screen treatment. It's not an accident.

Based on the info we learn from S6 Ep 2, I think RJ is not 1, but a number of different suspects together from the list that Jane has compiled.

When you think about it, this would explain so much as to how he covers so much ground in such a short amount of time and keeps on the tracks of Jane and the CBI team so promptly - enough so as to stay one step ahead.

I think the meeting between Bertram, Reede Smith and McAllister gave a really big hint in the latest episode as all 3 of them could be working together under the single banner of "Red John."

Unsure as to who is the lead in the operation, based on the small conversation conducted between Smith and Bertram soon after Jane interrupted their meeting at the CBI, I think they are all involved. Considering that Smith also freely brought up the topic of Jane and questioned "How much he knows?" to Bertram in front of McAllister, he would also have to be involved otherwise "RJ" would be releasing privileged information to an outsider.

In this trio:
Bertram would be the CBI intel as he would have eyes on Jane, Lisbon and the rest of the CBI team round-the-clock.
Smith would be an inside-man from the FBI and he would provide more top-secret utilities towards the trio as he would be able to access government documents and track people secretly. This is best described when RJ found out about the tracking that Lisbon ordered Van Pelt to put on each of the 7 suspects - Smith would be the ideal candidate here.
McAllister would be the rural addition to the trio as he can cover a lot of ground out in the rural areas where RJ is said to be a "local" - particularly evident in the cases with the "twin sisters" and "Roy Tagliafero".

Red John has been evident throughout the series in all of these scenarios and each of them make sense after you think about the finer details of the series. This theory also makes the series a lot more believable - considering that "many hands make light work."

This is what I think....

There is no Red John. Red John is a creation That allows the CBI to harness PJ's psychic abilities in order to solve crimes. Let's not forget that Jane only joined the investigation/CBI group to get to Red John. If there was no Red John for Jane to pursue, then he would never of joined the force. Possibly, the Murder of Jane's Family was done by another person and the CBI created a fictional 'Red John' that gave Jane a reason to Join the CBI. Jane is a huge asset to the team as without him, they would be nothing (He solves nearly every crime). The Red John 'evidence' has all been put together by the team to manipulate Jane into thinking there is a real 'Red John' which encourages him to pursue RJ, which in turn, allows him to stay with the CBI.

Also, it's extremely unlikely (although it is fictional) that more than one person could be doing an inside job and working for RJ (or be RJ). The police and investigative force are not that corrupt, are they? Considering most of the seven suspects are working for police or CBI etc, it's likely they could be all working together considering the commonality of their jobs. This could reinforce my theory that they have all created Red John off a series of random murders and allowed Patrick Jane to pursue a Fictional Person in order to satisfy the CBI's needs.

Just a thought, but considering how the story is going at the moment, it's probley unlikely lol

The blind woman that used to be red johns lover, Harker Rosalind. She has popped up in a few episodes, and has the perfect cover. She's blind, therefore physically implausible to commit these crimes. But what if she wasn't blind? She would be able to commit these murders. She also has red hair. While this doesn't mean that this is the primary cause for her being red john, many red heads have nick names relating to their hair. Harker would be the perfect red john because viewers are shown how incapable she is, requiring meticulous motions and touch just to live out day to day life. Everyone discounts her as a suspect because she can't see. But I think this is a ruse, so that no one suspects her. When Patrick first began making a list of people that red john could be, after the hint from Lorelei, he didn't count women, because an assumption that red john was male was made (this was due to being referred to as 'him', the statistical likelihood of red john being female, and john being a male name). What better way for Harker Rosalind to cover up her being red john?

Okay, so let me start this off by saying I was so sure it had to be Partridge. He appeared in the first episode, his first words were "Red John enters here...", Jane called RJ a showman, Partridge walked Jane and co. through the details of the crime scene in the first episode as if he were on stage etc. That's until he died, and Bruno Heller says he is legit dead as well, which I was questioning considering we were all so sure it had to be him. When RJ took down Lisbon in the house, she appeared to be pulled back from behind. Lisbon was standing directly in front of a window, nobody came through that door which magically opened - no space. The only explanations are that it was someone outside the window, or Partridge attacked her from a grounded position. In S6E2, it was mentioned that Lisbon was unharmed, but she had been tasered. Partridge could easily have tasered her from the ground. But Heller says he'd dead. So, reluctantly, I'll have to leave that one.

Heller says the list is legit and if RJ is on that list, it's probably Kirkland, with him having some sort of paternal relationship with Stiles. None of the other 4 are disciples, despite how much everyone wants them (or just Bertram) to be.

But here's the ACTUAL theory. As someone who doesn't usually engage in 'conspiracy theories' or try and read too much into some hidden meaning that probably isn't even there, I thought I would indulge myself just this once... Right before RJ calls Jane (apparently from Lisbon's phone) in S6E1, Jane asks CBI Ron (the guy who is in the team and ALWAYS around, but NEVER has any lines lol) if he has seen Lisbon. He says no. Could be a hint. He also has his phone out at that point. He walks off camera, then Jane receives that phone call. When Jane was on the phone to RJ, the camera showed RJ holding his knife in his left hand and wiping blood off with his right. Neither of his hands were free, so how was he talking to Jane? Could have been using a headset, sure, but is it too weird to suggest that Lisbon wasn't killed by RJ because he wasn't there? I'm sure RJ could get his hands on the technology to make a phone call appear as if it is being made from another's phone. Ron could have attacked Partridge (who was clearly some kind of disciple or something), and left and gone back to CBI, and have the other person (Kirkland maybe) attack Lisbon. At CBI, Ron could have made that phone call to Jane after he got confirmation Lisbon was down (you don't have to be RJ to taser someone - anyone could do that). Also, when Lisbon's face was being painted, the assailant didn't use three fingers like RJ does (maybe because he was painting on a smaller space). This may all seem a little light, and it's probably Kirkland (even though he killed that guy in the hospital in a totally not RJ way). He was in that limo, that RJ is associated with etc but whatever, I'm clutching at straws now it's apparently definitely not Partridge. What do you think?
