LATEST THEORIES

Basically everyone who appeared in Lisbon's dream (assuming people are up-to-date)
are relative to the core plot within the Red John story arc, at this stage it's pretty clear those men are all a part of the so called 'network' of Red John's people.
The show has sited Jung and reveals truth in dreams.
This dream however deliberately avoids including Brent Stiles.
Clearly the man is one of the only ones capable of influencing peoples minds n hearts,
to flip the logic on it's head and make the cult like Red John image work.
He is a tremendous actor therefore worthy of the role of Red John.
He was very clever in getting into Van Plet's head very quickly, he's rich powerful and really the only one who could match Jane. The others are minions and have taken on important roles in the whole operation. Jane cashed in an important favor from him at one time also that lead to the assumption that despite his virtue as a cult leader he remains in touch with the underground parts.
He will be able to give the script a good read play the part well, vex minds and be hidden the longest. If anything, I would see this as a safe and logical step in the already 6 season arc, I mean come on!

I don't know who is Red John but i have some clues i don't know how many of you have watched the movie Red Dragon with Hanibal Lector...The movie is based on serial killer character that is trancending and  becoming the seven headed beast from William Blake's painting The Great Red Dragon. In the Mentalist there is and episode called The Great Red Dragon and Red John always recited Tiger Tiger which is a William Blake's poem.Bonus round:The lover of the serial killer Red Dragon is blind and so is Red John's lover.

RJ is a ventriloquist. He speaks with his hands and suffers from coulrophobia.

I don't know why everyone is talking about gps devices as some kind of solid evidence.
As we saw before RJ is not some kind of a beginner. He knew about trackers and if he's on the list of 7  for sure  he didn't bring his phone while "working".
Jane knew from the beginning that RJ will find out about the trackers.
The question is what is he offering to his minions so they follow him and die for him.
He is not a lonely psychopath but a mentalist who can control and give orders to high ranking people in state law enforcement agencies.
That person must have qualities of PJ, Mashburn and Stiles.

It's very much possible because only that explains why PJ was telling Lisbon about searching for a file in his psychologist's house when he knew before hand that she only records and he already has that record. It was just to confirm his (PJ) doubt that the woman was spying them so that it would send a wrong signal to RJ and lead him in the wrong way. PJ is in the driver's seat by doing that. He knew RJ or an accomplice would come to spy on him and Lisbon after he told Bertram (very likely to be an accomplice) that he has made progress.
So either Partridge is RJ or an accomplice but I'm sure he's alive. That explains only one GPS tracker point in that address. I'm suspecting that Bertram would have ordered his men to silently clean up Partridge out of that place into hiding! Also my hunch on how in the first episode itself PJ meets Partridge! Very dramatic indeed. So IMO, it could be him as RJ or RJ's right hand.

My other doubts are on Walter Mashburn based on others' theory I read here. Very very pCokmemts?

I've been asking myself why would Jane include sheriff McAllister in his list, when we only see him once, which was way back in season one, when Jane played him like a fish.

Even in his recent appearance in season six we barely notice him. He just doesn't seem to have the smarts to be Red John, but somehow Jane mentions him as a suspect.

I remembered his season one appearance. Do you know why? It's because the character is played by Xander Barkerly. I ask myself why would a well seasoned actor like Xander Barkerly appear as a guest in The Mentalist as a lowly sheriff? The answer is, it's because he is Red John. And he is playing at being super dumb, so that he would fool Jane and everyone else around him. Its him. I'm very sure about this.

Sheriff Thomas McAllister is Red John.

I'm not really sure who Red John is, but I really don't think it's Patrick Jane. Great theory, but if you revisit Red John episodes where PJ interacts with people who knew Red John, the interactions just don't make sense. I like Kristina Frye for Red John - "psychic," supposedly abducted by RJ, the mute routine/PJ hypnosis episode, ect. The Lorelei comment about the first time PJ shook his hand casts doubt on Kristina Frye, but otherwise she may fit. If this were a proper soap opera, her gender wouldn't be a hiccup in the theory - she used to be a man and had gender reassignment surgery!
