I'm still trying to figure out how RJ compiled the list of 7 suspects. To me this is the biggest curiosity yet to be explained. In my opinion it can't be via Kirkland's theft of Jane's board and material for one simple reason. We see Kirkland is still studying the board AFTER the list has been compliled.

If Kirkland is RJ or an RJ confederate then he wouldn't be studying Jane's board after the list had been made so he appears to be actively hunting RJ for his own purposes.

Truthfully flaws can be found for each of the suspects but from a simple description perspective Smith, McAllister and Stiles just don't fit the criteria. Smith is fat & Stiles & McAllister are old. Partridge is dead so that leaves Haffner and Bertram both of which have been pointed at pretty strongly as being RJ. I'm guessing Haffner but in reality he and Bertram are too tall based on Rosalind's description.

All I know is the first two episodes of the season have grabbed me again. I can't wait to see how this all plays out!

Partridge - pard tiger ---> part-tiger, tiger's partner?
pard - archaic form of leopard - from Greek "pardos" - male panther

"The panther is a gentle beast; only the dragon is its enemy."

"The panther (pantera) takes its name from the Greek word for "all" (pan), because the panther is the friend of all beasts other than the dragon."

"Panthers are light-colored but have small spots like eyes. Their wonderful smell attracts all four-footed creatures, but the savagery of their heads frightens the creatures away. Therefore, to catch prey, panthers hide their heads as their smell attracts the prey animals within reach. Some people say that panthers have a mark on their shoulder that resembles a crescent moon."

Is Red John a panther?

(Pan)Ter-esa? It's All about Teresa?

I have a very strong feeling that it's CBI Ron. As stated before, Bruno said that RJ is more of a Where's Waldo in the series and that's exactly what Ron has been from the start. He is always popping up, even in the season finale when Patrick killed who he thought was RJ at the time in the mall.

From a writers perspective, why would they have Ron hanging around here and there for 6 seasons? This isn't the type of show that has the same extras just hanging out in the background week after week, so there has to be a reason he is there. Ron just blends into the crowed and nobody suspects him of a thing, even when he seems a bit fishy such as this season already and in the past.

Just my thoughts to add to the conversation.

Wow guys , you really make me laugh ! Can you please stop posting stupid theories about Partridge being Red John ? He is so dead , it was confirmed by Heller and by Plotnick himself ! Why would they lie ? You guys are too obsessed with the ideea of Partridge being Red John so you can't get it out of your mind . As for Jane being Red John , those theories are the most stupid i have ever read on this site . It makes nonsense and this will also make this show a totally crap one ! So please , use your head and just stop posting useless theories .
My money goes on Haffner or maybe Stiles (but he seems a little bit too old .. )
Cheers!

I don't think Rosalind's description can be trusted at all
- She was in love with Roy Tagliaferro and refuses to accept that he's Red John. Even after he dumps a body in her house.

She describes him as just under 6' tall, not strong but not soft, and with short straight hair.
- That's the most vague average description you could think of
- That describes half of all men ever. It's certainly a perfect description of me.

I think she purposely gave the description of an average man. She isn't going to actively lead the police to her lover. Like she said, she doesn't live in our world. Why would she care about our investigations?
