LATEST THEORIES

Walter Mashburn=Robert "Bob" Kirkland=Red John

I feel that you have to take the entire series into consideration to find out who Red John really is.

Walter Mashburn always appeared strange and totally qualifies to be Red John, but in this text I wont focus on what makes him a Red John suspect, but rather how he can be the same person as Robert Kirkland.
For some reason Mashburn was completely removed from the series, about the same time that Patrick Jane killed "Red John" (Timothy Carter). I don't know if it's just me, but I can see strong resemblances between Walter Mashburn and Timothy Carter, which isn't strange since Timothy is trying to imitate Red John.

Walter Mashburn's latest appearance in the series was in the episode "Red Hot" (S03E07).
Robert Kirkland doesn't appear in the series until "Red Dawn" (S05E05), which means that Mashburn had more than enough time for plastic surgery (and more than enough money to afford it).

This could be the reason why Kirkland asked Jason Lennon if he recognized him before killing him.

Mashburn was a suspect on Jane's original suspect list (people he had shaked hands with), but he isn't on the latest list. Robert Kirkland is on the latest list, while he isn't on the first one. So, when Heller says Red John is definitely on the list, he isn't lying. His identity has just changed.

In the latest episode (S06E02) Rigsby checks the names of Sophie Miller's patients. Jane immediately focus on the name Jay Roth, due to Roth meaning Red. I think this is a red herring, and not Red John himself. Another patient is Mitchel Livingston Washburn, whom I think is the real Red John (Mashburn, Washburn, M/W upside down).

If this is true, nothing in Sophie Miller's recording about Jay Roth can be taken into consideration, which means that the part about a phobia is another red herring, which might lead to one of Red John's accomplices, but not Red John himself.

I guess several of the names on the list can be accomplices of Red John, but I don't want to believe that the majority of them are. Brett Partridge can for sure be an accomplice, but I don't think all of Bertram, McAllistor and Smith are.

I might have missed something here, but right now it's all I come to think of.

Anyways, my main suspect for Red John is Walter Mashburn, in the appearance of Robert Kirkland.

If we go back to season 6 episode 01. We see Partridge seemingly "slaughtered" by Red John. If Red John already knows Jane's list, surely killing one of the suspects would increase the chances of the other 6 suspects being Red John. In addition, why would Partridge say "Tyger Tyger" before dying? Maybe because he is Roy Tagliaferro. Jane describes Partridge as a showman: someone who wants to strike fear into his victims, which is shown by the intricate way he kills his victims. I think Partridge is Red John, but set the killing of Sophie up in advance before his death, to try and confuse Jane and put on the perfect show. However, we know Red John started killing a long time ago, probably before Partridge's time. Which leads me to believe, that someone else was the original Red John, such as Brett Styles? But in old age, he found he was no longer capable to carry out the killings and entrusted Partridge to continue his legacy. Furthermore, the person who hit Lisbon on the head was probably an accomplice of Partridge.

To conclude, Partridge is the present Red John however sacrificed himself, in order to confuse Jane and put on the best show possible.

Anyway this is just a hunch. Might not be correct but who knows.

Hello every one. My name is Panithi(You may think it's an odd name. I'm Thai.). If you have any thoughts, please tell me. I will be glad hearing your comments. And, this is my last theory.
Now, let's start
First, Partridge is dead. If Partridge isn't, Heller will look like a fraud. So I think BP is dead
Second, Smith was too fat for red john in season 2 finale
Third, Kirkland isn't RJ because of when they shook hands, lorelei is in jail.
Fourth, Haffner. He isn't wearing a wedding ring. And if he is RJ, He doesn't need to change his job.
Fifth, Stiles doesn't wear a ring too.

That leaves Bertram and Sheriff.
look at the facts.
RJ wants PJ to be in jail. Bertram too.

Kirkland is RJ's friend. Why, he killed Jason Lennon without asking about rj so he wasn't the man who want to catches RJ and He isn't RJ.
When Bertram talked with Kirkland "Can we trust anyone?" He used we. they are a team.

RJ knows about PJ when he was a boy. The carnival
Bertram says "the boy wonder" in season 3 premiere. The boy wonder is the name PJ use when he was with his father Alex Jane.

RJ must've shook hands with PJ in the public so Lorelei can see.
GB shook hands with PJ in the crime scene.

RJ says in the letter to PJ when RJ killed PJ's wife, "I do not wanted to be slandered to the media.
GB cares a lot about the media too.

Now, the most important clue.
In season 3 finale.
PJ is in jail as red john wants.
Why is PJ in jail? Becaused he killed Carter.
How did he recognise Carter? Because O'laughlin's dead and Jane ask Lisbon for redialing every phone number
How did O' lauglin's dead? Because Jane knows about Craig's the inside man of RJ
How did Patrick knows? Bertram says it.
See? More than that, when Bertram's leaving he goes and see Carter. And, everything will be understandable why the plan of Jane doesn't work. AND, when the assasin died(suicide), she smiles. THAT IS NO COINCIDENCE.

Let's see more. Bertram wants Hightower in charge of the team. Why, so he could frame Hightower for killing Todd Johnson. Right?

Now let's go back to season 2 his red right hand episode. when Rebecca was going to the basement, RJ poisoned her. If it was Tom, how could he know that when Jane will interview Rebecca finish? If it was Bertram, He could. It wouldn't take long for going there right? And Bertram is Big Enough for being red john. Like Thomas, how could he have money?

And, someone of you thinks that Gale Bertram is too big to go to Sophie Miller's house. RJ has lots of accomplices. He could use his accomplice to go there. Someone that make Sophie cannot read his mind. Who, my bet is on Kirkland.

Jared Renfrew was killed in Mexico. The letters on the wall remains 2 things:
1. It was a fake because it wasn't at the top of Jared Renfrew. It was at the woman.

2. Jared says he is a friend of a friend of RJ. That must've been RJ's friend. It looks like He is Man. Maybe it is Judge Manchester. And you know who is a friend of Manchester. Bertram

Firstly let me start with telling i am not sure who RED JOHN is ... But i want to share that four out of seven suspects contacted each other at some point of time in a situation relating to RED JOHN.

Proof :- In s05e08 Bob Kirkland in talking to Thomas McAllister on phone about bringing CBI instead of marshals for the barn case.

In s06e02 Bertam,Smith and Tom again have a meeting. So one might conclude that all these three people are not intimidating enough to be Red john.

Now left with haffner ,Stiles,Partridge,Bob

Haffner has been fooled by Jane and he seems to be more of a laborer for visualise.

left with Stiles , Partridge ,Bob

Stiles is too old to be called a kid 25 yrs ago.so leaves us with partridge and Bob.

now considering Partridge is dead .BOB KIRKLAND has all the qualities to be Red John ,He is authoritative ,intimidating and his mannerisms are weird , looks like he is concerned about keeping things in in place like most of serial killers.

So my bet would be BOB KIRKLAND !!!!!!!

Some people think that when Heller said "You can trust the list" that it meant RJ is on the list.

I think it meant you can trust the people on the list. None of them are RJ.

I still think that Jane is in the process of setting RJ up.

I believe that several of the people on the list suspect that Jane is RJ-hence the meeting in Bertram's office where
Reede tells Bertram it's his job to know what Jane is up to.

I believe that Partridge is indeed alive and that he is a wannabe RJ trying to insert himself in the action. That woman on the bench feeding the pigeons sure looked like Partridge.

Jane repeatedly relies on creating a diversion in order to solve his crimes.

The identity of Red John is revealed in episode 7, yet I think it won't be the real Red John.

Partiridge is a copy cat. Tyger,Tyger.

Copy that?
