LATEST THEORIES

There has to be something with the pigeons...one flown away in s06e01, one in s06e03...SO, two down...4 more to be in following episodes...

I'm down to 2.
My original and still current guess Bertram and then the dead man Partridge.
I want to see Partridge moaned in an open coffin, and to be sure he is dead. Otherwise all the Red Dragon and anything related to Tyger Tyger poet starts to be heavy weight resurrection evidence.

The elegance of season 3 final has left me to wonder why did Jane, by influence of RJ?, suddenly get so confident of how the room arrangement was indicated. He drove Bertram away, as a "wrong" subject.
PJ: "Walk away!"
RJ: "There will be consequences! Mark my words."

The remaining characters are just not enough "at plain sight" as these 2 have been.

I wonder why people are inclined to take on the clues which are the most concrete? Perhaps I'm too inclined to the subtle (plain at sight) clues...

After watching 6x03 nobody seems to have mentioned the SHOES. McAllister is wearing the same style shoes as red john did in 'red sky in the morning'. It's probably nothing but I'm surprised nobody seems to have noticed as they even made a point of it as McAllister even mentioned his shoes.

Regarding the Psychiatrist-Profile of RedJohn: He has a real phobia issue, it remains to be seen if it is fear-of-heights.

Thomas McAllister obviously didn't want to climb that ladder in the church. He also didn't want to go to the edge of the bella-vista-view on top of that hill. Until that point I was convinced that he actually does have fear of heights (regardless if this makes him RJ or not). Bodylanguage and superficial excuses made me think so. McAllister communicated a fearful behavior.

At the end of the episode however he balances easily and completely fearless on the roof of the church to save patrick. This was kind of a twist in that episode. Now to Patrick and Theresa this fearless bevavior may rule out Thomas McAllister as actual Red John.

To me however it only proves that Thomas is very deceptive and manipulative. He really totally communicated a fear of heights. Yet he does not have it.

Such a discrepancy. Why would anyone --> fake <-- a fear?

He overcomes his (faked) fear to save patrick. That definitely had an impact on him. Imagine someone afraid of swimming jumps into the water to save you from drowning. That does have an impact on a person.

We know Red John wants to be friends with Patrick. Now McAllister saved his life and even says "my pleasure, at your disposal any time".

When McAllister shoots the guy on the rooftop he says "Now he's talking directly to Jesus!". That made me laugh out loudly :) ... and then I thought: Well, he just killed a human being and is making fun out of that death and fun out of the afterlife. I know Police officers who use a gun for self defense and need a therapy afterwards. So again: A huge gap, a huge discrepancy in personality.

Furthermore: McAllister does have a very good olfaction, even better than Patrick. He smells the oregano at the dead body. And that "wrong Red John" who got shot in the shopping mall was told by the real Red John about the smell of Patricks Family. Well WHY the smell? He could tell some visual details or facts. Yet he talks about facts regarding olfaction. This is a little connection.

Last but not least: In that scene where Bertram, Reede Smith and McAllister sit in Bertram's office it is McAllister that offers Patrick "Call me Tom". That was the first time McAllister appears since the Season 01 appearance. He offers Patrick the hand of friendship: "Call me Tom."

I just watched the rooftop-scene again and the second McAllister helps Patrick back up on the roof he (only for a second) grabs his gun. And says: "Go!". That was an off moment. Have a look.

To find Red John, you need to analyze the entirety of the evidence, not just a single item (like the way he held his teacup).  What do we know about him?

He is male.

He kills women because he has some issue with them.  He only kills men when they get in the way.

He is powerful and has many friends in law enforcement who instantly give him all of the information that he needs.  As well as many other friends in all walks of life.

He is very wealthy (he can set up dummy companies, buy a farm to hold a girl for a friend, fly down to Mexico in no time send a limo to get Patrick that gets shot up and is untraceable, etc, etc.)

He is charming.  This is key.  He is not some creepy guy.  He can convince a multitude of people to do terrible things.  He has lots of friends and is generous with them.

He is incredibly smart.  He has outplanned and outwitted everyone for years.

He has a life where he will not be missed by anyone when he needs to do his Red John thing.

He was in Visualize "as a kid."  In 1988.  Making him about 45+ now. (rules out Stiles)

He killed two (male) co-workers in 1988, but didn't start killing women until 1998.

He is about 6' tall, short straight hair and average build (rules out Bertram, and Smith)

He doesn't want to kill Patrick Jane or Teresa Lisbon.  We can guess from that that he likes them (or at least likes sparring with them).

He shook hands with Jane before season 5 since Lorelei was in custody by then. (by the way, this rules out both Reede Smith and Bob Kirkland).

He has some kind of phobia.

He is very proud of what he does and how he has outsmarted Jane and not been caught.

OK.  So who of the 7 suspects fits this description.  Answer: no one.  And even if that were not the case, the list was stolen and Jane knew it and was happy when it happened.  So it is obviously bogus.  The real list was in his notebook.

So of all of the characters on the show the entire series, how many fit this description?  One.  Walter Mashburn.

Lots of the characteristics are obvious.  The physical look.  The money and connections.  Less obvious:

He was in reform school "as a kid."  Not a great leap to think that he was in Visualize.

He had a problem with his mother (who he called "Mr. Mashburn.")  He also had the love of his life break their engagement, and when that happened "something inside him cracked."  He used to be sweet, but then he changed.

He sold his company "for billions."  Right around 1998.

He has "a mild dirt phobia."

He was very antagonistic toward Jane when he first meets him.  But then he gets to know him and really likes him (and Jane likes him back).  And it is only a few episodes after they meet that Red John saves Janes life.

I always wondered why Red John would be watching some talk show where Jane was on, saw him diss Red John, and then managed to find where Jane lived, got there, killed his wife and daughter, wrote and left a typewriten note (including the fact that Jane had a daughter), and got out of there before Jane got back from the TV studio to his house.  But I remembered when Mashburn said his former wife was into all that mumbo jumbo.  My bet is that Jane was her psychic.  Or at least Mashburn already knew about Jane.  So he was watching the show and knew where he lived.

He is absolutely the most charming character the show has had.  Other than Jane.  The two make the perfect symmetry.  Tyger Tyger.

I don't believe it is Thomas McAllister, however so far we've had more hints towaqrd him than everyone else. In the latest episode, we learnt he was afraid of heights, people may argue that he was up on the roof at the end, but i think RJ would do anything to keep PJ alive, don't you? And just to add he was shitting bricks when the pigeon flew in! and who's afraid of pigeons? That's right,RED JOHN! Just as an extra little bit, probably insignificant, but when on the phone with Jane, he sounded a bit like Red John with a deeper voice! He was also able to read the dead guy quite well! Just my theory:-)

Hi I just want to share a few thoughts with you.

How does PJ catch a killer ?

1rst method : keeping some secret information so
that he gets an advantage on the suspects. That's the method PJ is supposed to
use right now to catch RJ.

2nd method : feed suspects with false
information to mislead them and get them do mistakes.

Now Just imagine the 2nd method is the
actual method PJ is using to catch RJ...
Who was fed with PJ info ? His own team (PJ is too
clever not to know that Lisbon would tell her Team)

I think RJ could be in Lisbon's Team...

About the list of 7 : Yeah, Heller told us this
list was trustable. To me Heller thiks the same way Patrick does :  Giving us false infos to
mislead us. I think the list of 7 is a trap for our mind.

Thanks for reading. What do you think ?
