I am still surprise some people are still suspecting Mcallister. A recent video was posted stating that the homeland security has been spying on jane for 9 years. Clearly the hints such as whistling was part of deception which made us believe that MCallister is Red John. Kirkland ends up torturing Patrick Jane in a future episode.

My bet is Thomas Macallister; he is a sheriff, he moves in the country, he has a lot of freedom to do what he wants. He has no living family.  His blood lust can be easily seen: as well as his primitive strength necessary to be red john. What it is not evident its his intelligence (but as Jane recognizes, he looks more dumb than what really is).  He is an old fox knows how to move without being seen (see Van Pelt season 1 episode 2), he needs to be in total control of the environment around him in order to reveal himself(he admires Bach rigor in music). Brett Stiles knows him as it should be since they have similar ages(probably they were kind of buddies at the Ellison farm).

I have been watching this show from the beginning, always had a sneaking suspision that Brett Stiles has something to do with the RJ case...possibily orchestrating others. RJ does not work alone "he has many friends". There is a duality I haven't noticed anyone on the forums state related to tyger, tyger...could BRETT partridge and BRETT stiles play into that duality...father/son, who knows. I have always though brett and patrick were the only truly charismatic characters on the show so the solution involved them somehow...the other characters are simply too boring, mundane, some obsese (smith), not wealthy enough etc..and most just do not have the AURA or personal characteristics of someone who would be orchestrating this whole big ploy against patrick. I do think there is some connection to Vanpelt and Krystina Frey - the red hair and creeply calm demenours (not to mention open/intiutive characteristics) are no concidence. Overall though these are just pipe dreams/ideas/feelings I've had since the beginning but one thing I really believe is that we, the audience, are being mislead constantly by the producer and characters on the show who give us outright ' clues' about RJ...very few of which I think will prove accurate (red herrings). I think there has been a lot of deception about the real RJ from these sources, so be careful what you buy into and believe. I think the moral/main idea once this (amazing!) show has ended will be the importance of going with your gut, even when others are telling you different facts. Intuition is a big theme in this show so I am on edge waiting to see how this plays out for the final finale...what is the morale for the audience here?! I would love to ask Patrick Jane right NOW on gut reaction who he believes RJ is. I believe he knows in his gut but is unable to prove it. Don't fall for the red herrings, go with your gut. Brett Stiles is involved!

its simple. look at the seven suspects, and look at the facts, he is a mid age man, there for we eliminate the old ones, and we have ...kirkland , hafftner, smith and partdidge, the last one is dead so we have 3, red john does have a firm body but not very muscle, so smith is out for being fat, we have 2..Kirkland kills Jason Lennon by injecting him with an empty syringe,
causing an air embolus which stopped his heart. He asked Lennon if he
recognized him. Lennon said NOOO. And Kirkland said he was giving him a
peaceful death, lennon knew red john and he never gives peaceful death to nobody.
now we just have one, the one and only RAY HAFFNER

Wow!  I can't believe no one wrote about this yet!  It's not a theory but it's VERY OMINOUS!!!!  TWICE  Van Pelt and Rigsby mentioned how the rules were lifted about inner office fraternizing.  Sounds great, right?  Yes!  Now they can date.  They can get married.  They can even keep their beloved jobs at the CBI.   Oh wait.....  no.  They are leaving very soon.  Something tells me they will not be driving off into the sunset.

If I recall  ... spoilers said that that Van Pelt and Rigsbys departure would have some form of impact on the RJ case.  Who knows, maybe Grace has been under Bret Styles hypnotic/ transference since that day she met him and has been an unsuspecting mole all along.  Maybe that Kubrick smiley thing on their Just Married sign wasn't too far off the mark.

One thing is for sure... there was NO reason to have the CBI lift the fraternizing policy right at this time only to have them marry  ....then leave.  Whats the point?

Btw...I love how more and more people are seeming to accept the Mashburn theory.  Welcome!

Red John is not a single individual, but it is in fact a cult of sorts. Patrick Jane may or may not be a member.

This is not really a good theory about who is Red John, It's more about the relationship between Kirkland, Bertram, Reede Smith, McAllister and Darcy.
I think that they all think Jane is Red John (for some good reason, I hope), remember, Darcy says something about it in 4 season.
Kirkland is watching Jane since he became a CBI consultant. So, Kirkland called this "time" to keep an eye on Patrick.

But we all know that Jane is not Red John.

I think Red John is Thomas McAllister. He is taken out from suspects by not having fear of heights at the end of the episode, but he is afraid of pigeons. In S06E02 we learned some things about Red John, including that he may have a fear of heights and can whistles really good, all those things have been explored, but not the pigeons. They appear in the first episode of this season and has not yet been cited by Jane or anyone besides. Still in S06E02  the camera focuses in the hands of this strange lady who is feeding the birds.
I believe that Sheriff Thomas McAllister is cheating with Kirkland and all others.

I also believe that there is an important role for Bret Stiles, there must be a reason why he has been included in the list of suspects: Shortly before the list episode , we learned that Red John is a middle-aged man, who had less than 30 in 1988, in addition, Stiles does not match the Rosalind description.

I am Brazilian, and I don't speak english, so i don't know if I made myself clear. If you can't understand something, please comment and i try to write better. And I'm sorry if someone posted some theory like mine before, i never see one similar.
