Patrick Jane's father.  He was quite upset when Patrick left the circus. He pepped Patrick up as though Patrick had a gift that surpassed his. He lied to keep Patrick under his control. Once Patrick felt the revelation that what he and his father were doing was immoral, he left and his father's control was gone. I bet he was sooo much more insane than what they led on in the early episodes to the point that if he couldn't have his son, no one would. Yet he wants to show Jane how much more of "mentalist" he is over his son.

Some people have been saying how did Red John make the call to Lisbon's phone as he was using 2 hands well when Red John rings Lisbon's phone it takes a couple of seconds for Jane to anwser it now he talks to Red John for roughly 7 seconds befor we first get a glimpse of Red John at the house and then it takes him about 10 seconds to draw just the mouth of the RJ smiley face so if we say it took him 10 seconds to draw the eyes and 10 seconds for the face part then he would have been drawing the face for about 30 seconds so a couple seconds to make the call then couple seconds for Jane to anwser it and 17 seconds roughly untill Red John hangs up means he would have been srawing the face about 13 seconds befor he made the call so to me this is  clear evidence that There were 2 people at the house that night mayby RJ and a helper as RJ woulodnt have been abble to make the call as he would have blood on his gloves :)

In a interview,the actor of Brett Pattridge say's that he play his role as if he was RJ so my guess is that BP was the first RJ by Bruno Heller but so many people have done videos on youtube or blog about him to be RJ so I think he just decide to switch everything because everyone think it was Pattridge after like 3 season so that was just not a clue anymore.just a though i got when i read the interview.

Maybe it's Mr.Jane himself!
He might be the crazy one that imagines and destroys many things he values.
I believe  everyone knows its Jane but looking for clues.

Just want to point this out:

Red John is supposed to be a "loner", who uses his influence/power to get others to do his bidding. Has anyone noticed that McAllister has worn a wedding band since we first saw him? In my opinion, this just rules him out even more as a suspect.

En la temporada 5 hay un capitulo lleno de simbolismos, en el,cual jane resuelve un caso, solo con la ayuda de su subconsiente, es tan obvio el simbolismo que nos da la serie que hasta miedo da, jane toma te de belladona, y en su viaje, visitanvarios lugares e inclusive , participa en la toma de deckaracion de una mucama latina, que le dice que vio hormigas negras y eso essimbolonquenalgo malo va a ocurrir, luego le entrega su garra de agula y le dice, ten , esto te ayudara a encontrar al responsable.... posteriormente jane sale... y cuando regresa de su viaje de belladona, jamas hace referencia de nuevo a esa mucama latina.  Ahora observa el capitulo y dime... que hace jane despues con esa garra, inmediatamente despues de salir a seguir al conejo?..
