I love Lisbon, don't get me wrong, I adore her and I've always wanted her to be with Jane. I've never questioned her loyalty up until the episode where she finds Patridge. I found it odd that Red John kept her alive, why would he keep her alive when he hasn't shown mercy to Jane in the past.

I though about Jane being RJ but he got the call about Lisbon so he wasn't there. I don't think she is RJ but I do think she might be involved with him somehow. Why would he spare her?

This is a link to my previous theory, which analysed each suspect.

I just wanted to talk about the physical description we have been given of RJ. It is from 5 years ago now and in that time a person's physical appearance could easily change.

Sheriff McAllister

RJ could be balding and that could explain why the Sheriff would be a viable suspect as his personality and traits already match with what RJ would have. Also, it is implied that he has a fear of pigeons from 6x03, however, the pigeon phobia could be a red herring.

Reede Smith

I believe people are looking past Smith too easily. Everyone is saying he is too large to be RJ but it is possible that RJ has gained weight during those 5 years. This is the type of thing RJ would do to deceive everyone, change his physical appearance! Furthermore, he seemed like the guy with the most authority in the meeting with Bertram and McAllister, plus he is a good whistler.

Thanks for reading my theory!

Brett Partridge Megatheory. If you like, please link to my theory :)

I guess you have to be slightly brave to jump into the world of my theory (I also recognise it's quite a leap) so it will never be on the popular page, heck, it may even be implausible'd into an early Red Grave. But if I can convince at least 1 person to see what's potentially happening, I'll be happy!

My theory is on what's actually going on in season 6. I know a lot of you will hate this but a precursor to my main theory is that Brett Partridge is Redjohn. I know you're already clicking implausible if you think he's dead, but Bruno Heller did say he was going to disappoint people (you). RJ's alias Brett Partridge is dead. RJ is very much alive.  For me, I'm looking at a combination of:-

1. Harker's description make him viable
2. Heller's clues + interviews match too well ("been there from the beginning") + more
3. Symmetry in season 2 between BP/PJ exchange + RJ/PJ exchange
4. Partridge's lines ("Red John enters here" his first line) ("amigo", "que pasa dude" to PJ after killing Renfrew) So much dramatic irony, this leads into point 5.
5. DVD purposes (BP is in there from s1)
6. Longer theory http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/6289
7. Shorter+extra info theory: http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/6310
8. Episode 7 called Great Red Dragon, where RJ is revealed; a quote about the very same seven-headed dragon "One of its heads was fatally wounded, but the wound was healed."
9. "A Brace of Partridge" fitting into the William Blake theme. "Tiger" is in the surnames of Tagliaferro and Partridge.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So. Starting from point 6. None of this will make sense unless you read the theory in point 6 or 7.

Patrick gets a very, very good look at Partridge in the desert. On the way driving at the end of the episode, when he calls Lisbon, he looks very happy and he has called Lisbon 4 times. (Scene with anonymous tip shows how many messages Jane's left).  You'd think if she had ignored him 4 times, Patrick would be slightly disconsolate or apologetic. But no, he's happy. He's got good news. He knows who RJ is.

If Partridge is RJ, judging from his expression at the end of the scene in season 6 episode 1 in the desert, he second guesses the unexpected emergence of flies will give him away to Patrick very quickly. Patrick has connected the phobia to a detail he remembers, pinning Partridge as RJ. RJ thinks/acts quickly, luring Lisbon to West Huron. He gets his accomplice, Haffner who is left handed, (Look at the way Partridge’s face is beaten up.) to help stage his death. He gets Haffner, who creepily likes Lisbon, to paint her face as a warning, as to show what he could have done. His message in Lorelei's video is clear. Its Redjohn vs Patrick, and nobody else should be involved. He wasn't happy with the surveillance, (maybe he got Haffner, an expert in surveillance, to help sort that one out). Look closely at Bertram’s reaction to his death. He’s hiding something. Look at Patrick’s lack of reaction.
Partridge sends Haffner the next day to Lisbon in the hospital. Carmen Lee, was a name Patrick remembers from being in the mental institution. RJ is spurring his rage, goading Patrick to accept the challenge and stay quiet but mainly distracting him so that Haffner could visit Lisbon. Lisbon together with the “Carmen Lee” message make Patrick realise that RJ got the happy memory from Miller. That's info RJ could easily have tortured out of Sophie Miller. Jane looks extremely pensive in the scene. Haffner is sent to make sure RJ's identity is a secret. Think about it, if Jane tells Lisbon that Partridge is RJ, she's dumb enough to be relieved and excited enough to tell Haffner, as she no longer suspects him. Haffner would kill her as retribution. Maybe Haffner was wielding the blade to slice Partridge up. He's left-handed. Ergo Haffner, who likes Lisbon, paints her face caressing it and looks very happy he doesn't have to kill her.

When RJ calls, Patrick says "Wait..." like he was in a position to bargain. RJ wasn't interested. But RJ had laid out some ground rules. Noone else should be involved. Episode 2, Patrick first takes Partridge's blood, for evidence if he killed RJ and RJ was too mangled after his own disfiguring session to look like BP. (Maybe he'll use it for a paternity test with Stiles? Who knows?) The blood was another gift from RJ, so that Patrick was sure he had everything he needs now, evidence who RJ is, for when he kills him.  And the 1 on 1 was almost set up.

Patrick goes into the room with Bertram, Reede and McCallister. Maybe RJ has given them (at least Bertram and Reede) explicit orders to stay out of this. I think McCallister is innocent, look at his reaction to Sophie Miller's fate + he gets a whole episode to himself to make us feel sorry for when RJ murders him. Don’t feel too bad though, he could be an accomplice. Check theory http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/6096 to see why I think he'll murder him.

Bertram and Reede are involved in a cover-up. They've been moles this whole time. Maybe they were extorted. In that scene, its crazy the amount of emphasis Jane places on the word "bugged". I think that is what freaks them out. He knows it's Partridge's phobia. They know Jane knows who RJ is. RJ passes a message to Patrick via Lisbon. Jane passes back a message to RJ via Bertram (or co-incidentally Bertram may have the room bugged for RJ's use anyway), basically saying "I will avenge Sophie." Reede and Bertram are just wondering if Jane knows enough to spear RJ and his 5 accomplices on the list, which includes them.

Jane meets Redjohn (the woman feeding the pigeons) at the bench. It's a figurative "Ready, set, let the games begin" kind of thing. Jane can't kill him as he's not carrying a gun or knows RJ has men placed to take out him and Lisbon who is also there should he "try something." Hence why he's staring at the pigeon for ages. Lisbon is about to leave, so Jane makes up some distractor conversation. Jane knows Sophie transcribes her notes through a vocal device. Why the heck would he ask for some notes he knows will be long gone; he already has the device.

Then finally, at the end of the episode he only lets Lisbon hear the recording after making sure there is nothing to conclusively pointing towards it being Partridge. He disguises the acaraphobia as acrophobia; he makes it a point to say it’s a fear of heights out loud.
In episode 3, Jane feigns intensity to investigate the other suspects (but he does reckon they’re accomplices by now – he’s not stupid) . So he will carry on the charade for Lisbon that one of the other 6 suspects is Redjohn. But comeon, Lisbon seems keener to point out his fear of heights than Jane. He stares at Partridge with a fiery intensity, but seems almost happy to be with McCallister. He's checking out if he's an accomplice at best (the hunting + stealth conversation). I take back, McCallister being innocent. Him picking up Jane to save his life shows RJ has truly made his "friends" back off.

Partridge- RJ
Bret Stiles- Partridge’s father
Haffner- Accomplice
Reede Smith- Accomplice
Bertram-Accomplice
McCallister- Accomplice who will be Murdered
Bob Kirkland- Vendetta/murdered

The guessing of the list is quite easy. 6 of these 7 guys are RJ's men. ALL of their names are written out in full, e.g. Raymond Haffner. Jane has never met any other of RJ's law enforcement friends.

Bob Kirkland's full name is Robert Kirkland. On the list, he stands out, alone. RJ knows this guy, but he is not a disciple. Kirkland has been after him for a long time. Patrick himself has been under surveillance for 9 years. He killed Jason Lennon, so Patrick wouldn't know RJ's identity. This guy is on a vendetta. So he's the clever, semi-risky guess that Redjohn makes.

Birds in Season 3

Swans in episode 3, symbolise life.
It could go from 7 to 6 in the space of 10 seconds when Jane is talking to the mother’s bride, as RJ is simultaneously killing one of the other suspects. But it could just stand for Partridge’s death.

Pigeons symbolise death (Partridge’s death + you’ll see when McCallister dies)

RJ has a whole bunch of pigeons to show he is a deathmongerer + pigeons eat insects and termites. Once again, he likes the cold because insects do not like cold, as they are cold-blooded. His phobia (acaraphobia) is of insects that bite/termites etc.

I think Red John is Ray Haffner of Walter Mashburn because they both like Teresa Lisbon and this is why she was not killed in Episode 1

Episode 6x05, Fire and Brimstone, has been announced on CBS express:

http://www.cbspressexpress.com/cbs-entertainment/releases/view?id=37009

"Jane attempts to gather the remaining Red John suspects in one place". Brett Partridge and Bob Kirkland are not on the list of guest stars, so I guess it's true what many of you assumed already: Bob Kirkland will be ruled out as an RJ suspect in the next episode (6x04).
