I just awoke from a dream, in which Jane identifies Red John, and it's Sheriff McAllister. I've never been a strong McAllister advocate in the past, nor even an advocate of Red John actually being on the list. But apparently, my subconscious thinks it's McAllister. So there you go, for whatever that's worth. :)
If it's true that Red John has a three dot tattoo on his arm, this could give us a hint who he really is:

Obviously those dot tattoos are used by prisoners very often.
And speaking of Red John, so we left off with a list of seven suspects, Will any of the seven be showing up this season? Can you talk a little bit about what could be happening with that?
Certainly, all seven of those suspects will be part of this season and the CBI, Jane, and the CBI are doing their best to work out which one of them is Red John. I can tell you it won’t be a sort of Ten Little Indians type of of set up, it’s more of a Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy, which one of these guys is the guy.
Tinker Tailor soldier Spy, it is about finding a spy in ntelligenca agency from a list of 5 person, and at the end, the spy is one of the five persons.
So, as much as i wanted that Red John would be someone out of the list, and specifically : Walter M/ashburn, because he is the only person who would fit and not include a deception ( see theory 7201 : http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/7021#disqus_thread. )
Red John is one of the list, there will be some twist so that the true Red John will reveal his true identity and avoid a sloppy writing, but let us not forget, the season had been going for 6 years, and somehow i find that this season is independant and made it own way from the other ones, as someone said : Average writing for average people, producer are searching for money, and we know that too much mystery is always avoided by the audience.
Who ever thought that the Mentalist would be different from other commercial series were wrong, it is one pattern, and it is always about the money since everything is discussed between the producer and the writers.
AND IF SOMEONE CLOSE TO THE MENTALIST ENTOURAGE IS READING THIS, PLEASE TELL THE WRITERS : DARE TO GIVE THE MENTALIST THE END IT DESERVE, THE MAGISTRAL ONE. IF NOT, THE SHOW WOULD BE DEAD, AS DEAD AS CRAIG O LAUGHLIN !
To avoid and also encourage some conclusions, please, rewatch "The Red Barn" episode before watching "The Red Tattoo". Focus on what Haffner speaks, on Van Pelt and DiBuono, and the last scene as well.

The other suspects are all flawed and we are enjoying the process...but a true RJ payoff will be something weaves through seasons 1 thru 6. Not writing as we go!

Some few observations: Everybody thought about Ray Haffner after we discovered that RJ probably was a Visualize member, and Brett Stiles may have some more connections with him.
When PJ was in the mall with Bertram, why the RJ friend (which pretended to be him), was there and with a gun? To protect his boss?
I'm not suggesting anyone, just bringing something many people thought. Who is RJ was decided since the first episode?
Would be cheating if he didnt decide since the begining who Rj is. Because leaving connections enough to make a way to show any of the 7 as the real Rj, would be a fake puzzle. If he reads blogs, he would avoid the most popular suspects.
