Also the uniforms are very similar. 

Also he has a possible phobia, very stealthy, self possessed and pretty intelligent, he does meet Rosalind's physical description, his character is meant to be 45 years old so that could put him in the age range for the 1988 barn murders, RJ smells of pine according to Rosalind and McAllister is the Sheriff of Napa county a very rural area, there's the unexplained police car at the end of the S4 finale could be his, plus it would not seem out the norm for McAllister to be walking along those corridors where Rebecca gets killed, it would take a hefty explanation for some of the other suspects (especially stiles) in how they managed to get into the cbi in a police uniform without being recognised/stopped etc.
 
There's probably more that I haven't listed and some of the clues i have given may prove meaningless, but as small/simple as it may be, it's that walk.If it is McAllister, this isn't a clue for the show's characters, it's a clue given to us the audience.

I just think more of our RJ questions are answered and more are easily explained if McAllister is RJ.

What is the three tattoo meaning? People spend majority of life behind bars have it but it also means death to the cops in france. The three dots also stand for 3 people within a group, I'm thinking Brett stiles, Ray haffner and Micheal kirkland.

I think Red John could be a woman because:

John Doe = unidentified man
Jane Doe = unidentified woman

(Patrick) Jane = man
so...
(Red) John = could be a woman

I don't think that these characters were just randomly chosen.

I really dont know who is RJ,but i can predict the ending. :P
*WATCH THE PROMO OF S06E06*
We see that house where are suspects and jane will explode.So i think that all suspect will be dead and jane will somehow stay alive(idk how :P)and lisbon and jane will think that RJ is dead.But I think that in episode 06x08(episode Red John) RJ will kill someone important(mby Rigsby idk) to Jane and he will put a smile face on wall where that person is killed.Jane will come to that place and he will see RJ painting a smiley face on wall and RJ will be saying a Tyger tyger poem and then we will see who RJ is and we will be very suprised who RJ is (list is fake i am sure ;P).I think that this is the best ending possbile,but Heller knows better than me.

Ray Haffner isn't Red John because he could easily put bugging device by himself. He wouldn't need Kira Tinsley. So could Gale Bertram. (I had already eliminated Bertram when Reede Smith ordered him something but this is also another evidence that proves he is not RJ)

That leaves Bret Stiles, Sheriff McAliister, and Reede Smith...

Bret Stiles has been eliminated almost everybody due to his age. He is really too old to be Red John. He isn't Red John.

And I think Sheriff McAllister is also too old to be called "middle-aged". He isn't Red John.

As you all know Reede Smith is very tall and big man. If you look carefully, when Kira Tinsley opens the door she isn't looking at a person who is as tall as Reede Smith.

I think Red John is Brett Partridge. His appearing in Red John cases, his voice, other physical properties, character, relationship with Jane and even his death are strong evidences. And as an interesting clue, see what wikipedia says about partridge bird. It avoids high places... en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Partridge (discovery of this partridge bird information doesn't belong to me, I saw it from someone's theory earlier)

My theory,RJ could be either

1.) Robert Kirkland's twin brother (Or)
2.) Patrick Jane himself.

Regarding the latter, there is only one reason for me to believe is

I dont think there are many people as clever as PJ who has got such trmendous skills in reading peoples mind. Even if Red John could have been intelligent than Jane, the other accomplices/acquiaintance of his are definitely not that clever, which is just a piece of cake for Jane to know more about Red John from  all his acquaintances he has caught so far.

If Jane could not find someone, with all the skills he possess, it should be someone out of the planet (Multiple Personality Disorder).
I know most of yal would disagree with me, but just trying to rule a possibility

Now my best guess to be RJ is Bob Kirkland's twin.
Possible Reasons

1. He is assumed dead(not found the body yet).
2. He is an alcholic who has attended many Rehabs/cults (possibly visualize).
3. The time the twin went missing coinsides with that of Visualie's farm killing(believed to be the 1st murder by RJ).
4. A  funny one, but still - Kirklands twin should have same voice as his brothers which is the only voice that matches RJ's voice.
5. Bob Kirkland knew his brothers acquaintance with RJ.
     If he would have found on his own, he should have known a lot more about RJ.
     It is possible that Kirkland's twin after the first killing could have thought him to be       a different/new himself and named the new himself Red John. After that he could         have told  Bob Kirkland that he met a guy Red John who he is going to follow.
6. Bret Stiles has inside knowledge of RJ and when he hinted PJ about it, he was so arrogant that he thinks himself superior to RJ and PJ.
    The only reason he thinks he is superior is because he should have been the one       who possibly could have brain wasshed,encouraged and motivated RJ into                 committing his first murder.                                                                                                   Since Stiles helped Kirkland's twin finding the RJ in him, he could have                         possibly been greatful to Stiles and thought him as his mentor too.                                This could be the reason for Stiles' arrogance about his knowledge on RJ.

Please let me know, if the above reasons seem persuasible and also if
there is any reason not to believe Bob Kirkland's twin to be "RJ"

If you have seen the last episode, you should have noticed that, at the end, when the blond lady opens the door to red john, his shadow reflected to the yellow door shows that RED JOHN HAS HAIRS!!!!

So... i would count out Beltram and the sheriff Mc Allister.
