How do people know that RJ has the 3 dot tattoo? I know the PI said that he has a tattoo ion his left arm but I don't think she said anything about the three dots. Am I missing something?

Bret Stiles is not Red John but he is Patricks real father.
Patricks happy memory was discovered by Red John , because either Red John was ( 1.) actually there to witness the memory or (2) Patrick was hypnotized to reveal information about himself.
Red John is Patricks brother/ or sister. ( the bad sibling, hence Tyger Tyger, and symmetry references) I have not idea who that could be but I am sure this is about 'family'.
At a guess I would say his wicked, deranged little brother is Brett Partridge ( son of Bret Stiles, same first name).
not a theory so much as observation.
has it been pointed out yet that the smiley on Lisben is diffrent than RJ's has always been?
1.He has arachnophobia(he is afraid of spider) and RJ has acrophobia. Well, RH is phobiac just like RJ
2. Have you seen anyone calling Lisbon by first name Theresa, Only RJ and RH has done it.
3. He kills too much that he thought of benefiting from his own murders, hence started separate agency.
Patrick Jane brings five suspects in that room. Then his phone rings and "hello Patrick..." says Red John's voice. Wow what an excellent scene would it be huh?
I know Haffner was pushed as RJ during 6:05, and normally that would lead me to suspect someone else, but in this scenario, i'm actually going to go along with it. My reasoning is:
1. He's a perfect physical match for Red John
2. His walk is a perfect match to RJ
3. The way he grabs people's shoulders is a perfect likeness to the way RJ did to PJ at the end of Red Sky in the morning.
4. He has a genuine phobia
5. With PJ and the other 4 suspects, their relationships are more of a mutual distrust, PJ and Haffner flat out loathe each other.
I know some will wonder "If Haffner is RJ, why hire someone to bug the CBI office?" Simple. Distraction. You wouldn't want to draw attention to yourself if you were a notorious serial killer, so have someone else do it to draw attention away from yourself.
Okay all you Mentalist fans, I think I have this one figures out.
Here we go:
As we've all enjoyed the Mentalist over the years there appears to be one common theme in all the episodes. Patrick is always a step ahead of everyone, usually including the audience. No one ever seems to know what or who the killer is. But Jane always knows. Some how he always sets something up to reveal he killer.
In tonight's episode it seemed pretty obvious to me that the person who killed the woman who bugged the CBI team's office wasn't Red John. Red John kills slowly, he likes to show off, and he almost always uses his signature red blood smile. None of those things seemed to happen in tonight's murder at the end of the episode.
With that being said, don't you think it's pretty strange that Jane told Lisbon that he now knew Red John had a tattoo on his shoulder. Jane of all people knows that this caller was in no way Red John. For some reason Patrick is selling Lisbon on a story that makes no sense. To me it seems that Jane might already know who Red John is, and in fact is planning one long scene and letting it play out to see how certain people react in true Jane style.
I think it has to be someone in the CBI office. There's a reason Jane isn't giving Lisbon all the info. He's getting close. And he knows Red John is closer to him then anyone knows. My guess is Wayne Rigsby. My guess is Jane knows that it is Wayne Rigsby. And my guess is everything in this season is one giant master plan Jane has divulged to once and for all catch Red John and prove to everyone he's the best at what he does in TRUE Mentalist fashion.
