LATEST THEORIES

In 1x02 episode, sheriff looks pretty interested in Patrick's appearance, immediately starts asking questions about him- somehow, being suprised. He is like: ''You?! What the hell are you doing here?''. If Tom is really Red John, that's the kind of reaction you would expect from him- he remembers Patrick only as someone who mocked him through public television, false psych from whom he took his family away, as a punishment. And now, suddenly, he is here again, helping CBI! The game of rock-paper-scissors finally triggered rivalry between the two of them.

Hi all,
I started watch The Mentalist one month ago (today is 11.03.2013) and I am at season 5 episode 8.

Red John had appeared on 2nd season episode 8 (His Red Right Hand) to us. Since that episode I was trying to find RJ's reappeared scenes. But I failed yet.

On S2E8, it is very clear that Rebecca loves and admires Red John. Before she died, she smiled the person who put poison on her hand. She smiled, when she saw that man, like someone may had when saw her/his love or who saw the person her/his admires. Not anyone else she/he knows.

So, it is not a very clear clue but this is the trick when the "mentalism" take role. A "mentalist" can understands meaning of that smile. Of course not all of the viewers are a mentalist so Rebecca help us to reveal this with very distinct and bright smile.

The man who put poison on her hand, wore a blue high collar tshirt under his uniform. It is clearly appeared on that scene for just in a second. Please play that scene frame by frame, It is impossible to miss.

Now lets return to the press release of Minelli about Sam Bosco and his team. The camera reaches press release from Minelli's back. On that scene there is a brown van stands on right behind Minelli.
And there is two cops in uniform with hats each side of Minelli and a swat guy stands behind him.

Right after that scene, when we see Minelli in front of him, there is a policeman appeared on his right shoulder, who wears blue high collar tshirt under his uniform.

Take a look again. Where did brown van go? Apparently there are police motorcycles with RJ and his coleague, but when camera angle changed to behind of Minelli van re-appears.

It is a shooting mistake or not. Clearly the scene that we can see Minelli's face designed to show us that blue high collar policeman.

Here ladies and gentlemen we already met with RJ.

He is a policeman who works at CBI. Of course he is humble, takes his places lower level of organisation, not on the surface. Well played RJ.

To RJ:
I dont know who you are yet but I have your portrayal. If PJ had this info, you already doomed man. Here a smiley for you :)

I'm a strong believer that Brett Partridge is RJ, but I have been rewatching episodes and something about Kirkland has me confused. I thought that maybe some of you Kirkland fans could help me out.

In the episode where Kirkland kills the guy that was in the coma, he asks the guy if he had ever seen him before. Knowing that he has a twin, that question makes sense, but knowing that he was also looking for RJ why was that the only question he asked? Was that Bob or Michael? It makes no sense why he wouldn't ask him who RJ was or what he looks like.

All theories welcome. Thanks.

Either Ray is a great actor or when he confronts Lisbon about her thinking he is RJ, he actually looks hurt by it or its my imagination. Also cannot wait for the next ep http://www.cbs.com/shows/the_mentalist/video/6QKcl_lbrFvdgG5qS92rlN28_qUL7Art/the-mentalist-behind-t....

I actually believe Bob Kirkland's brother Michael Kirkland is Red John. I think Michael Kirkland actually found Bret Stiles when Bob Kirkland spoke to Jane about him meeting Red John. Bret Stiles either knowingly or unknowingly created Red John by taking him under his wing and trying to enforce the cult rules upon him. What happened at the barn all those years ago could have been Michael Kirkland unwilling to feel controlled anymore and thus acting out. The smiley face could be him finally finding happiness in his new found power. We know Bret Stiles has a connection to Red John already from his previous statements throughout the past episodes.

Red John always has a lot of intel about Patrick Jane, RJ working at the CBI, always in the background, may make some sense. Following the logic of RJ working at CBI HQ, all members of the team (Lisbon, Rigsby, Van Pelt and Cho) are ruled out from being RJ since it would make sense for RJ to come work at the CBI (to keep tabs on PJ) after PJ was hired (why would he already be at the CBI when PJ is hired ? It would probably be difficult to explain to the viewers).
However, if Ron is RJ, I cannot understand why he tried to bug the CBI. Was it to mislead PJ ? Or did somebody else tried to bug the CBI ? Probably the tyger tyger organisation ? In order to know more about PJ investigation ?
Tyger Tyger is probably a large organisation of people with a lot of means. They are (for a reason unknown for now) also trying to find who red john is. They probably also want him dead and a lot of the people on PJ list are probably member of Tyger Tyger. This would explain why they all have so much interest in PJ's investigation to find RJ.
Not much of a foolproof theory but more of a bunch of hunches. Please let me know your views about it.

There's kind of a problem. Look at this...

Bob Kirkland: Dead
Brett Partridge: Dead
Reede Smith: Too fat/tall
Bertram: Too tall/bald
Bret Stiles: Too old/ would have been recognised on the farm
Ray Haffner: Too tall
Sheriff McAllister: Has a moustache Rosalynd never mentioned and the gruffest voice.

People not on the list: Why would we waste a whole season to make a list that didn't contain Red John? Walter Mashburn the best off-lister is a giant. He's 6"3.

Michael Kirkland:

-Technically his face is on the list. I never got why Patrick carried pictures of people on the list.

-Experienced hypnotist

Michael Kirkland was in the carnival (Bob says to Lisbon "We moved around first for Mom's work, then for Dad's work. I like to think we grew up in America).  Bob thought Patrick was Redjohn, the person that Michael at some point met. Patrick was in the carnival. So it makes sense Bob and Michael were also in the carnival.

- Michael Kirkland kills Jason Lennon

"It's ooook, I'm heere for you. I WON'T leeaaave you."- He's doing a sarcastic impression of his brother, Bob, who actually left Michael with his abusive father.

"Your mind is clear."- Hypnotism from the carnival.

- Michael Kirkland has a strange voice, as quoted by the little girl in season 4

- The Red Sweater Man in Strawberries and Cream: Part 2 may have been a stand in for Michael Kirkland until he was cast permanently. Bruno Heller says we see a glimpse of the real Red John that episode.

- Could hypnotise Kristina Frye to think she was dead

- Has a property (Bob's torture chamber) which could have given him the smell of pine and earth as said by Rosalynd Harker

- Michael Kirkland met Bret Stiles possibly, who helped him with his addiction

- Relates to Lisbon as their fathers were both alcoholic

- Knows Sean Barlow, since he was around the carnival circuit, who also says
It's
odd, isn't it? How the daughters of alcoholics,
so often, are the best kind of women.”

I run out of useful information here. Not much in season 6 suggests this
guy is Red John.
