Guys check this guy's theory: Theory #8575
This guy casts light on some interesting points from the season 2 episode 8: His right red hand. Red John is one of the policemen escorting Rebecca to the CBI HQ.

Take a look at these pictures (Thanks for the guy who posted them):

You all remember the guy who poisoned Rebecca right?
Here's a clear shot of his back:
http://images.wikia.com/thementalist/images/a/ac/Red_John_Disguised_02.jpg
http://images.wikia.com/thementalist/images/a/a9/2x08.png

This mysterious man wears the same uniform as the policemen escorting Rebecca with the blue collar and sheriff-like costume. Why am I saying this guy must be Red John? It's because when he was walking towards Rebecca, she started smiling like when she was talking about Red John and how he brought joy to her life.

Now think for a second, of all the 5 remaining suspects who could possibly disguise himself like that and hustle around the CBI corridors without anyone paying attention to him? Can't be Gale Bertram, Haffner, or Stiles. Bertram is a politician figure, his face is all around the media. Same for Stiles.."Speeches, I give a lot of speeches". Haffner is known inside the CBI, he was a special agent there before he left to create his own firm.

So two suspects are left: McAllister and Smith.
It can't be Smith because I'm quite sure many of us agree with that.

McAllister, not only his uniform resembles that of the policemen escorting Rebecca but he can easily infiltrate CBI'S HQ and do whatever the heck he wants.

I think my message is clear, if you need any further explanations I'll be glad to respond in the comments section.

J'accuse Grace Van Pelt or Wayne Rigsby to be in a few episodes red targets.
Their marriage became a Happy Memory for Patrick, nobody knows that.

In
my previous theory, I looked at pertinent points surrounding the mystery:

http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/6218
I
intend to do a similar thing here.
I
urge that this is judged on the merit of the points, as opposed to my chosen
suspect – I feel too many theories on this website are disregarded based solely
on who they accuse, regardless of the content offered.
Although
I can’t conclusively accuse anyone, my gut instinct says McAllister, and I’ve
noticed a number of theories stating that ‘Bertram/Haffner/Stiles’ and ‘the
sheriff’ are the only plausible suspects – clearly a number of people think he’s
a dodgy guy.

If
we are being McAllister-specific, I would suggest – though it hasn’t been
touted before – that perhaps ‘rock-paper-scissors’ could be construed as a form
of fearful symmetry, but that is tenuous at best.

The Red Tattoo
– we must consider when the PI actually saw the tattoo – an answer, though not
a realistic one, is that it was visible when the murder was committed, although
I find it unlikely. More plausible is that it was visible when she met the
person who hired her, although I bodes the question of why she would’ve been
able to see it? If – and I haven’t stated conclusively – it was Red John, it
seems such an oversight that it must’ve been intentional, suggesting he wants
Jane to have the clue. A genuine oversight seems a bit of a poor solution. If
it was not Red John, it suggests the client clearly was not that worried.

Another
question is where they met, as the only plausible way for it to have been
visible is if he were in a vest, or his top was off. The vest option suggests a
gym to me. Top off could imply many more places, though if it were Red John,
maybe suggest some intimacy between the two.

Bugging the CBI
– again, we ask why. If it were Visualise, it suggests they have some need to
know what is going on. This suggests a high-ranking member – Stiles or Cooper,
or possibly Haffner. If it were Haffner, people ask why he did not do it
himself as he is an expert in surveillance – a solution is maybe he did, and
the other bug served as a red herring.

If
it were Red John, we ask why as he has been able to hack CBI fairly regularly –
a plausible answer is to suggest that he is someone with no access to CBI, thus
suggesting the guilty party is in the building – Bertram, if the list is
credible. Another solution is to lead Jane to the murder of the PI, which would
suggest the tattoo clue is intentional.

If
it were someone else, it suggests that the bug was what it was – the only way
someone outside of CBI could gain information readily. This, to my mind, covers
the rest of the list.

Lisbon’s arm
– although I have no clever theory to go with it, the fact remains she hurt her
arm doing a mystery thing, and I’m curious as to what. There must be some
relevance, or why bother with it?

Leaking the list
– why tell Lisbon about the list if Jane didn’t want the team to know? Some
possible solutions – it is part of his intricate plot to catch Red John. Red
John has Jane watched, or bugged – it is the action Red John would expect Jane
to do. Red John is one of the team, and the list is a massive red herring.

Phobias
– the theories suggest that Red John has a fear similar sounding to
‘acrophobia’, and that heights, insects and pigeons are all valid solutions. I
say that Sophie Miller said the person – who may or may not have been Red John
– may have had a real phobia – this isn’t conclusive enough evidence.

Michael Kirkland
– I’ve seen theories that suggest Michael Kirkland has been active as his
brother, so he met Jane whilst pretending to be Bob. I find that really
unfeasible – the idea that one twin led a double life in such a high-profile
role without the other knowing seems to be ludicrous. All Bob would need is a
conversation he hadn’t taken part in, a meeting he didn’t know, etc.

The mall, and Timothy Carter
– this bothered me for ages after I watched ‘Strawberries and Cream’ but I put
it to one side. The assassin’s plan to climb down for the room above implies
knowledge that the room above would be unoccupied – how could the assassin
guarantee this? I suspected Bertram for ages above this – also, how could
Timothy Carter have known to be at the mall where Bertram and Jane would be? A
suggestion is Jane was followed, as I don’t believe we see Carter or Jane
arrive, although Red John had a security guard – Ron Deutsch – in his power
too, so clearly some plan was in motion here that needed inside info in order
to succeed and, indeed, occur.

(Robin Tunney interview – I don’t like to consider the real world,
as I feel it defeats the deductive element of the show, but I will note this.
Robin Tunney said she was surprised when she found out who Red John was. This
implies – a) it was not someone on the list, which is possible, b) that it was
someone on the list whom she didn’t consider plausible, or c) she had her own
suspect, and it was someone else, hence she was surprised. At the moment, this
fact tells us nothing and it would be unwise to draw conclusions from it.)

Theory #8602 • By Fodi K
Show this theory

So here's my thought, Virgil Minelli is Red John. The way in which he left the CBI after the bosco killing left too many open and unanswered questions, then he turns up again to help PJ........ His age fits that of a former high ranking Visualize member and his high status within the CBI gave him opportunity to manipulate proceedings there. Through Tyger Tyger he does many of his killing now. Question is....WHY????? Why are all these people helping him. Is it through hypnosis that he is able to influence others? That I am intrigued (and excited) to find out.

Regarding Rigsby and Van Pelt leaving the series. If you recall, Van Pelt has sympathy and a fascination with Visualize so my guess is she gets caught up with them, or possibly is already a member and that implicates her in some way. I don't like the Rigsby is RJ theory, if RJ wanted the CBI bugged he would have plent of opportunity to do it. What is plausible to me is the possibility that he is one of the ones to be hypnotised in some way and is manipulated to kill that way. It could well be that the tattoo implication relates to him and he was the killer. What if the tattoo is fake and a rigsby is killed by Van Pelt because she knew of the tattoo only for us all to find out the tattoo wasn't real. How heartbreaking would that be!?!!?!???!

There's my penny's worth. It would be good to hear your thoughts before tonight's show!

rj is not on the list, why are u people so
naïve.
Why should bruno heller ruin the supposedly exciting big finale by
eliminating all potential twists and surprises, right from the beginning. just
because some reporter asked him to, in the course of an interview, at the
beginning of a new season - seriously?
besides, someone who got killed/ is dead
remains dead, no coming back, the walking dead is on another tv channel, I
guess.

So what
about all this ongoing childish Kirkland Partridge theories - get over it, game
over. That s not a dallas
finale, where bobby is going to have a wet shower dream sequence moment. aah
wait, u guys go for the twin option.

..rj IS wayne rigsby. There have also
been subtle little hints all along, right from the beginning, for instance:

someone
mentioned the promo posters. He/she was right, there s a reason why rigsby is
always separated from the others.

Season 1 episode 1 aka pilot:
Look at the
way he responded to the news that patrick jane joined the cbi team. His facial
expressions, comments are so obvious. When jane made fun out of rigsbys
attraction to the latest team member addition - grace van pelt - during their
shared dinner - they were all very amused by that, except for 1 person that is.
How
did rigsby respond to that, he was pissed of because jane had ruined a
potential opportunity for him to pick up grace and that’s why patrick jane
got a red john message delivered the very same night into his hotel room (piece
of paper, slided down under his door). Look who is laughing now.

The guy who
ran down the hotel aisle looks exactly like rigsbys stature from behind. Why
was pj not able to catch him, why did rj vanish into thin air. Because rigsby
simply went back to his hotel room, right in time.

Season 2
episode 8:
finale cut, all team members enjoy a little shot of tequila to
honour bosco, but when it comes to rigsby the bottle is empty and he has to go
and catch a bottle of something else. That s not a coincidence, that s just
another playful way of pointing out – in a subtle way that is –he doesn’t
really belong to the others (also see, promo posters).

Plus all
the other reasons people have already pointed out (social background, child
hood, fancies red haired women, is going to leave the show, rj hast to be someone
within the cbi team, and so on). I think the only reason he got married to van
pelt in the first place was to distract people and to make them believe he and
van pelt leave the show this season to enjoy their fictional happy peppy honey moon,  whatsoever - tzzzzzz.

Simone
Baker even once stated on you tube that Red John is the Keyser Söze of
the show. Have u seen the movie - the usual suspects.

wayne rigsby is red john.

Otherwise
it could only be pj himself ;)

peace.

Some curious facts about Bob Kirkland:

- Why was he drinking Jane's wife and daughter's favorite drink ?
- Since he was seeking RJ, why did he not ask Lennon about RJ's identity instead of killing him?
- What did he mean by 'just do it here' (what he told R.Smith before he got shot in the back)

- Most important, the fact that he told Jane that he never found his twin bro's dead body and never heard of him again, I think Michael Kirkland has definitely something to do with RJ. Kirkland asking around 'Do you recognize me, have you ever seen me before?' has something to do with his twin bro and all these details and questions remain unanswered.

Though I hope RJ isn't Sheriff or Smith, because com'on guys those men just popped up from nowhere! Bertram looks pretty shady so I believe either he's involved with RJ or the Tyger Tyger's somehow or both, either he's just doing his job searching for a dangerous serial killer.

Now Stiles: he's definitely involved with RJ, either he knows him (I am quite sure he does) cause he was working in that farm of Visualize's, and Bret has proven to be aware of RJ's plans several times.
Ray Haffner has the look, is a member of Visualize, which is why lots of fans' money is on him, though I think he is either not clever enough to be RJ or acts like it. I know he likes Teresa, he's good at whistling and blah blah blah but I'd be disappointed if he was RJ as far as I'm concerned.

So let's sum it up: Smith and Sheriff aren't definitely Red John (too many would be disappointed) but might work for him. Bertram too and I think that'd be great news for the fans (I mean I would find it amazing, like 'omg and Bertram was one of RJ's accomplices all that time'). Stiles does know him and maybe even protects him. It is not Haffner, moreover he appeared too late in the series.

Kirkland appeared too late in the series too but he fits the role more than anyone does. I know he's dead but there might be some trick involving his twin brother, let's keep an eye on them.
Finally there's Partridge: many's favorite. He was in the very first episode, on the first crime scene which guess what, was RJ's copycat. He's dead too but let's not forget this show is all about tricks and the culprit is always on screen since the beginning, they never pop up of nowhere.

So my money's on Kirkland or Partridge.

Though I must admit CBI Ron fits the role too, I mean he's been in the background since the beginning, I think we should also keep an eye on him as he might get more important over the next few episodes.

Thanks for reading, leave comments if you think I'm wrong or right :)

There are 3 episodes left before RJ identity is revealed and the preview for next episode hints that Jane is going to gather the suspects and under gun point make RJ reveal the tattoo. But that would be far too easy and the identity of RJ is not revealed until 8th episode.

That means RJ is not one of the 5 suspects.

The only real suspect left is Bob Kirkland's brother.
