it is basically clear that red John is Bret Stiles. and his acomplicce is Brett  Partdrigde. is it a coincidence that they both have the same name?

in episode 8 season 5, lorelei confirms to patrick that he has already met Red John, and that it is a wonder how they didnt become friends when they FIRST SHOOK HANDS. so patrick has met him. as to partdrigde, he is clearly someone important, like some sort of mole that stiles might have in the CBI. We already know Red John is powerful, so thats another insight for stiles, that claims tohave friends around the state. how did Bret Stiles managed to get Lorelei Martins out of prision. ¿ has he already met her? how come it becomes a homeland security matter? this are all questions that will lead us to red John.

Red john cannot be a woman like many say. Jared renfrew's message "he is ma" shows that red john is a man as Red John is described as a he.Red john doesn't  believe in god and  he isn't religious. We know this as in season four's finale he tells  jane that " hell does not exist and I won't be punished when I die.  Most people who don't beleive in god often turn to science making Brett Patridge a strong suspect. Brett patridge has only  been seen in episodes where there were copycats of  red john. This is because if he is red johnhe is their to kill them as.He also fits the description given by Rosalind. In season 5 episode 9 we get a glimpse of patrick's note book with the main suspect for red john and brett is at the top. Another suspect for red john is Gale Betrum. This is becassue the assassin sent  by red joohn to kill hightower enters the jote room which only gale knows. We later find out that the assassin carried a rope which she would use to go to the room below whic only O'laughlin knew. Gale and O'laughlin probably discussed about hightower and  realised that they were given two different rooms And the reason the assassin went f to both  Gale's and O'laughlin's room is  because , Gale is red john and O'laughlin works for him or they both work for red john, see in which room hightower was in. Even though Gale doens't fit the description given by Rosalind I don't think it matters as many of the people patrick suspect, we see in his notebook, dont fit the description either like Dean harker who doesnt have short straight hair.

Hello,

I am new to all this! I have been reading a lot of the theories on here - all rather interesting. Some I believe are plausible, or have at least made me rethink.

I truly believe that Red John could, potentially, be anyone. I believe the writing of the series has allowed for this to happen - that any suspect chosen would have some form of evidence against them. Whether that's "real" evidence or "Jane evidence".

I do not think it is Jane himself. If this were to happen, I would stop watching. It would literally ruin the show. Jane, undoubtedly shares similar traits to Sherlock Holmes, and Red John is his Professor Moriarty. To have them as one in the same, would be have Luke Skywalker turn around and say "Actaully, I'm Vader" or Harry Potter turn out to be Voldemort. It's obnoxious, knock it off!

I also do not believe Red John to be Lisbon. This would go against the Lisbon-Jane thing. He trusts her, she trusts him. It's another fundamental element of the show that harks back to Sherlock Holmes. Lisbon is essentially Doctor Watson.

Thanks for reading this, I do not even pretend to know who Red John is. But would appreciate feed back on what I have posted.

Robert Kirkland is the alleged serial killer Red John. On season 5, episode 5, a woman named Alexa Schultz calls the director at the time (Virgil Minelli) and requests that he gives updates on the RJ case. She told Minelli she works for the FBI an that her boss would appreciate what's going on in the case. Minelli agrees, and has no idea that RJ was in the same car as Alexa. They revealed Robert Kirkland as Red John and the scene ends. (He also works in the FBI.)

It might be Patrick's father Alex.
He hasn't been on the screen that much, but he had some appearances.
Red John is good at manipulating people. Alex Jane used to be a psychic, together with Jane. And 'Tiger, tiger' might have been a poem he used to tell Patrick when he was young.
I can't think of a motive for being Red John, but he might have been angry with Patrick for something that has happened.

I was thinking that perhaps Red John is no one that we suspect. That in reality he didn't really kill anyone. That he uses or manipulates people into killing for him. This leaves a huge door open when he is caught, because they can't actually pin any of the murders on him. Then also, I was thinking that in the end of the season it would probably be very interesting if Red John kidnapped Agent Lisbon.

My view is that RJ serial killer does not exist.I think PJ's wife took her own life after first killing the child. This would explain what Kristina Frye told PJ about his daughter not suffering. Her mother would have taken care not to hurt her. The note that PJ found on the door was a suicide note. The deaths caused him to have a breakdown and he created the Red John persona in his mind to take the blame for what happened as his wife was obviously ill and he didn't see it. He is now trying to find redemption by using his talents to help the police. Every time we see a smiley face (resembles P.J.'s face), it corresponds not to an RJ murder but to a death for which PJ somehow feels indirectly (if not directly) responsible/guilty. Eg. Jared Renfrew could have been murdered by anybody but would still be alive if PJ had not had him released from jail. Rosalind Harker is not dead but the smiley face represents PJ's guilt as he treated women the way Rosalind was treated. He didn't manage to use his skills to read Rebecca who obviously worked in the building with them and prevent Bosco's murder, so feels guilty. Same thing for murders committed before his family's death. PJ. feels in some way responsible. PJ. killed Panzer to stop him killing again and prefers to deal with it in his head by blaming RJ. Now his dark side/RJ persona is starting to take over his life. The more things go wrong, the more he blames RJ. The Tiger Tiger poem represents the struggle between his light and dark sides. Which side will win out in the end? This theory does not obviously explain everything but would explain certain holes in the procedure as certain things are happening in PJ's head and not in reality.
