I  believe that Red John is two people working together in  classical serial killer style. Ellis Mars and Brett Partridge. Mars is the only link to Blakes poetry and pinged Jane's spidey sense in the dream sequence after he got Mars second card. Partridge is Mars protege...perfectly placed to clean up any stray clues if given the chance.

I would bet on a character who has not been seen yet in the movie. I remember very well the appearance of Bradley Whitford in Strawberries and Cream: Part 2 (S3, Ep24), when he claimed to be Red John. Timothy Carter was so calm, enigmatic, with such a creepy charm as Anthony Hopkins after brain surgery Ray Liotta. I never liked Bradley Whitford, nor his films or roles, but at that moment I thought: "boy, this is one real Red John". Honestly I'd be happy if Red John looked, talked and reacted that way. For a brief moment I felt that this character perfectly fits the villain Red John. Ultimately, an actor who appeared in the film for the very first time, successfully recreated the character of the man, ruined the life of Patrick Jane and I felt it plausible.

The implantation of Red John in an existing character would lead to much confusion in already past events and cause questions that can not be answered. Eventually I would be quite disappointed if the ever smiling, sweet and charming Patrick Jane suffers from a twisted disease, turning him into the supreme evil.

CAT!

Red John has a cat.

In one episode, possibly in S2, or maybe in S3, RJ calls Patrick Jane. During the small chat, a very obvious "Miaoow" sound comes.

A very important call, and we hear sound of a cat. It is impossible to be coincidence, it is included on purpose.

Who had noticed it? Can you make any connections? Who has cats in series? ( It was not the very fat guy, animal supporter, who was falsely arrested for killing people doing anti-animal rights lab tests, I had checked it, but you can double confirm if you have time)

I believe that Van Pelt is definatley connected to red john. There is a picture on the website screenshot.com/the mentalist season 5, which shows all the main 5 characters on it. Jane is sat on a couch flanked by cho and lisbon which shows they are his closest allies. rigsby and van pelt are stood up. rigsby is facing the 3 on the couch where as van pelt has her back to them looking at them in a mirror. I think this is a message from the writers to say that van pelt is not all she makes out to be.
I agree with many theories that van pelt has lost a family member due to Janes con artist scams and therefore is working with red john to destroy and hurt Jane.
I think she used O'loughlin and then was given orders to kill him by red john. O'loughlin was sent to the safe house by red john to be killed by van pelt.

Red John said "Roll Tide". At episode 23 of Season 2, when RJ "rescued jane" from fake RJs, RJ said "Roll Tide" to Jane, of which should have only been known to Jane and Frye for which the word "Roll Tide" appeared during their first date.

Also, Frye's disappearance, and than the appearance of RJ in Episode 23 was too much of a coincidence. Frye disappeared in order to resume her identity of RJ to kill the fake RJs.

Furthermore, Frye was someone whom Jane couldn't play mind games with. He could never make her give up her act, much like how he could never make Red John give up her act.

Additionally was the fact she went to TV to talk about RJ with confidence as if she knows nothing was going to happen (because she's red john)

Lastly, the Gender of RJ has not be verified yet. In episode 11 od season 1, the words "HE IS MAN" (of which CBI thought was written by the victim)could well have been written by RJ to mislead people about his gender, making them think that RJ is a he but could instead be a She.

This is, once again, not a theory (my last one was about the 'He is ma' message found in a leaked script). It's about a couple things I found interesting in 'The Crimson Hat' (season 4 finale).

One word that Red John says when he meets Patrick has always kept me curious.

- Hello, Patrick.
- How you doing?
- Debonair at all costs, huh?
- When did you know?
- Oh, you strung me along for a good long while. Well done.

Debonair – adjective
1. courteous, gracious, and having a sophisticated charm: a debonair gentleman.
2. jaunty; carefree; sprightly.

If you go back and watch the final scene on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=pDqVYNtTso4#t=130s - use that link to go to the exact moment I'm talking about) and you'll see the street where the limo is being chased is called Rainer Av, which is intersected by Debonair Way. Coincidence? Heller told us to watch every scene of The Crimson Hat carefully.

So... what the heck does it mean? My best guess is that Red John was actually in Debonair Way while Wainright was in the back of the limo, tied up.

Alright... so what? When Lisbon meets Jane, we see an LVPD police car with one somewhat old man driving it (to me, the man looked a lot like Bertram). But what the heck was an LVPD car doing there? Only the FBI knew about Lisbon, Rigsby, Cho and Van Pelt being there.

However, it could also mean that Lorelei was arrested and taken in that police car and that the FBI let the local authorities know about the missing CBI members, although that seems unlikely to me.

Back to Debonair now. When Lorelei calls Patrick, she says RJ wants to meet him in 2369 Foxglove Parkway, south east Las Vegas. There, Patrick finds a bike that says he had to go to 5071 Keston Avenue. Now, did you know that there is actually no Foxglove Parkway, and that Kenston Avenue, together with Rainer Av and Debonair Way are all in Palmway, California?

Have a look at this image: http://i.imgur.com/3UMVX.png (this, by the way, is the exact same thing Van Pelt sees in her computer in a previous scene, where they study the place). I highlighted the places where the limo enters and the place where Lorelei gets caught.

Now, Foxglove Parkway doesn't exist, and the place where Jane meets RJ is definitely in California. Could this be a sloppy writing? We all know Heller is one smart and meticulous guy, so I doubt it. It seems strange to me that Lorelei had to mention the place being in Vegas, when the team was back in California.

Finally, leaving locations aside, when Darcy is in the morgue checking "Rigsby's" dead body, she's on the phone with some guy named Bill.

Bill, I need you to find out A.S.A.P. where Kimball Cho and Grace Van Pelt are located.
[...]
This isn’t Wayne Rigsby.
Yeah. Find out where they are.
Thanks. And, Bill?
I want arrest warrants prepped for every single member of that CBI team, dead or alive.

Who the heck is this 'Bill'? I believe it could be someone in the FBI. Could it be Red John's 'good friend' in the FBI? Or just some random agent? I find it intriguing that they'd make Darcy mention that name if we have never heard of him (not even now in season 5).

Please leave a comment if you have any theories or info in these 2 things ('debonair' and 'Bill') or if you found anything else out of place in The Crimson Hat.

Thanks for reading!
