LATEST THEORIES

I think it's pretty obvious Heller is lying about many things. He said Red John is someone, who has been there from the start. On the list of 7, only Partridge and McAlister have been there from season 1.

So, Partridge is dead, Sheriff has to be RJ, or is he?

Bertram was introduced in the third season and that is not "from the start" in my opinion. Smith came into the series 2 years later in season 5. Then there's Kirkland, who has been introduced to us last season. Stiles has been there since season 2, if I remember correctly? Haffner also became a part of the show in season 4.

The list itself doesn't make much sense then. And I honestly don't believe it. I still think, RJ will be one of them, but Heller wants us to think that the list is fake.

My favourite from the start has been Sheriff, because he has been there from the start, smells things around him extremly good, is a great shooter and walks like a hunter, quietly. Also, his job wouldn't limit him doing all the killings.

But I'm not sure anymore. When he revealed the three dots tattoo, Patrick aimed the gun at him and he said "It's not what it looks like, I'm not Red John." I don't know if I think of RJ too highly, but RJ wouldn't said that. He wouldn't lie to Patrick's face.

Bertram looks like a good option right now. He didn't say a single word when he revealed the tattoo. He always carefuly chooses his words when he talks, we could say manipulatly.

Some things we already know also point to him. Heller said at the end of season 3, we would see Red John in the season finale. Bertram was there with Patrick, but left before the whole PJ - Carter dialogue began. Everyone thought Heller had Carter in mind, when talking about you're going to see Red John. What if he meant we're going to see Red John because Bertram was there?

Bertram also said in the first episode of season 6 to Lisbon and Patrick: "I am many things to many people." I think this sentence has a deeper meaning and we shruged it off to quickly.

Also, the first impression is the most important one. Patrick didn't feel good when he met Bertram. That is something to point out.

It could honestly be anyone, except Smith (IMO he joined the show too late) and let's hope we get an explanation about everything we want to know. Because there are a lot of things I am curious about!

Theory #9462 • By Mancini
Show this theory

No it's not Reede Smith because Red John is possibly his partner Gabe Mancini
The clues are
HE IS MAN=He is Mancini
666=He is called Gabe Mancini for a reason just like Red John and Carmen Lee it links to the 666. Bruno Heller wrote him in so he knows his name links to 666 so why have that name which not many people notice and not have him appear so far.
Bertram also=666 but he is at the top of most peoples list and when you look at the 666 theory not many people will notice Gabe Mancini just Gale Bertram. So why would Robin Tunney be shocked that its Bertram but she would be shocked if it was the guy she did one or two scenes with in season 5.
He fits all the descriptions and he is the right age.
If he is RJ it explains why Red John never killed Lisbon.
After reading all the theories about 666 it just has to be someone who links to it.

When Bruno Heller revealed to the actor who IS a suspect, that he was actually Red John, this was his reaction.

The actor was "stunned and flattered."

"Earning this little place in pop-culture history was the last thing I ever expected...Truth be told, I thought I thought I was a red herring."

In the daylight, in a picturesque park, miles outside of Los Angeles, Patrick Jane chases down and slays Red John. There is noone else around, he is not accompanied by CBI. The moment of death itself, with Jane straddling Red John and looking into the eyes of his prey, is one of shocking intimacy.

How is Red John caught? Simon Baker: "He desperately wants a relationship with Jane to the point where he exposes himself and puts his life in jeopardy."

Red John was the leader of the Tiger Tiger conspiracy.

Also, the "he is mar" is written straight. If the victim really wrote it, it would be at an angle because that's where the arm would reach. But then, this is tv and not a real homocide. (Thank Goddess)

Remaining Mentalist Questions/Mysteries

This is not a theory but an attempt to identify all the remaining mysteries which should be cleared up by the writers during the next two episodes or so (or I want my money back...). Please feel free to add explanations and/or remaining questions in the 'comments'.

1. What "He is man(r)..." written in blood was intended to mean

If you were dying, would you waste time writing "He is" before writing down the name of the killer? I think not. Therefore it makes more sense the third word is something like "many" or "married". Even "He is married" could have been shortened to just "married", so "many" might be the best bet, because it requires "He is" to make sense.

2. Why does Rosalind Harker's descriptions contradict some suspects on the list?

According to Harker's specs, Stiles is too old, Reede is too fat, and Bertram is too tall. The reason that Jane nevertheless included them in his list of suspects could be that:

- He does not trust her descriptions, because she is deeply in love with RJ.
- RJ is not one person, but 'many'.

3. Why does Bob Kirkland kill Jason Lennon without trying to find RJ's identity?

Bob is seriously searching for RJ's identity, yet he doesn't avail himself of the opportunity to question Lennon about this. Some people have said that's because he knew it would be a waste of time. Which sounds pretty thin to me. Lorelei told Patrick that Lennon was weak and would easily give up the name. So, Bob just decided THIS guy would refuse to yield the name, but the others on the fake list would yield to torture?

Another theory presented is that Bob wasn't Bob in this scene, but Michael. However, Kirkland asked Lennon if he recognized him. I believe this question could only make sense if it was Bob Kirkland that asked it and not Michael.

4. How did Lorelei know that Red John shook hands with Patrick Jane?

Did she see it herself? Did Red John tell her? Why would he tell her that? "Hey Lorelei, I shook hands with Patrick Jane, Ha Ha!" - hmm, maybe.

5. How did Patrick Jane whittle his list of handshakes down to 7 suspects?

Never explained, but hopefully it will be.

6. How did Red John know Patrick Jane's list?

Major mystery still.

7. How does Red John's create his distinctive voice?

Is his 'normal' voice fake - or vice-versa? Does he use a voice-altering microphone? Closest to that voice is probably Partridge. I don't believe Partridge is still alive however.

8. Why is Red John like Waldo?

One of the writers, maybe even Heller himself, apparently said that Red John is like Waldo. Waldo is always there in the background somewhere, like CBI agent Ron. However I am reasonably convinced RJ is one of the suspects on the list. So which of those guys has been like Waldo all along? Not one of them, really, according to me. So I hope the writers will please explain this one satisfactorily.

9. Was Red John visible in the series pilot episode?

One of the writers (Heller?) said something like "Red John was always there from the beginning".

- What is the precise words used the writer used?
- Does this mean Red John the character is already visible in one of the the first episodes?

10. Why did Red John kill Partridge in 06x01: "The Desert Rose"?

Heller said that there was a very good reason why Partridge was killed at this exact point, and this reason would become clear later on.

11. What is the big clue in the final minutes of 06x01: "The Desert Rose"?

Heller said that there is a clue in the last minutes which would be clear in later episodes. Was it because the smiley on Lisbon's face (the eyes) was drawn differently than RJ's normal smilies? Was it all the pigeons in the house, which might have scared Red John away before he killed Lisbon?

12. Who is "Carmen Lee"?

In 06x02: "Black-Winged Redbird" Jane is with Lisbon in her hospital room and a nurse comes in and asks if anybody knows where Mrs Carmen Lee is.One theory is that this migh be a post-hypnotic suggestion from Red John, which makes Jane remember Sophie Miller and eventually leading to him finding her head in her oven. This could also suggest that Red John planted the clues about his 'fear of heights' (acrophobia) (or fear of insect bites - acorophobia).

13. Does the red-headed lady on a bench feeding pigeons have any significance?

Also in 06x02: "Black-Winged Redbird", while Jane and Lisbon sitting on a park bench, there's a lady on the next bench feeding pigeons. Some people have speculated that this woman is Partridge in drag. Or could she have some other significance?

14. Why does nobody ask why it is necessary to shoot a chained (hand and foot) unarmed suspect in the back in order to prevent his shuffling getaway?

I mean, c'mon!

15. What happened at the end of episode 06x06: "Fire & Brimstone"?

Many questions remain from this. The gunshot, the voice who called "No, wait...", and of course the bomb. Who planted the bomb? Was it Jane, up to some trick? Or was it Red John, who was forced to detonate it as a diversion to escape? We will most probably know all this in the next episode.

When PJ & Bertram first met in 03x01 they shook hands on camera and
Bertram called him 'boy wonder' which is kind of weird because how
should he know about Janes nickname from the past.
Also Jane talks about having a bad feeling when it comes to Gale Bertram.
I
don't really know why but Bertram has always been making me feel like
he is suspiciously unsuspicious. I really like the idea of him being RJ
because at least the season 4 finale with him giving the important
'rope' hint would make sense.
Let me know what you think about my opinion :)
