CONTAINS SPOILERS about RJ meeting PJ!

I read in the TV Guide that PJ kills RJ in a park.  Remember the pigeon scene in the park after learning
of Sophie’s death?  Like it was some sort
of clue, as were the pigeons present at Partridge’s death and in the bell tower.  If RJ hates pigeons to the point of fear and
Jane figures this out, perhaps Jane meets RJ in a park --where there’s sure to
be pigeons-- to have an upper hand.

OK - this may be a big spoiler:

The reason RJ did not kill Lisbon at the end of ep1 was because he came to an agreement with PJ.  They will work together to flush out Tiger, Tiger and then RJ will reveal himself to PJ.  A few supporting facts:

1) This explains the smiley with the vertical eyes which (according to ep5), indicates rebirth.  RJ spared Lisbon's life, gave her a new life, whatever.  RJ did this, most likely, in return for a future favor from PJ.

2) According to Heller, there is an important clue in ep1.  This is it.

3) In the recent TV Guide interview, PJ states that RJ reveals himself to him because he wants to have a relationship/friendship.  Again, this is in line with the secret agreement between the two.

4) PJ did not want to take Lisbon with him because of this.  No need to endanger her life again, but more importantly, being unaware of the agreement, she may have acted unexpectedly and ruined the plan.

5) Due to the vertical eyes, whose meaning was disclosed in ep5, RJ is within the Visualize group.  However, he may or may not be either of the two usual suspects on the list.

6) Nothing noteworthy happens in ep6 except the fact that Kirkland's being shot is now known.  The superficial investigation by Rigsby is just a clue for the audience to know that RJ also knows it.

7)  RJ is, or is a close friend of, Kirkland's brother.  Upon learning that he was shot by Tiger, Tiger, he asked PJ to return the favor; who then rounds the suspects up.

8) PJ's shotgun is for the Tiger, Tiger.  But his pistol, which he hid behind his belt, is reserved for RJ.

9) The next episode, ep7, shows a hunt for Tiger, Tiger members.  They are being eliminated and exposed.  Once this is done, in ep8, RJ keeps his promise and discloses himself to PJ.

ok guys, first of all, kudos to heller for creatng such a marvel and to baker for such a lively and impeccable portrayal of jane. now to business here.

so what do you think PJ is? a wannabee kid detective who would wait for the clues in a treasure hunt to fetch the biggest motive of his life? and what would yhe creator of the show think? they make sure his plan is revealed only in teh end of even the pettiest of his tricks and this is the magnum opus of his life.....and 4 people other than him know it.....wow......i dont buy it and it makes for a boring chase as well i think.

so jane is playing the big strategy in this masterful chess game to trap the king..

the biggest move he has made to date is the list of fake rj suspects, not the one he gave to kirkland (or planted) but the one he showed to lisbon......i think he requested lorelei to shoot that vide tape for him when they were together and he put those 7 names there just to confuse everyone around him..and he promptly destroyed the dvd which is suspicious...so i think he is just confusing everyone else and even rj if he is too active ion bugging his space..and eventually he would say this is the man i knew from before was rj and just wanted to trap him as he was so clever......and my vote is on Virgil Minneli..

1-  minneli was out of vacations during the mexico killings.
2-  he has been reintroduced in one flash back episode and once while fishing which i dint think there was any use really for.
3-  he is a solid character artists and the promoters wouldnt want RJ to be some lightweight guy like maybe the guy playing smith..or the sherrif
4-  he is well connected and has the age needed
5-  bertram could be reporting it to him as he was the predecessor..

but anyhow, the list of 7 ought to be a feke..jane is planning the ruse behind that ploy

This is not so much a theory as it is a couple of questions.  I just re-watched Strawberries & Cream II (Where Patrick Jane shoots the Red John imposter, Timothy Carter).  A couple of things struck me:

1) Jane never told anyone outside of the team that he was taking Bertram to that mall to confront him about being Red John.  For all we know, he only told Rigsby and Cho.  Even Bertram did not know ahead of time where they were going.

2) The "assassin" was not just going to kill Hightower - she brought along instruments of torture.  She did NOT simply want to kill Hightower.  Either she was instructed to get information from Hightower or to abduct Hightower - not just kill her.

3)We do NOT know that the "assassin" was only heading down to room 505 (the room number given to O'Laughlin.  That rope might have reached at least a couple of floors lower.

4) We now know that there is an organization within law enforcement, spanning several agencies, that is interested in Red John or perhaps even associated or even led by him.  We knos that Bertram is part of that organization.  Might O'Laughlin have been part of that organization as well?  Might that organization have been more interested in killing Hightower than torturing or abducting her?  Is Hightower a member of that organization so she needed to be disposed of since they might have feared her spilling about the entire organization?

It just seems that, in a series like this, where nothing can be taken at face value (or rather everything must be taken at ONLY face value), a lot of people jump to conclusions that are not necessarily established by the facts that we actually see.
