Did anyone notice that Haffner is the only one who is sitting up straight with so to speak perfect posture while everyone else is slouched back. Red John is described as having perfect posture and I mean think about it Haffner comes off as a smug son of a bitch who is full of himself but also I can see him having followers.
For a long time now I've been wondering if a single person could be Red John.My theory now is that it is not a person, it's an Idea.
The trailer for Episode 7 and two previous episodes confirm that.I do not believe it is either anyone from Jane's team or his suspects.There are in fact two chances:a) it's a Movement (like Visualize, which was inspired by RJ) consisting of manyb) it's someone else ,that will surprise us all at the end.Either way - good to have a show to write and think about:)

A question rather than a theory. Do any of the suspects play an instrument? Specifically a stringed instrument.
I think that Red John is Gale Bertram because:
-He drinks tea(3x24)
-He quotes part of the William Blake poem(3x16)
-He helps to frame Hightower when he informs La Roche that Hightower had a relationship with one of Todd Johnson's victims which shown she had motive
-If the 666 theory is right then it links to Bertram.
-He is quite powerful because he is the CBI director
-When he first meets Jane he calls him boy wonder which is what Jane's father called him and not many people know that.
-Jane said Red John would be at the mall on the season 3 finale and because Red John wasn't Timothy Carter, it only leaves Gal Bertram.
-When Reede Smith, McAllister and Bertram are talking it appears that Bertram is leading them some how and we now know that they are in the tyger tyger group and we know Red John is likely the leader.
-Bertram led Jane to O'Laughlin by mentioning Rope and O'Laughlin led Jane to Timothy Carter who Jane killed and went to prison for it.All caused by Bertram and to do that he had to know that Jane was setting a trap for the CBI mole because O'Laughlin told RJ and if RJ is Bertram thats how he would have found out.
-When Jane invited everyone to his house Bertram was one of the people who was sat calm which is how Sophie Miller described Red John.
-If Red John killer the PI then Bertram is easily the strongest suspect with only McAllister and Reede Smith left
-It's not much but from the last time I looked at the cast in the episode "Red John" Bertram and Smith were the only two suspects there and I am pretty sure its not Reede Smith.
I just re-watched the episode "Red Wedding". Not one of my favorites this year. However, Jane has a very interesting conversation with Sheriff Mcallister. He sneaks up on Patrick to which Jane says he didn't hear him coming. The Sheriff then replies, "Well it's an old habit. I've been a hunter most of my life." "What do you hunt? Jane asks. "Anything with a face..." Patrick then points out that hunting requires quite a blood lust. From this conversation alone, I am really starting to think it's Mcallister. He enjoys killing. Also, he mentions he's been a hunter most of his life. Perhaps he started killing in 1988 at the Visualize farm?
The Sheriff is also middle-aged but in good health, as Sophie Miller notes. He's got the most calm and self-assured posture like Sophie describes. When he was cast in season one, Xander Berkley had a bit more hair which was "short and straight" as Rosalind describes. He's under six feet, not muscular but not thin. Whether He Is Mar means He Is Marked or He Is Marhsall, again he fits. Lastly, he's the only one who really seems to want to befriend Patrick. I mean, he even says, he's at Patrick's disposal anytime. He even asks him to call him "Tom". All this coupled with a taste for blood has suddenly put him in the forefront to me.
Plus I re-watched his first episode, "Red Hair-Silver tape". He was pretty creepy from the get go. He almost forced Van Pelt into his car to the point the team thought he was the killer. If the tattoo thing is legit, and the list is truly legit, then "Tom" just might be our guy!
