THE THEORIES

Just wondered if anyone else really looked at the photo of Allan Charney? I see a strong resemblance to Bob Kirkland, lazy eye and all.  It was stated that Charney had family. Perhaps Charney somehow survived (and the body is someone else) or perhaps a brother of Charney is out to get Red John himself.

Why doesn't Jane simply record the voices of all the 7 suspects (without them knowing) and play it to Rosaline , as she had sexual relationship with RJ and talked to him she might recognize his voice.
I think RJ is the one who looks more likely to be not.For example Bob Kirkland- we think that its too obvious that he's Red John, but think about it - when Bob asked the man in the hospital if he recognizes him, the man said no.Maybe RJ has made a plastic surgery , but he still improves his new voice and act so he wanted to know if hes doing it well by asking the man if he knows him.The man said no and RJ doesn't need him anymore so he killed him before he could tell PJ Red Jone's previous identity. There was no smiley face because the nurse knew who is the only one who had entered in that room.So RJ made sure it doesn't look like a murder and especially from him.

My theory is simple and based on dubbers.
Although I am a proud sustainer that RJ may be Brett Partridge, I must acknowledge what follows:

Just ran into a list of the Italian dubbers of the serial (which you can find here: http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Personaggi_di_The_Mentalist#Criminali) and could not help but notice that the Italian dubber of Red John (as confirmed here in the right side box, you can find "Voce italiana: Massimo De Ambrosis" which means "Italian voice: Massimo De Ambrosis" http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_il_Rosso) also happens to be the dubber of two other characters in the serial. Those are Timothy Carter (Fake RJ, eventually killed by PJ) and ....DRUM ROLL.... Robert Kirkland.

Even if you are not native Italian speakers, you can find this out on your own by clicking CTRL+F with your active browser window to look for words within the page you're visiting.
You can enter "Massimo De Ambrosis" in the first link I provided just to find 3 occurrencies which are those I mentioned.
("doppiato da" = "dubbed by")

Could somebody please confirm this for other languages as well? I was not able to find the names of the french, spanish, german, and so on dubbers to confirm the theory.

Red John is Marshal Exley; no?

The answer is yes. In the episode "red
sauce" (20, first series) meet Marshal Exley, a
federal protection officer witnesses. It looks like
a man "harmless", which is foreign to the case
on which focuses the incident, despite early
suspicions. E 'in a great location, being a federal, to get all the data they want, when they need it.
is a person of the right age to impersonate Red
John. John was described as a "good man" by
those around him, probably communicates
outside a reassuring image. Right at the end of
the episode, Jane Eyke embraces him and says "you're a good man." It would be nice if he is
really Red John, right? John was described by
Rosalind as a tall man about 1.80, short hair,
hands "from employee" rude. It smells like pine,
iron and earth. It 'a lover of Bach. The physical
description does not seem so far from our marshal ..

John kills the victims with violence, must be an
aggressive type and probably misogynistic. A
little 'as the federal marshal Eyke, especially hard
with Lisbon. In the same episode, the murderess
of Eddie Russo is the wife of Eddie, while the
head of the department of Eyke is his colleague, Knox, who turns out to have had an affair with
Russian. And if Eyke had planned everything,
having discovered the report of Knox? If he had
made it clear to the wife of the Russian treason
and caused the murder, knowing that she could
not bear another betrayal? In this way he stuck his boss, the same as Patrick tells him at one
point. And what of the Knox, after being found
in a car in a suicide attempt (it? Umm ..)? The
answer is that we do not know! The only
information on Knox are those that Eyke gives
the CBI, no verification, none of our talks to her after the attempted suicide with pills! Indeed,
Eyke insists on going alone from Knox

Another detail: in the case of "Red Sauce" the CBI
has to do with the Italian-American mafia. There
is the murder of Eddie Russo and the boss Sonny
Battaglia .. Well, in the episode "Red John's
Footsteps" discover that he used a pseudonym
is an Italian-American name, Roy Tagliaferro. How many similarities, eh?

episode 19*5

What's with the Bloody Mary? Same drink Jane drank on the anniversary of his family's death. 2. Why did Jane smile when he picked up the toothpick ?

Patrick has finally reduced his Red John list to only two
possible candidates. Let’s say Bob Kirkland and Walter Mashburn. Patrick removes
any references to Mashburn on his connection board, leaving Kirkland and six
other characters that he has already eliminated. After letting Red John copy the
information (Red Letter Day episode) and derive the planted list, he waits for
Red John to react. If Red John thinks Patrick is off the mark and he will stay
smugly silent. In that case, Mashburn is Red John.  If Red John is provoked into a violent
response because he feels Patrick is drawing close (Red John’s Rules), Patrick
concludes it must be Kirkland.

In 2x8 (His red right hand) we learn about another operative for RJ. I suggest watching this episode if you haven't seen in. Reveals that RJ is in fact human and capable of making mistakes.

At the very end of the episode, RJ (we presume because Rebecca smiles lovingly at a character walking towards her) kills Rebeca. The clip is below.

Most importantly, at 1:25 you can capture the back of the presumed RJ head. Dark hair, cut short. He is dressed in the same uniform as the other officers. You would need to presume then any of the suspects that would have "normal access" there would be recognized by other employees. And therefore would be suspicious if they were in a officer uniform. (i.e. partridge or bertram).

The most likely case would be Kirkland.
