Can't really give a while lot of explanation here, but I just can't shake the feeling that this is all going to lead back to Brett.  I haven't checked future episodes for cast listing, because I don't want to spoil the surprise for myself, but I really hope I'm right.  He seems perfect for this, and being presumed dead is so consistent with the whole biblical motif that's going on.

Not a theory, just a fun coincidence: Jack Plotnick´s character on Criminal minds is called Tanner Johnson, which is composite of Red John minions surnames (Todd Johnson, Dumar Tanner and Orville Tanner).

Partridge is Red John. He keeps killing. I saw him on Criminal Minds. Sorry Patrick. He is already caught by FBI. You are too late :D

Whatever happens and whoever is Red John, that is some awesome show. Im happy that the mystery is about to be revealed and sad at once beacuse of incoming finale

Did you notice that the very last episodes in series names contains some other colours than red ? And I wonder if it was a mystery to the actors themselves

Episode 2 just aired here in UK. I've figured out who Red John is. If that trailer about Jay Roth is anything to go by, I expect some massive diversions in the upcoming episodes to swing the gullible audience every way possible. But you're 4 whole episodes ahead, so I expect you've whittled it down to Partridge by now.

1. Lisbon in hospital to Jane: "You were right. Red John hooked me like a fish."

Previous episode: Brett Partridge is wearing a fishing hat.

2. Ray Haffner in hospital to Lisbon: "I heard you were this close to Red John."

Previous episode: Brett Partridge isn't alone. Someone else is in the door opposite. Lisbon was close to 2 people. Brett Partridge or Person X is Red John.

3. Script Error or Red John Revealed by Patrick..

Patrick Jane says "Red John just killed Sophie Miller.... He's getting desperate. He's killed 2 people in the space of days."

Seeing as Red John "just killed Sophie Miller", he's killed 3 people in the space of days. Eileen Turner, Brett Partridge, then Sophie Miller.

Patrick knows Brett Partridge is Red John, so he doesn't count Brett Partridge.

4. Patrick's mind games have already begun.

Some woman who looks like Partridge sits next to Jane and Lisbon in the park. Patrick stares at her hand and can probably tell its not the real Red John. Then Patrick starts talking about Jay Roth meeting Sophie Miller in person; that's why he had to kill her. So he must have left a file.

This happened after Jane took the recording device from Sophie's house. So Jane is setting Red John up.

Everyone says all the clues point to Partridge, but there are some problems with that.

Why does people say Partridge wanted to be friends with Jane ?
People say look at the dialog.

Well in Season 2 Partridge takes the piss out of Jane by talking about Jane collecting the Psychic scents and he also calls him a jerk.

Also RJ is an excellent marks man, he shoots 3 people in the season 2 finale in very bad lighting, killing one and wounding 2 - Partridge is not weapons trained.

Where would he get all the money for Limos, Hench men and setting people up with a new life ?

Do you really see a small weedy man like Partridge intimidating and brain washing O'laughen ?

I put myself believing that Brett Patridge is Red john. It coundn't be any obvious. Bruno Heller said that it is important that Patridge died at the first episode of the season. Many people have been expecting him before that and so does patrick. Self elimination had to be made to clear those assumption or else it would get too easy. And his death isn't even investigated and when lisbon got pulled and faints, red john draw on her face, where the f is brett patridge? Its really confusing but still i expect brett patridge to be red john.
