Okay, so who wants to help me solve the mystery of the board behind Rigsby in the promo for The Great Red Dragon? We see pictures of McAllister, Haffner, and Stiles, and Rigsby points to them as he says: "Red John planted the bomb to kill Jane and the other suspects." We know that Bertram and Smith are still alive, as they are on the guest list for the next couple of episodes. Yet the promo says it is down to three suspects? Three suspects are on the "dead" board, so if Bertram and Smith are the only ones left, who is the third suspect?

Also of interest: There is a picture of the crime scene (bottom right of the board) and three yellow arrows probably pointing to the three dead suspects (or what remains of them.)

But here is the thing I am most curious about: The image to the left of the crime scene with red, blue, and yellow marks. We can also see the layout of the room where the explosion occurred. I can see that some of the marks are labeled as "DNA" but I'm trying to decode what the different colors mean..who is alive and who is dead? Anyone want to help me figure this out? I think it could be a big clue.

Red john, as was said earlier, was a member of visualise, and his current age shud be 25 years added to anyone below 30, so his maximum age is 55 and his minimum is 35. Then we get to know that he has 3 dots on his left shoulder, which indicate him being part of / in charge of the organization tyger tyger, i personally think he is in charge of it, as he is as smart as jane , perhaps even smarter, and i doubt someone of such an intellect would stick to an organization which he didnt form. So we are left with an intelligent, possibly rich person, with lots of connections, very devious, cunning, he is probably someone we wouldn't suspect, but we aren't PJ, he probably figured out who RJ is from the message that was sent to patrick, and with the list which RJ predicted patrick would conclude, we have to think of it, from red john's perspective. If you were red john, you would probably panic, or be very cautious about mentioning your own name in the list of the adversary, yet if you don't mention it, and patrick the name on his list, then it won't take him long to figure out who you are, so what do you do? you put yourself in patrick's shoes and forget that you are red john. That is why, we are unable to say that the list is real or fake, but personally, i think that it is fake. None of the people of the list, fit the criteria of red john, so who does? there is only one answer: who could have befriended patrick had he desired so? who got close to Lisbon and would have got her love had he wanted so? the answer is simple: W.M. : Walter Mashburn. He is the only person that comes in mind.

Partridge fits all of the clues that the blind woman left even the same voice, he faked his death we never saw him after that appearence and with the Tygers inside the cbi fbi it wouldnt be hard to fake it and I also think that he is Bret Stiles' son, thats the only way he could have such a power even in Mexico and we all know that Stiles has friends all over the world. Partridge also appeared on every season at least once if Im not wrong so everything fits, he with the help of the tygertygers and visualize.
For the guys with the tattoo I think they clearly ARE NOT Red John but they are part of the Tyger Tyger and thats like their insignia, im not sure they are disciples of RJ or just a bunch of cops helping each other to catch the biggest serial killer ever, anyway there is sth about Kirkland's twin broder I am sure he killed that suspect but if thats so maybe he just joined Visualize and turned a killer with Stiles leading him, Patrick never investigate or asked Stiles about the address he gave him and how the hell could he know? 
Another thing, in the promo for 6x07 we can see that after the shot in PJ house we can notice a flashlight, and Jane make the 3 suspects with the tattoo get on a white wall, maybe he took a picture of them with the tattoo and left it to lisbon for searching about those three because we also saw behind Rigsby the picture of Sheriff Thomas.

So many questions will be answered this month I can't wait! your thoughts?

PARTRIDGE OR MICHAEL KIRKLAND.

Hello, I found another theory, which I altered (again), to provide a description of episode 6. It is once again, a piece of fun. Feel free to criticise if you don’t understand it fully. Plot accuracy is not 100%, but I tried my best. Enjoy/hate. Your show, your opinion!

Part 6: Fire and Brimstone


What actually happens in Patrick's house?



You must read this opening to understand the sequence of events that take place.

1. We know Bertram knows Kirkland. Agent Kirkland asks "Can we trust her?" about Lisbon to Bertram.

(a) If its Michael, he's asking "Is she holding out on info about Lorelei Martins?"
(b) If its Robert, he's asking "Is she part of the corrupt group in law-enforcement?"

It is most probably Robert. Because Kirkland says "You'd know better, you've worked with her." And Bertram says "Can we trust anyone?"

2. We know Bertram calls himself seemingly "duplicitous" right in front of Patrick. That's not something a suspect/Redjohn should be saying.

3. We know Bertram wants to be there, when they catch Red John.

This all points to Bertram being the Snape of The Mentalist. He's a triple agent. He's actually a good guy.

There is 1 gunshot fired, then a large period of time later: a Bomb Blast.

Ok, so you know:

-Bertram is a triple agent - a good guy! 
-Bertram knows Kirkland
-Bertram knows McAllister
-Bertram knows Smith

Proof they are all good cops on the inside of the Tiger Tiger:-

1. Bruno Heller says Red John has bad intentions for some of those on the list.

2. Kirkland is not a retard. When he meets Smith for coffee, he is missing one cup, as he has just met with Bertram again. He does not randomly choose a low-level agent to confide the Tiger Tiger message to. Kirkland is questioning of Lisbon, the most honest cop there is. He sneaks up on Smith unsuspectingly to check out if he’s a good undercover cop. Noone told Smith that Kirkland knows he's undercover. Kirkland found out via Bertram over coffee. Anyway, Smith helps Kirkland stage his death when they're both on the same page. They make a big show in front of the van driver. 

3. It is no co-incidence 3 suspects, meet the day after Partridge is "dead". Bertram is still keen for Patrick to tell them when he's close to catching Red John. They’re all actually good guys. McAllister saves Patrick’s life. Patrick even asks “When you said you’re at my disposal, did you really mean it?” Patrick who keeps his cards closest to his chest, has a hunch they’re good.

4. Patrick reassures them he knows they're being watched. "I've always suspected this room was bugged... wired." 

5. Ok, when those 3 reveal their tattoos, they have this look on their face: First, it looks like Hate. But they're saying "You’re smart, you KNOW we're undercover- you better not shoot me!"

6. Patrick separates those 3 suspects. Then he shoots Ray Haffner. Ray Haffner is not Red John, but he is a murderer. He killed the copycats, Jared Renfrew and the prostitute, and he painted the smiley on Lisbon. Figures, why RJ’s MO seemingly changed during the series.  It is clear however, he did NOT kill Jane’s family.  Jane’s wife and daughter were slashed in real RJ style.

7. Here comes the explanation : Ray Haffner is the Halloween Masked Man. 

Quote Brett Partridge: “[Redjohn]’s been laying low for years, working through friends and proxies.” 

-       When Halloween Masked Man saves PJ from the copycats, he shoots left-handed 
-       The way Ray Haffner walks, is the same as the Halloween masked man 
-       Halloween masked man paints Lisbon’s face taking care Brett Partridge uses the phone, while Haffner paints. 
-       Haffner is in Lisbon’s dream 
-       Halloween masked man pats Jane on the shoulder, the same way Haffner pats Cho after their talk
-       Ray Haffner looks like he was a football player, he won the “Heisman” trophy (Renfrew’s only clue) 
-       Surveillance expert- easily knows he was bugged + easily tracks down Jared Renfrew

Haffner is moving like a robot. Because he’s actually waiting before Brett Partridge speaks, before he can carry out an action. He waits for the voice to act on 3 occasions: 

-       He walks to the copycats. Cue Pause for voice. Then slashy time. 
-       He walks to Patrick’s chair. Cue voice. Then lifts it up
-       He leans into Patrick’s face for like 3 seconds before spitting out the first word of the poem.

8. Brett Partridge is Red John. Red John bombs the suspect’s meeting later, according to Rigsby. Bruno Heller did say it wasn’t a good list to be on. McAllister/Stiles/Haffner’s bodies are unaccounted for.

9. Patrick Jane had plenty of time to question Bret Stiles. Patrick must know something! He is clearly uninjured from the bomb blast, judging from the promo.

-Patrick survives. 
-Haffner is dead already. 
-Bertram survives. -Smith survives.
-Red John’s bomb kills Sherriff McAllister. The pigeon is a personification of death.
-Bret Stiles was either saved by Brett Partridge during the bombing/ killed to stop him giving Patrick information.

I think Red John is Partridge. The 3 dot tattoo is for the Tyger Tyger corrupt police group. So I don't think Red John is McAllister, Bertram or Reede Smith. we clearly saw Kirkland get shot and die but we were only dold that Partridge was killed therefore there is a chance he is alive and is red john.

Red John is not on the list/or is presumed dead (that leaves Partridge/Haffner). Why?. Patrick Jane - the most brilliant detective from all tv series/movies I've seen (and I believe most of you too) wouldn't just do a random kill on a guy who has 3 dots tatoo on his shoulder. Why? Because he already did that mistake once and I can bet everything that he's not that stupid to do this again. Personally I've been suspecting Partridge since the 1st episode and I hope somehow it's going to be him/Haffner or someone else not from the list. Patrick Jane in one of episodes said to Lisbon that ppl should always trust their feelings. Imho Patrick Jane is pulling something like a "long con" here.
First of all I don't know on what you guys have been building your theories but I thought of reasons that Jane would put these ppl on his list.

1.
Season 1 episode 1 - First scene. We see CBI team doing their investigation, Brett Partridge comes in saying "Red John enters here..." isn't that obvious? What I mean is in my opinion a good writer in most of the times knows an ending of his story, so imho it's obvious that we must have met Red John in season 1.
2.
Among all of the seven suspects he has no authority and power in law enforcement or even resources such as the rest of them. But I'd also bet that he's indeed a member of the Law Enforcement Conspiracy (I like to call this "The L.E.C.").
3.
He was present at each possible Red John crime scene and each time he was wrong in his judgement or atleast he pretended to be. That might have been a thing that Jane noticed.
4.
He perfectly fits Rosalind's description.
5.
Red John said to Patrick that he's about to show him what being clever means. What would be a better way than to guide Patrick to pick 7 names when 1 of them is actually true and then fake your own death. Why am I thinking that Brett's death is a fake? Because they were always showing us how Jane reacts on that smiley face, this time they didnt.
6.
Have you seen Bret Stiles reaction on Jane's words: One of you is Red John?
He lol'd Jane just as he wanted to say - after all this time and clues ppl gave you, you still dont know anything. I dont remember in which episode Stiles said to Jane that he knows more than Jane and RJ think. Also I bet Bret knew about The L.E.C. and thats why he stopped Jane from shooting McAllister. Bret Stiles knew Red John identity.

Also I've always been thinking that the last season of The Mentalist is going to be a brain war between PJ and RJ and so far all we've got is a random elimination. If all of this isn't a great trick that is suppoused to make us all like "WTF, how is it possible to him to be Red John" then I'll really regret watching this.

Well, I have many days reading some impressive theories here; it has been my hobby this week. This is maybe my favorite show because has catched my attention, at the point of having me here putting a theory

First thing I want to say is that we have the believe whats Heller has said on interviews like "we can trust the list" and "I decided who was RJ many times ago" and "Brett Partridge is dead" simply because he can't go out saying lies on interviews and expect that people can trust him later. Many people who write stories think in the final first before even start. What I can say is that all the things that Bruno says on the interviews are ambiguities... Now that you know my opinion, here there are theories...

1- Partridge could be alive. He can be the one who has two personalities Brett Partridge and Red John. He killed his Brett Partridge side when Jane discovered the seven suspects. RJ has followed Jane steps since Patrick said he will catch him; being also a mentalist RJ could easy figure out the 7 suspects. Including himself Partridge. He could fake his death immediately to avoid Patrick suspect of him. 

2- Another theory is that BP is actually dead and that Tyger tyger organization has nothing to do with Red John and he just wanted to keep Jane busy; thats why maybe he told to Partridge about the cops and Tyger Tyger stuff before kill him. Just to mislead Jane and the team.

3- If Partridge is actually dead; Ray Haffner is Red John  because fits with all the descriptions and Stiles covers him. But also can be a trick from Heller, not because he fits means he is.

4- Another crazy thing that is in my mind is that Red John manipulated Jane by planting all the clues to confuse Patrick. RJ is smart enough to do that. Threes of the suspects have phobias, two of them are members of Visualize, three of them are members of  Tyger Tyger, all of them fit in some point with Rosaline description, some of them have a strange voice.... you got my the point.
