I agree with the posters who say Bret Stiles has some connection to Red John (Brett Partridge). I'm not necessarily sure if he they're father and son, but it is possible. Maybe Bret with one T was Red John back in the day and taught Partridge the tricks of the trade to carry on his legacy.
I was thinking about the poem Tyger Tyger the other day, and the thing that kept popping up in my mind was the question in the poem: Who "dared" create the Tyger? It is an origin story. Who was responsible for making Red John what he is? His father? Maybe. That is the central question of the poem with regards to the Tyger.
Fearful symmetry? How about Brett and Bret. Father and son? Mentor and apprentice?
Another idle thought which probably isn't relevant. Tiger spelled with a Y instead of an I(archaic English), Styles spelt with a I instead of a Y? Symmetry?
Brett Partridge alone, doesn't seem to make full sense as Red John. He lacks the charisma, the high level connections. Brett Partridge and Bret Stiles working together would make for quite a team.
He's dead.

Sorry......this is continued from my last post, I must have made a mistake submitting it.
...and they are all a bit old and not very nice looking.
Also I think that Bret Stiles is Partridge's dad. Why use the name Bret twice??? I mean, the writers could have thought up another name for the characters of Stiles and Partridge. Why use Bret twice??
I still think it's Partridge!
Earlier in the episode, Jane says, "If he is Red John, he is a very good actor". And Lisbon says, "Well you would have to be". With this is mind, I think that Partridge is just acting dead in the creepy house. With Lisbon unconscious, there is nothing to stop him from waking up and clearing off. Of course he has to have an accomplice but Red John has had accomplices in the past while killing.
If it does turn out in next week's episode that Partridge IS dead and the coroner takes away his body, well then maybe the coroner is one of Red John's accomplices too and declares him dead while he is just sleeping or unconscious due to some clever drug he has taken. I bet the body gets put in the morgue and then he gets woken up by a disciple at the morgue, and then he goes on killing, all the while everyone thinking that he is dead.
I like Partridge for it! All the others don't seem to fit in my opinion. Loreli Martins was a lover of Red John's. I can't imagine her going out with any of the other suspects as she is pretty and they are all a bi
I just don't understand why would Bruno Heller kill one of rare characters on the show that appeared since the pilot and that has been one of people's favorite for Red John role. I refuse to believe he's really dead, at least till i see the next episode.
Here are my thoughts on what might have happened:
1. Besides Lisbon and Partridge, there was another person in the house. Proof: Partridge was locked from the outside in that closet, no way he could have done that by himself.
2. He is really dead. Red John killed him, end of story.
3. Scenario where he might be alive and it was just a trick for Patrick to think he can't be Red John anymore since he's ''dead'' (Something Red John would actually do to protect himself since Patrick is getting closer) - When Red John is calling Patrick from Teresa's cellphone camera is on Patrick answering and Red John saying something like: ''Sorry Patrick, Teresa can't come to the phone right now, can i get a message?...then camera switches to Red John who is holding his knife with his left hand and wiping it with his right hand while saying: ''No?'' - My question is with which hand was he holding the cellphone? You can notice the ''No?'' is coming from the room where Red John is and the voice does sound like Brett.
Personally, I never thought he can be Red John (I have a solid theory for Bertram and I stick with him), but this was just a little hope for all the people that were and are still believing Brett is Red John.
All in all, even though if he really is dead we can at least say he was Red John's friend. (Tiger, tiger) ;)
Bruno Heller said that there is a clue at the last scene of The Desert Rose. The Clue is that when Lisbon called, waiting ouside the house, for aid they did not come which means that Red John or a friend of Red John has the power to stop the officers come to the house.I dont accuse Brett Partridge but i choose him because he has the most theories so you can easily read my theory for the clue.
