THE THEORIES

It's simple:

Red John (His Red Right Hand) http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7037/4sh2.png
Brett http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20100620225057/thementalist/images/4/4e/Brett.png

Look at the noses and the elongated face. From other small glances at RJ (again in His Red Right Hand, dont have an image) when RJ poisons the lady (I forgot her name at the moment) you catch a one frame second of RJ. He has short black hair. Rules out a few right there.

The remaining suspects have fat short noses and/or more round faces.

Hi guys, I'm the author of this theory:
http://www.whoisredjohn.com/See-a-theory-Red-John/3981
I was happy to see that my theory was so popular it actually got to be #1 of the month, with 97 positive.

Now, today I wanted to write a brief about the other suspects in the list, instead of telling you why it has
to be brett partridge, i will analyze the other suspects instead, are you still reading this? great!

Bob Kirkland
Well guys, Bob Kirkland can NOT be red john.
People say "well any of them can be rj because they are in the list" - don't forget that we know
details PJ doesn't know (yet).
+ Connections in the higher league.
+ Correct Age, Hair style, Height (below 6").
- Jason Lennon told Bob Kirkland that he doesn't recognize him, tho he knows and works for RJ.
- Bob Kirkland killed Jason Lennon which was the only way to reach to RJ.
- When Bob Kirkland killed Jason Lennon he didn't leave the RJ classic smiley face.

Bret Stilles
A very manipluative guy, is the head of 'visuallize', and killed before, has a lot of money.
+ Connections and money.
+ Mentalist, just like PJ (or maybe even better, no one knows).
+ Correct Height (below 6").
+ Head of visuallize.
- Needed the help of PJ in order to catch the guy who tried to destroy him.
- Wrong Age, Hair Style.
- Doesn't hate PJ (for as much as we know, he even helped him).

Brett Partridge
My prime suspect, i believe he's the guy based on my RJ theory.
He proves to be very evil, cold and a potential serial killer, and he matches RJ's profile by Rosalind
Harker.
+ Correct Height (below 6"), Age (47 according to Wikipedia), Voice (sounds very similar to RJ).
+ Resent to PJ, laugh and tease his "mentalist" power, and tell him he's doing the real job here.
+ Talks and behaves as a potential serial killer, calling dead people "human candles".
+ Possible connections from his job, with the help of other friends like Bob Kirkland/Bret Stilles.
+ Talks spanish, and have people talking spanish, just like RJ.
+ The "tyger tyger" RJ said, by William Blake, also has the poem which is called "Bless of Partridge".
+ Read William Blake's poetry, just like RJ.
+ PJ said he gets wierd feelings from Brett Partridge, saying Brett Partridge is a 'Ghoul'.
- Unknown money status, doesn't seem to work in a very rewarding (money) job.
- Always thinks that RJ made the fake RJ killings.

Gale Bertram
Sounds like a classic RJ, but he doesn't fit in the profile.
+ Suspicious behavior, near to Bob Kirkland and saying to him "She knows more than she tell..".
+ Money (unsure if he has a lot of it) and Connections.
+ read William Blake's poetry, just like RJ.
+ Appriciates PJ, always cautios about him like asking Lisbon questions about PJ.
+ PJ said he gets wierd feelings from Gale Bertram, that something with him is wrong.
- Got Tricked by PJ.
- Possibly wrong Age, Height (above 6").

Ray Haffner
He's Alegant, has money and is a member in 'visuallize'.
+ member in 'visuallize'.
+ Age, Hair Style.
+ Money and Connections.
- Height (above 6").
- Got tricked by PJ.

Reede Smith
Just a suspicious character, a great conspiracy suspect guy.
+ Anagram "Reede Smith" -> "Red Is Me".
+ Age, Hair Style.
- Height (above 6").
- Body weight.
- Got tricked by PJ.
- Not enough appearances in the show.

Thomas McAllister
OMG come'on, him?! if it's him than bruno heller is crazy, a very good suspects for guys who love
conspiracy.
- Wrong Age, Hair Style, Height (above 6").
- Not enough appearances in the show.
- Got tricked very easily by Lisbon's team with the help of PJ.

Brett Partridge likes to call Jane on his decisions to many Red John cases, and is present at quite a number. He works at the CBI so he has at least a close connection to Jane and Lisbon and the team. In the video he fights Jane on the what's clever and what isn't, and Brett likes to fight Jane's decision on things.

His name is Brett which is a similar (allbeit differently spelt) name to Bret Styles, who one can guess is Red John's father. Bret Styles and Jane get on too well for it to be him, but there's a strong connection between Styles and Red John. Similarly, this is the case with Bertram. I've no doubt that every single person on Jane's suspect list is either a FRIEND OF or Disciple of Red John, but alas only one of them is actually Red John...

Bob Kirkland has taken a vested interest in Jane's investigation, which suggests friend or disciple of Red John but I doubt Red John himself would care as much as that.

Ray Haffner, again, probably knows of Red John through Visualize, but doesn't actually have to skills to do anything. Jane plays him effectively in that one episode, and his reveal as Red John would be boring... Although he does ask Cho if he thinks Jane is smarter than him, but that's such a weak link...

Reede Smith is a boring nobody, and I think his reveal as Red John would be even crapper than Ray. At the end of the day, he's just an FBI agent who clashed with CBI when jurisdiction came up, not exactly fun.

Thomas McAllister, is a creepy perv, but that doesn't mean he's Red John. I mean, he was in one episode, and all he did was try to rape Van Pelt. If he WAS Red John, he'd have known VP was CBI and wouldn't have tried anything. RJ has been watching Jane for a long time, he's not going to get fooled by that cheap trick. Plus if his obsession with outsmarting Jane was so strong, he'd like to do it a lot more.

So my conclusion is Brett Partridge as he's the only real character Jane legitimately doesn't get on with, and is - as Jane will tell you - a ghoul. Plus, he has a freaky voice, which kinda sounds Red John-y from the season 4 finale.

Although chances are it's none of them :) I hope we find out who, but don't catch him... They can't catch Red John, they finish the show.

Hello ! I'm going on the premise that :

* Patrick Jane mocked all suspects of the List but one of these suspects was thinking : "Continue, honey! I killed your lovely wife and child. And I loved that!" Whatever a suspect seems idiot, he would be being if he would expose his true face : "Hey, Jane! See! I'm cold, heartless and clever. I'm your guy!" Please.

THE LIST:

Bret Stiles (Malcom McDowell - age 70, 5' 8½"
Sheriff McAllister (Xander Berkeley) - age 57, 6'
Gale Bertram (Michael Gaston) - age 50, 6' 3"
Raymond Haffner (Reed Diamond) - age 45, 6' 1"
Brett Partridge (Jack Plotnick) - age 44, 5' 11"
Robert Kirkland (Kevin Corrigan) - age 44, 5' 9"
Reede Smith (Drew Powell) - age 37, 6' 3"

But I will talk about Partridge only. For the others, it's the #111 on the french version. If this character (he appeared in the Pilot) is Red John, all his words would be poisonous. I don't know why but I imagine that Red John has a peculiar humor. Probably his smiling face...

We know Red John called himself Roy Tagliaferro (roy for king, tagliare for cut and ferro for iron... King of the Blades! He had to really enjoy himself when he charmed with this name...). One can assume that if he has others pseudonyms, they must be warped too. Partridge wins the Crazy Name's Game: Brett in celtic (bri) means esteem, he has the same first name that Bret Stiles (a wink?) - Two characters in the same series with the same name? - But with an added "t", this letter looks like a knife. His last name is a bird. William Blake painted A brace of Partridge (two cadavers of game birds with tied paws. As Red John makes with his victims.) Symbolism of the partridge ? An evil animal was "tempting the multitudes with his voice" ( http://books.google.fr/books?id=-ECFg1a_6bgC&pg=PA250&lpg=PA250&dq=partridge+symbolism&source=bl&ots....... and http://books.google.fr/books?id=-ECFg1a_6bgC&pg=PA250%20lpg=PA250&dq=partridge+symbolism&source=bl&o...... ) and the roslyn425's theory (the #4013) to highlight an interesting imagery :

 “Daedalus
was so proud of his achievements that he could not bear the idea of a rival.
His sister had placed her son, named variously as Perdix, Talus, or Calos, under his charge to be taught the mechanical arts. He was an apt scholar and showed striking evidence of ingenuity. Walking on the seashore, he picked up
the spine of a fish. According to Ovid, imitating it, he took a piece of iron
and notched it on the edge, and thus invented the saw. He put two pieces of
iron together, connecting them at one end with a rivet, and sharpening the
other ends, and made a pair of compasses. Daedalus
was so envious of his nephew's accomplishments that he took an opportunity and
caused him to fall from the Acropolis. Athena
turned Perdix into a partridge
and Daedalus left Athens due to this.”

We can adhere to the far-fetched theories with Stiles and Visualize with that... Red John would take in symbol a precocious genius protected by the goddess of the War, Wisdom, Artisans, Artistes and Teachers... Not surprinsing.

This is in the fact one of the characters to have a name without be named. He is named for the first time in Red John's Rules (season 5, episode 22): "You sure this wasn't Red John, are you, mister Partridge?" Incidentally, I have a weak level in English but if we reverse this sentence... Mister Partridge, you are Red John. Wasn't this you, sure ? I don't know.

Because Partridge has the same face than "classic Red Johns smiley face" (eyes, his propension to have a smile to his face then he is on a crime scene, a lock of hair on the right side), a similar voice and buttock. In His Red Right Hand (season 2, episode 8), Red John has a sexy gait like Jim Carrey in I Love you Philip Morris in his tiny shorts when he is in jail corridor and with the Rebecca's "uh, I took a triple dose of ecstasy" face... And Partridge is the only character filmed with his face and Red John's smiley in the same shot. This is a trap? Maybe but notice.

In addition to that, there is this picture of Red John :
http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/7037/4sh2.png ) in 21:06 one episode 8, season 2.

He's a forensics tech, admirer of Red John but he is regularly mistaken about him and he works in the same place than the Red John's Nemesis, Patrick Jane. He loves macabre things. And Red John just leaves his alone?

RJ's crimes are nervous and violent. It's a stalker who
« zaps [people] with his trusty stun gun » (see the Partridge's expressions: to zap is for insects and "trusty" is a personification... It's comic if Red John, who used peoples likes objetcs, humanizes an objetc. "Trusty, loyal" arent' harmless), cuts his victims troat, clubs anarchically their chest, binds up them and abuses of their viscera...a most polite way to say he raps their corpse. CADAVER.

As of now, one character appears canning to have fun with gore and necrophilia and this is Partridge: a ghoul is creature who enjoying cadavers (and who having the power of paralysis. And if we add the #4116 Stephen Triesch's theory that takes the cake!). "Then he takes his sweet time dealing with Alison. How he likes. She's a nice big girl." (Partridge's quote in Pilot) With the last bold word, see how this sentence is impossible to say in society. Especially with so much delectation and close by Ptrick Jane (everyone knows for his wife and child). Partridge has this weird tendency: he gives back the death living. A Red John's key theme.

Just for fun, in the pilot Patrick Jane underlines that RJ is a showman and what is Partridge making? His show. And he has always the golf club in his hands... the guy just walked it with.

When Partridge describes the way for drawing the Red John's smiley face, he says "rubber kitchen gloves". Why? Rubber kitchen gloves? It's very precise. I don't know to the United States but in France, the rubber kitchen gloves are mainly yellow and pink. Imagine a bloke is drawing on the wall with pink gloves, it's not glamor. I forgot it and told myself this guy had too much enthusiasm for RJ. But Red John wears really rubber kitchen gloves! We can see in Red Sky in the Morning (season 2, episode 23) and here: http://img842.imageshack.us/img842/9831/i5j8.png (His Red Right Hand, season 2, episode 8).

In Red Sky in the Morning (season 2, episode 23), in addition to the scene symmetry (the meeting with RJ/Jane), Partridge has fun talking Spannish. Red John killed Jared Renfrew and his whore in Mexico (and probably, it's him who writted He is man on the wall. Renfrew is dying, he turns over for writting subjet+verb+complement or worst... an anagram? Please. Red John's black humor.) Patridge imitates a psychic (later in this episode, Kristina frye will be abducted). If this guy is Red John, oh dear, I'm sorry but I think that's an evil genius! He presses right where it hurts.

In Red is the New Black (season 4, episode 13) it shows that RJ doesn't wear ring, Partridge also.

in Red John's Rules (season 5, episode 22), his behavior is differend than in the others scenes. He has a new haircut (made between the episode 15 and the episode 22); it's the same on the final suspects list. And the quote (a little bombshell): « I’ve worked Red John murder scenes since he began. » when he said in the pilot: « I’m stoked to finally see one in the flesh! » (This last sentence is very sarcastic if he's RJ... peculiar humor.)

UNSETTLING FACT: when Partridge's workmate says "I've always wanted to work with a famous killer", Patridge answers him : "hi." With a guttural and a little bite terrifying voice. Turn the volume up:

The devil is in the details.

I think it will be Brett only because I hope it's Brett.  I would love to see that final episode when PJ has his way with this character.  The show will be over soon and I think the creators would like to have the fans come to a satisfying conclusion to the show.  Just my two cents.

I was reading the Steven James novel "The King," and it mentioned that an old name for serial killers was calling them "ghouls." This is exactly what Jane said to Partridge in that first episode. Hm....
