THE THEORIES

People, the writer of the show has stated that :
ONE OF THE SEVEN IS RED JOHN

End of that discussion.
Stop with the nonsense theories about the fake list, i think that next season is gona be like the following, main characters will star to die.
Also they told us the hunt for red john gonna change, and the reason is because the season 5 finale.
So lets get focus on the 7 suspects... i think its Brett Partridge

Bret Stiles
too old, plus Bret and Jane are friends, but im pretty sure he knows who is red john

If it's not brett i think in Kirkland, many people say that he is not reveal until season 5, but maybe he was on the show at the background...i remember to see some pictures with a men in a limo talking with minelli in season 2, and he looks just like bob....

Personally I find very interesting coming here and reading all of your theorys, but one have got my attention: "A fake list made by Patrick to mislead Red John."
People betting in this one are missing some points of logic: for such plan work Red John HAVE to be on that list, otherwise he just won't fall for the trick! RJ would just realize that with the information Lorelei gave Jane could indeed find out who he is and so would see how fake the list is.
For that Jane would have to know who Red John is and, well, we all know that he would not be playing around if that was the case...
I think that's enough to break that theory... But if I'm wrong you guys can always enlighten my mind, of couse =p.

About the list... Well I have my guesses, but that's all what they are: guesses.
Oh, and isn't it great that just with the last episode the numbers of bets on Patrick being Red John have just lost first place? I really hated this theory. D=

New Interview with Bruno Heller

The seven Red John suspects were revealed on Sunday night’s The Mentalist finale. Or were they? With Red John seemingly knowing everything that’s in Patrick Jane’s head — including his list — how much can we trust that the elusive serial killer is really among those seven names? And what can we expect from The Mentalist in season 6? Below, creator Bruno Heller answers our burning questions about the finale and beyond.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: So after all that craftiness on Patrick Jane’s part, Red John is still a step ahead of him. So can we trust that the list is accurate if Red John is so willing to confirm it?
Bruno Heller
: Yes, we can trust that list. As much as much as Red John has been one step ahead with ahead, Lorelei Martins’ intervention changed the game. So as much as Red John is trying to play from a position of strength in reality Jane has gotten a lot closer. This last episode of the season really sets us up for next season: The hunt is on, no messing about.

Once again, you’re making moves that make me wonder if Patrick Jane is Red John — after all, how else could he know that memory from inside his head? But by saying Red John is definitely on the list, can we rule out the theory held by some fans that Jane is actually Red John?
Heller: I would say that definitively: Jane is not Red John.

Well, well. How convenient that Brett Partridge shows up in the beginning of the finale. I have suspected Brett for some time now, but even I was suprised by his appearance in the finale.
I also must admit I find Ray Hafner to be an intriguing RJ suspect, given that he was in the FBI and has ties to "Visualize."

But all evidence still leads to Brett. He has been around since the pilot and quotes classic literature just like RJ.

Brett Partridge is Red John.

Hi , this is my first comment and i would like to apologize for my poor English.
Heller insists that one of the names on Jane's list is indeed his serial-killing nemesis.
If this is true the only one in list who fits ( by character) to be red john is stiles , but he is too old .
I don't like to believe but since season 2 episode 8 (the flashback when R.J. kills peaks) i knew it was Partridge . i freeze frame and that long face and nose are Partridge's.
voice can be changed , poems can be read by everyone but that flashback was real RED JOHN . and again i don't like that creepy cheap guy be mastermind killer.

I also think that Bret Partridge is RJ. He was in the first episode and also in the final episode of Season 5. Many other people have listed why he fits the physical and age profile of RJ. It's interesting that he appears at the beginning of 'Red John Rules', and is the last named suspect of the 7. I also suspect that PJ has set a trap for RJ with a fake list, apparently stolen by RJ, since some of the names are ridiculous (Bertram, Sheriff McAllister, Smith), but there is an apparent connection with Red Stiles who seems to know who RJ is. Also, his creator, Bruno Heller has said that many people will be disappointed when they find out RJ's identity, and BP is the #1 suspect, so that would indeed be disappointing. The video of Lorelei may have been edited down to Patrick's final 7 list. RJ wants PJ to think he has psychic powers to read his mind. It is possible that PJ's father is still alive and told someone close to RJ about Patrick's childhood.

I have to suspects. Brett Partridge, or Patrick's father. He was there all of those times, and knows everything Red John does. When people accuse Patrick, it is the same as his dad, but Patrick isn't Red John. But his dad may be.
