I've changed it back to Partridge again! Hahaha just found out his name Partridge actually means literally a lecherous bird. The pigeons were a sign literally of redjohn's identity!

For those who believe your suspect could still be Red John: Someone as careful and calculating as RJ could have
planned/planted DNA or faked evidence if tyger tyger is really as deep
as they make it sound. Confirmation of the deaths
from the blast is brought to light and accepted as fact during the show before
mistrust in other law enforcement is placed. Forensics and all 'facts' that are not in front of us are up for debate. I do, however think that Partidge is dead. It makes no sense that CBI agent Cho would somehow not recognize a former colleague or look at his face to be absolutely certain it's him. Especially when there is so much mistrust going around. I give the writers more credit than that. That being said, the "DNA evidence" is not anything concrete that we can trust. This leaves Mcallister, Haffner and Stiles all available to possibly be alive. It is a fair guess assume that Patrick Jane isn't convinced that RJ is Bertram. Bertram is an evil man so PJ doesn't care about the pressures or situation Bertram is in now with the finger pointed at him, but he isn't RJ. Patrick wants RJ all to himself. That being said, I have no idea who RJ is but my hat is off to the creator for making such an interesting finale and finally bring this wonderful mystery to a satisfying close. Right until the very end.

This is the bottom line.....

I JUST CAN'T WAIT UNTIL NEXT SUNDAY WHEN WE FINALLY FIND OUT WHO RED JOHN REALLY IS!!!!!!!!!

I LOVE all of the questioning, the wondering, the guessing, the pondering, and the waiting....but soon, WE WILL KNOW! I CAN'T WAIIIITTTT!!!!!!

No matter who it is, I hear that this episode is going to be EPIC and AMAZING and SO WORTH THE WAIT!!!

Thank you The Mentalist for the most enthralling plot in television history!!!

Heller is a genius and Patrick is going to be a bad ass and FINALLY get his revenge.

Side note...I hate the fact that "Blue Heaven" is going to be two years in the future. What the hell!?!

the people who think that red john can't be brett partridge have obviously never watch the mentalist. or they are band wagoners and are only watching the last few episodes.

if you have ever watched the show you know that twists and turns are to be expected and red john is not going to be bertram, smith, or mcallister. that would be lame and heller has already said that its going to be a surprisingly evident ending.

I know, I know. Another Partridge theory. But I wouldn't waste my time writing this unless I felt I had something new to posit.

Bertrum: Unlikely for a score of reasons. While under the threat of torture a few episodes back, Jane refused to divulge his list of suspects to Kirkland. In what type of fevered dream could someone think Jane would divulge the identity of Red John to the media (the world), as was implied last week? Make no mistake: Jane wants Red John for himself. So it makes sense that he would give the media and the police a name he was certain was not that of Red John. And that's not to mention Bertrum's attempt on Jane's life in the hospital, and the way he sloppily murdered the bartender. Bertrum is a bad man -- a killer. But not our highly skilled serial killer.

Kirkland: Kirkland seems unlikely, as well, and so does his twin brother, or his clone, or any other device one could use to make this square peg fit a round hole. Unlike some of the characters I will touch on shortly, Kirkland's death is indisputable (we saw him shot repeatedly in the back). I admit, we can't be sure which Kirkland it was that died. We have to assume it was Bob, but perhaps Michael had been posing as Bob. We can't be certain. But one Kirkland is dead, and it seems bringing the other into the picture would be tedious and contrived. I don't think the writers will introduce twin Michael (Who just happens to walk, talk, dress, and look precisely like Bob!) as our man. That would be too soap opera-esque. It's difficult to pinpoint a way in which the writers could tie either of the Kirklands back into the story; we don't have enough information.

Smith: Nope. Just nope.

Stiles and Hafner: This is where I'm going to do a bit of guess work. Of the three presumed dead after the explosion at Jane's house, I trust McAllister was the only one to survive. It's been covered here ad nauseam, but it doesn't make sense for McAllister to be dead considering he was pulled aside with Bertrum and Smith, who came away unharmed. McAllister is alive and the promo seems to corroborate that. Now, it is my expectation that Stiles and Hafner are dead -- dead dead. We can assume Jane was standing in the middle of the room with his gun as the bomb went off (Stiles and Hafner were still seated and the three with the "Tyger Tyger" tattoo were positioned along the opposite wall. Jane's injuries were significant enough to land him in the hospital, but not for long. I doubt Stiles and Hafner were so fortunate. Most theories predict the bomb was placed by one of the suspects, meaning Stiles and Hafner would have taken the brunt of the explosion. If Jane was hospitalized with his injuries, Stiles and Hafner would likely have required care as well. I suspect the two are dead, or somehow managed to leave undetected with serious injuries -- injuries that would not have healed for Sunday's reveal. A bit of guess work there. Maybe I'm a bit slanted -- the thought of Jane strangling a 70-year-old and possibly injured Malcolm McDowell makes me cringe.

McAllister and Partridge: I group these two together because I believe they are both living (despite being presumed dead), and are the only realistic and redeeming suspects remaining from Jane's list. It can be assumed McAllister is alive through the promos and his location at the time of the explosion, but many are still skeptical as to Partridge's status. To those skeptics I ask this: Have I made any massive leaps or reached any unwarranted conclusions to this point? I might have taken a few wrong steps, but I think most of what I have theorized is logically based (you may disagree and please comment if you do). If what I have written holds true, then Partridge is almost certainly alive. This theory hasn't required a ton of guess work or time to conceive (it's taken me longer to type out than it did to think through), but I feel confident in dismissing the five suspects I mentioned above. If Red John is not one of those five, but still one of Jane's original seven, then he is either McAllister or Partridge. If Partridge is truly dead, I'm confident McAllister is Red John. But I give the writers a little more credit than that. I don't think they would enter Sunday with one realistic suspect (at least in my mind). That is why Partridge (aside from Cho not verifying his face, and Jane acting suspiciously after seeing the photo of his shoulder) must be alive. He has to be. Otherwise, I can say with a considerable level of confidence that McAllister is Red John, despite having only seen the 20-second promo.

If I'm correct and it comes down to McAllister and Partridge, I think the Fangoria-reading ghoul is our guy. McAllister is alive, but what are the chances CBS would spill the beans by picturing Red John in the promo? Please. McAllister will be in the episode in some capacity. The writers may even try to convince us (briefly) that he is Red John, though I doubt he is. Partridge fits the mold and a number of posts describe why in great detail. But whether Red John is Partridge or someone else, I have a strange feeling Jane has known for a while, and that he's been working through a plan that, once revealed, will fill a lot of plot holes from this season and throughout the series.

I'm not certain, but as a wise man once said, "I figured the odds were 70-30 I was right. I wouldn't call that terrible. A betting man would call that risky, but certainly not terrible."

I think that without a doubt, RJ is Partridge.

Some may think that the idea of making the quirky, mostly creepy, crime scene investigator RJ is too expected. Well, are we not meant to feel in the moment when it comes to the show? How often do we hear of the head of a law enforcement agency is a serial killer? (the head of a ring of dirty cops? We most certainly hear that all of the time and Bertram is certainly the head of The Blake Association.) But how many times do we hear about the crime scene investigator, documentarian, etc being a sick, twisted, cynical, sociopath who enjoys being able to come back and marvel at their work in the public eye. After all, it is one thing for RJ to revisit the scene alone, but it is another when he gets to come back, document, photograph, and flat out glorify the "genius tactics" in the face of the law, quite literally!! Partridge as RJ means he photographs his work to forever memorialize it in his own ideal of his genius ways. So yeah, maybe it's cliche in the sense of television but it is by far the most plausible in real life. I find that more compelling than going out of the way to make some absurd story.

To continue with Bertram for a second, there is just NO WAY! I know people are saying, "Well why would he kill the bartender? Would The Blake Association fake that?" First and foremost, Bertram IS the head of The Blake Association. Do you all easily forget him quoting William Blake for whom the Association is named after? Also, this is why Bertram is so reckless at this point. He knows there is no way out of this situation, he is caught, RJ or not, they know he is a member. Killing the bartender was an easy out considering the bartender would mostly likely call the police and they would at least have a last sighting. The bartender was an expendable nobody. Also, he is still protected by the association whereas Smith is disposable to them...because he is just a low ranking member doing all he can to kiss some ass and work his way up, hence his involvement with Bertram and McAllister.

Now, McAllister is a strong probable for RJ. I could see him as a possible follower or admirer of RJ. I know there are many things that allude to him as RJ BUT I just do not see him fitting the role. He is not afraid of heights, he does not have short straight hair (I know some theories say, well Sophie is right but he may have been there a long time ago. Uhh...no!! Patrick told Rigsby and Van Pelt to look for a new client within the past 5 to 6 months. McAllister has always been rather balding). Also, if RJ was afraid of heights, he would not just rake his confidence to save Patrick on the roof of the church. I am only remotely afraid of heights but I would never do that. I can see McAllister as being a follower to the point that he becomes a decoy to confuse Patrick.

Partridge is perfect for RJ. How many times do we see false plots on The Mentalist where someone is not really dead (Does Hightower ring a bell?), and from there, let's discuss Partridge's death. One, he was the first suspect killed, since I also like the Lisbon is bugged theories, RJ knows he is being traced, so he needs to take himself out of the picture, so he does. He fakes his death. As we know, RJ is protected by The Blake Association so since Patrick was so concerned with Lisbon since she was attacked by RJ at that scene, he ignored examining the body. (Also Lisbon finds Partridge, he falls to the floor, Lisbon turns the other way to check out a room and is hit from behind where Partridge was...too convenient). So Partridge is off the map and free to move as he pleases. Of course Cho checks the body (only the arm NOT the head but I also believe he is working in private with Jane). Being a member of The Blake Association, RJ has all sorts of ins and can falsify any reports and documents. Also, lets go back a bit, when Lorelei was killed, Partridge specifically said it was an inside job. Why say that when it was still a RJ killing? I think he was caught in the moment and made a slip up. Also, not just be a professional and stick to the "it is another RJ killing" HOW MANY TIMES in the past has RJ killed his followers in the same regard? Did Partridge say that was an inside job then? NO! It was this time because it was personal. RJ felt betrayed by Lorelei's infatuation with Patrick. This made RJ feel that Patrick was better than him, it made him feel betrayed, and inferior (just as Patrick ALWAYS made Partridge feel at the crime scenes) and RJ just could not take that. He is egotistical, complicated and most importantly...consistent. Also, Partridge once claimed, "Oh I'm so excited to finally see a RJ crime scene!" Okay, if that does not SCREAM sociopath in of itself...he also says how many RJ scenes he has been to. Another slip up?

Yet ANOTHER Partridge slip up. When he's describing a RJ scene and he's explaining the smiley, he talks about it being clockwise, done in blood, with a rubber kitchen glove. Uhh...why would RJ ever leave or allude to his materials, let alone leave behind evidence that could possibly contain DNA? Partridge's annoyance at Patrick for ridiculing a new RJ style of of surprise. First seeing the body, THEN the smiley. RJ is an artist, indeed (as Patrick said) so RJ would want to alter his art, take new approaches. Partridge's excitement for encountering Jane at a crime scene, his mocking of Patrick's "psychic powers" (the same reason why RJ killed Patrick's wife and daughter), his agreeance and awe in Patrick's way of thinking while playing coy, his annoyance when Jane so quickly dismisses the possibility of an RJ crime scene. How much Partridge enjoys the ways of other killers, his almost euphoric state of admiration for the killing methods of others. Partridge's distaste of the ideal of murder as opposed to "the art of killing". The fact that Lorelei said Patrick and RJ should have been lifelong friends, the quirky way Patrick and Partridge play off of one another. How Partridge entices Patrick to debate on whether a crime scene is RJ or not, how he alludes and claims "Oh, this is not RJ" just to get Patrick to react, a favorite ability of RJ's. How Partridge satirically calls Patrick the RJ expert. Coy and playful, just like RJ.

Oh, and also? RJ's voice? CLEARLY it is the same pitch, tone, and quality as Partridge. The sly, ghoulish, well articulated crime scene investigator/Red John.
