THE THEORIES

I believe Kristina Frye is Red John.

I'm afraid my biggest clue to that is not a very substantial one. You see, Kristina is the only "psychic" who was never exposed by Patrick. He never could prove or play her into giving her act away.

More, that thing about she "dying" and talking to him from the afterlife... Besides the fact that this is weird as hell, Jane also couldn't unmask her there. He always expose people's plays, but for the second time he couldn't do it to her. Her abilities matches his.

I also believe she has not one but many followers close to Jane, and most of them are the ones people believe to be RJ. In fact, I believe Brett Partridge is something like her right arm, and that´s why he can be identified in so many points of the story.

I believe Kristina might send him to do most things, like her puppet. I'm not sure if she does the kills herself of if she sends him to to the dirty work. She also manipulates others, but I think Brett is the most important follower she has.

Also, I believe Jane is about to start thinking that Brett is RJ, but he will find out he was just a puppet, like the guy he killed in the mall.

The other big things that make this possible:
- Listen to the limousine voice, looks feminine and also looks like her way of speaking: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDqVYNtTso4
- When Jane is abducted, the guy in mask who sounds like Brett never disguised his voice, and also never said he was RJ. He talks about Kristina in the present, like she is still alive
- Gave information about Jane's daughter in the night of the murder
- The roll tide phrase
- The fact she went to TV to talk about RJ (so confident, because she know nothing was going to happen)

There are other small things that make sense:
- Painting toenails souns extremely feminine (maybe someone else do the killing and she finishes with that)?
- she just suddenly disappeared from the story
- Too much emphasis on talking about RJ as HIM or HE, maybe to cover up?
- she has red hair
- she plays a "psychic", like jane
- her indifference masked by her spiritualized life can easily cover for a sociopathy

I think if there is any chance Red John turns out to be a woman it has to be Kristina Frye.I didn't think too much of her at first but in the season 2 finale I was really suspicious of her with a lot of things not adding up like at the beginning when she claimed to have read the waiters mind when she said roll tide and later Red John said the same and we now know that Red John is someone Jane knows and he would have recognised RJ at the restaurant but he didn't recognise anyone because there was no on there to recognise just Kristina.

Also in that episode Kristina went on TV about RJ.I can't think of any one that would do that unless they know they won't be killed by RJ which surely means she is RJ or knows him well enough so he won't hurt her which he doesn't because he kills the woman asking the questions.

Kristina is also a tea drinker like Red John and we know she definitely shows an interest in Jane like RJ would and there isn't a better way to get close to Jane as going on a date with him.Kristina also believes she is a psychic and thats how she knows that Jane's wife had her toe nails painted in her own blood so if she isn't psychic she is Red John and Jane doesn't think she is psychic but just good at guess work like Jane so both ways she still could be Red John.

If she isn't Red John she had to be involved somehow.

In order to figure out who RedJohn is, you first have to figure out who RedJohn isn't.  Despite what apparently most people believe, it can't possibly be Jane for a couple reasons: 1) what would the point of joining the CBI team be?  There's no game there, and the one thing we REALLY know for sure about RJ is that he enjoys the game. and 2) the crew that created this show have made 4 and a half seasons so far of beautifully written, works of art.  Making Patrick Jane RJ ends the show.  And Bruno Heller said he will be revealing who RJ is in one of the next two seasons.

It can't be anyone from Lisbon's team or Lisbon because they each have alibis for most of the RJ events that take place in real time during the show.  A lot of people think it's Van Pelt, but remember - Jane's wife and child were murdered more than 10 years ago, and RJ had already killed 8 women at that point.  Van Pelt is far too young.  Cho would be a lame RJ suspect so forget that one, and Rigsby has been in my head a few times, but I don't think he could play the big loveable dummy like that - i think he really is just a goofball.

Kristina Frye on the other hand is a very possible suspect.  A lot of people have made a very good point saying that she and Jane have a similar set of skills, which they do.  The only difference (AND THIS IS KEY) is that Kristina truly believes her powers to be real.  She honestly thinks she is psychic.  Red John and all of his disciples show no remorse for they're horrible crimes.  They honestly believe they aren't doing anything "wrong".  It's a very similar mindset.

Kristina mentions to Jane, in an attempt to prover her "psychicness" "you credit me with far too much cunning..." - trying to say that she's just psychic - not brilliant and manipulative.  But that is the point - she WANTS Jane to think she's just some crazy woman who thinks she's psychic when in truth she is brilliant and manipulative.  RedJohn mentions to Jane that he doesn't believe in an afterlife -  that he won't be punished for his "sins" on Earth.  Let's just assume for a minute that Kristina is RedJohn, wouldn't it be genius of her to convince Jane that RJ doesn't believe in the afterlife, and then whenever she's with him acts like a psychic who DOES believe in the afterlife?  It completely eliminates her as a suspect in Jane's mind.

Now of course there are only only 2 problems with it being a woman: 1) the fact that we've heard RJ's voice and.....eh.  It's hard to tell.  There is a video on Youtube that compares the voices and it makes a pretty good case for officer Brett Partridge.  But voices can be deceiving, and with technology it can be impossible to tell - remember the Scream movies?  Scream 2 one of the killers was the news reporter lady, but she had one of those voice changer things.  I know that those don't really exist, some can lower or raise the pitch of your voice but who knows how realistic they're going to be with this show.  And 2) Rosalind Harker slept with the suspected RedJohn under the alias name of Roy Tagliaferro.  Unless Kristina is packing something we don't know about, the only explanation is that Roy Tagliaferro isn't Red John.  He could be a disciple of RJ or he could just be a regular guy who knows nothing about RedJohn - but RedJohn knows him, and just uses his name.

So with the exception of the voice issue and the whole Rosalind Harker thing.  A lot of other arrows are pointing towards Kristina Frye.  But it'd be no fun if we figured it out now.  I honestly can't wait for Bruno to reveal who it is, I know for sure that they will or already have chosen someone great.

if the character who saves jane from the slasher film makers wasn't a proxy then red john is kristina frye. same skill set as jane, the rescuer was female, in too many cases to be a coincidence (as jane would tell you there are no coincidences) and she has red hair.

My wife and I both are convinced that it is Kristina Frye and have been for a long time. I am glad to see that others are also thinking along the same lines. I am hopeful that the writers won't see these theories and go off on some BS tangent. As stated in other theories:

She knows far too much about the wife and daughters murders, Jane, who doesn't believe in psychics, seems strangely ignorant of this.

Red John typically kills women and then paints their toenails, I hardly believe that a male would do this.

Kristina is conveniently knowledgable about far too many of Red John's murders.

As previously stated feminine voice.

Writers seem to insist on using the terms "him" or "he" and seem to high light this.

As previously stated has access to high value people to use in her web.

I don't know if she has ability to hypnotize (I can't remember seeing it) but with her background, it would be useful in turning said high value targets.

This are my thoughts, let me know if they are yours.

Through all this  ive held onto is 2 words spoken by RJ when he saved him from the slasher film buffs,2 words only 2 people could have known .After walking away he comes back and  tells patrick that a friend says "roll tide"

This was a phrase that Kristina said to Patrick as they were having dinner before she was kidnapped, She is very smart and has same skill set a Jane and the ability to control  people with her ways. but this was her slip up ! only 2 people were there with no chance of being overheard.
