I think it's always been Patrick Jane, I think he's had a split personality and he's unaware of it. When it comes to the crunch and James finally found out, I think Lisbon will allow him
To escape or she'll leave with him because she loves him

First of all I would like to say that the rest of the theories were amazing and very convincing to read. Thanks for the deep insight on the plots.
I believe that the red john is either Patrick Jane himself, or a inside member of CBI that Jane has been working with all along. Just a quick tangent- do any of you know why the episodes after the red john episode aren't with a form of red in the title?the titles are either green or something else with different colors. I thought that was interesting.
The amount of episodes and seasons put into just one villain makes me feel like the creators had in mind that they wouldn't give us a direct list of the people to expect. Why would they make it easy for us to figure our red john? Jane could have an alter-ego self that knew everything about him and was the reason why he can't defeat this villain. Being the genius that he is, jane would make the perfect Red John. Red john needs to be someone that we never expect and thst knows Jane so well that he predicts what he will do at every moment.
My other theory is that it might be a partner of jane that he works close with such as Lisbon or Grisby. Lisbon knows Jane so well that Jane trusts her fully and would never doubt her. She is at all times is knowing what. Jane is doing and Jane looks at her as a partner to stop the villain. She would be a perfect villain working in the back scene without a suspicion by Jane that she is red john.
Ps, I found the reed smith translation of his name into the red or whatever very interesting considering the amour of symbolism used in the shoe such as Tiger, Tyger. The creators are smart.
PLEASE LEAVE FEEDBACK AND ANSER MY QUESTIONS, I AM DYING TO KNOW!!!!
RJ is Patrick Jane and Bret Stiles is his father. İt is meaningful that Stiles is dying, and he knows that his son is RJ. As he said to Patrick "my boy" in the last episode. Patrick has the same abilities like hypnoze and reading minds as his father. He hyonotized the three people who has three dots on their shoulders, and the rest of the tiger tiger group. He has a double character. Lorelie was RJ 's lover as she was a romance with Patrick Jane. Bob Kirkland was the only person who was investigating that RJ was Patrick Jane and he was killed by the Patrick's group tiger tiger. That is it...
I cannot truthfully say I've watched every single episode but I've watched most of them and simply feel that I'd like Patrick Jane to be Red John. I appreciate Bruno Heller says we can 'trust the list' but I would truly be disappointed if it were any of the Seven. None of them seem worthy or charismatic enough.
Even if we saw it coming miles away, I wouldn't be in the least disappointed to discover PJ had an evil alter-ego. It would make so much sense.
I am however disappointed that this latest series can't be aired in the UK as early as it is in the US. The US will know the answer weeks before I will, here on the sunny east coast of England. I wonder how many other British viewers will log on to find who the killer is, long before the relevant program actually airs! I think I will!
As much as I hate waiting an extra week for the final showdown, this break gives us an extra week to re-watch some of the older episodes and appreciate the show for what it's given us. Some of us have been waiting years for this moment, and for Jane it's been lifetimes. It is really something to go back and watch the first episodes, seeing just how far Jane has come in his hunt for justice and vengeance and what this means to him. CBS has done us a favour, the Red John episode will only come once and we need to fully appreciate this final chapter. It's like waiting for Christmas. The wait is the greatest part.

Patrick could easily be Red John. With a combination of a psycopathic psychosis and with all of these "disciples" that Red John has, he doesn't have to actually kill anyone himself, he gets others to do it. Even when he is supposedly face to face to Red John, he could have ordered one of this disciples to capture Jane and do this. I don't think that anyone knows he is Red John, everything is done anonymously. Let's face it, it would be one of those moments like "The Prisoner" back in the '60's or Fight Club from the 90's. Jane is a mentalist, creating great illusion is what he is best at. It is always said that the Red John type of killer always likes to insert themselves into the centre of any investigation.
The only possibility that it isn't anyone on the list is Jane. It would make complete sense that he is crazy and is indeed Red John. The story is told from his point of view. Who says he is a reliable narrator? Makes me think back to the Usual Suspects when we thought we knew where the story was headed.
Also, found this interesting clip which just confirms my suspicions.
