On the Dictaphone Sophie said the man was a good whistler. When she says this they show Sheriff McAllistor whistling. However if you look back at the scene where Haffner goes to see Lisbon at the hospital, in addition to the creepy feeling and the dream, Haffner exits the room whistling. Whistling!

This is just my theory. Personally i think its Haffner. Add up with the whole visualise and him being in the private sector plus now the whistling makes him RJ for me

Did you see Haffner's reaction when Lisbon said :"Red John isn't so tough, he barely laid a hand on me"? It was like he got insulted.

Its good to start and see the suspects more, we’ve been
seeing alot of Bertram lately. In episode 2 we are introduced to ray, reed and sheriff,
of course we haven’t seen any of bret styles yet but thats definitely
coming.  Its still very hard to be sure
who is RJ as there is only one!  In
episode 2 RJ spared Lisbons life, either he changed his mind, or couldn’t go
through with it. Maybe he like Jane has feelings for her. I suspected Ray
Hafner for several reasons, he in her dream conscious was the one who murdered
her; when he entered the hospital to visit Lisbon he had a weird way about him,
which hes always had. almost like its RJ. They way he smirks, and reads Lisbons
nerves without a sense of fear, only a person guilty and RJ would be fearless
in face of confrontation, almost still like a game to him. He says something
off as e leaves, ‘’ either way we will have that meeting’’ or something along
those lines. Also though we never realised but we saw alot of him in the CBI
visiting Bertham or whoever. RJ is  always close keeping an eye on things.



That scene where they are all sat together in bertham office
 confirms the fact that it cant be any of
them. Sheriff looks clueless, reed seems like a uncontrollable temperamental
cop but not a genius, and bertham is far from it yet deep in it... he may even
be next on RJ hit list.



Conspiracy theory I think is as follows: Berthram, reed and
the sheriff are all controlled and monopolized by RJ. He as many say has
evidence one them being corrupters, and so they must comply, its like berthram
for the 2nd time reminds Jane to keep him up to date with the case.  Not sure where Kirkland lies in this, perhaps
hes RJ new second man or he’s against RJ ( for his own reasons). Bret styles is
somewhere in this yet we don’t know, is he good or bad. To be continued..thats
my take....



Its hard to really know whats going on, the writer has been
really smart up to now, hes thrown all sorts of clues to keep us wondering yet
we haven’t seen the half of it yet, thats for certain.

Of course its ray haffner !!! Everyone has already put why it is him because of evidence found within the show, but its also the actual name of the actor playing ray haffner (REEDE DIAMOND) !!! Take away from just two E's and there is RED..

I think RJ has dirt on many of the suspects and they would rather turn a blind eye than lose everything. Corruption seems more likely than plain evil? They have covered for him but now that he is starting to make mistakes/lose the plot they are panicking and that is why Reede said what he did to Bertram. Possibly the same with Stiles.The one person in common, between CBI and Visualize who hasn't been in Bertram's meetings/spoke to him about it/is now dead, is Ray Haffner! However, I'd like to see something totally out of the blue - PJ's dad? Danny Ruskin? Walter Mashburn? Kristina Frye? Rosalind Harker? - I think those two women are suspicious...

Going back to the scene, when Gale Bertram, Reed Smith and Thomas McCallister are having their meeting;

Smith asks "Exactly how much does Jane know" to which Bertram replies "that is the queston isn't it" and smith replies "It is your job to find out".

For me, this was an important scene because it looked like Sheriff McCallister had no idea what was going on but Reed smith was curious to know what Jane had figured out. I think Smith is Rj's insider inside the CBI.

Smith was almost directly threatening Bertram so I don't think Bertram is RJ, that not his personality but I get the feeling Bertram is also trying to spy on Jane.

My bet is still on Ray Haffner since he came to visit Lisbon and mentioned how 'lucky' she was to be alive. it would make sense...
