THE THEORIES

Not Stiles because he's not very physical. But law enforcement can certainly carry more than one weapon apiece.
Since that reviewer fellow on youtube said a question from season 2 gets answered, today I am rewatching season 2.

Walter Mashburn
It is actually too funny. I remember the day when I saw Walter Mashburn  for the first time, I thought this guy has resources and loves the thrill of a crime scene he gives Patrick Jane a beautiful car he has to be Red John. And then I typed the name Walter Mashburn in google and I was shocked by the google suggestion that I thought I saw one of the biggest spoilers in my life... Mashburn is Red John. And I needed to see the remaining season, because the season was already ended. Gladly it was not the case and Red John was still a mystery.

Ray Haffner
After a while Mashburn just disappeared, the only time we could see his name on the little notebook of Jane who is suspected to be RJ. And then a guy named Ray Haffner got a lot of screen time with some very good characteristics. He is like Patrick Jane's rival in looks and brains. Somehow he gets really insecure when he talks to Teresa or sees a spider, so there is a human side hidden in him. It's just like he is supposed to be Red John.

Brett Stiles
He helped Patrick a lot, he helped Lorelei escape. But just one thing bothers me, when he talks to Jane he really talks about Red John as a third person. It could be him, but I will talk about that later :P..

The Sheriff McAllister(reminds me of Home Alone 1 and 2 lol)
I really like this character. He just loves to hunt and it is like he is really intelligent you can see it in some scenes but he just tries to hide it by acting ignorant. I have read many books and it is always quite scary when a Sheriff of a little town has a secret agenda. It's like a big home where he can be himself and relax. And the actor who plays the Sheriff is just awesome, just try to look whenever McAllister squints his eyes it's like that little bit of Red John that you'll see once in a few times. In episode 3 you saw the Sheriff challenging Patrick Jane about the crime scene, it was like a mini game they loved to play together.

Whoisredjohn.com
This is the funny part. The people on this site always figure out to amaze me,  The theories I've read are really thoroughly written. If you're a neutral person you would really believe that all the seven persons are in fact Red John. Somehow I honestly believe that Heller is sometimes looking on this site to see how his viewers are thinking. Maybe someone even got the whole Red John part right.

Bertram
That Bertram though lol it's like he has a fetish to see how Patrick discovers Red John, every time those eyes and smile are creepy. When Patrick saw those three dots Bertram was like evil o.O Reede Smith was grumpy like always and Thomas was Patrick it's not what you think.

I had an idea, if Patrick somehow already knows who Red John is then we should look at his body language in front of those people where his confidence will lower significantly.

There is still that one riddle that won't slip my mind. When Kirkland brought three coffee mugs, he somehow expected a third person. Who would that be? *suspense sound....*

We should respect Heller for the fact that already two suspects are dead. Don't make yourself disappointed if you want a  dead person to be Red John. Let's just see what the next episode will bring us. With every episode the majority change their opinion who Red John is, no wonder that is the intention of the writes.

Just enjoy, be patient they are all good characters to be Red John,. *cough* not Reede Smith  *cough*
I do hope it's Ray or the Sheriff, it doesn't matter who it is. I just want to see an episode through their eyes. To see Red John being Red John.

We've heard Red John's voice before and it doesn't match up with any of the suspects. How will the show resolve this?
Woodruff:
We definitely will deal with that, and I think it's done in a really, really great way that's going to be coming up in [Episode 8]. ... We were very aware of that and conscious of it going forward and in dealing with Red John and [his] voice and all that stuff. So it definitely pays off, and faithful viewers will, I think, be satisfied by it.

I think they're actually saying "In your face Partridge-sounding-like-Red-John believers!" (Or maybe it's just a mislead?). Even though by the end of season 05, I had already made up my mind on Partridge being RJ for different reasons, now I think he's really dead. So I go all-in with Haffner.

I hope they give us a damn good explanation with the voice!

Since they don't have the tattoo, can Stiles and Haffner be ruled out as suspects at this point, or is that jumping the gun?
Woodruff:
I
think it might be jumping the gun, only because as soon as more than
one person has the tattoo, it sort of throws into question the whole
theory that Jane's been operating on up until this moment. So I wouldn't
throw it out ... just given the nature of our show and how we twist
things around, and Red John as a character, how sort of capable and
deceitful he's been able to be all these years. Don't forget, Jane's
been in the place where he's been 100 percent positive of Red John
before and he was wrong. So I wouldn't underestimate Red John.

You guys r awesome! I would not have noticed Bertram reaching twice to the floor or Haffner innocently showing his shoulder but in the exact line of dots (guiltily) or gone to see the Blake dragon picture if you all had not pointed them out. Thx

Fans, join me in this post. Here's the list of 7 suspects. I am going to put my top 3 items that I think supports the character being RJ along with my top 3 ruling the character out as RJ. Just click the comments and copy and paste my list with your edits. I think it is a neat way to see what kind of lists people come up with while taking into account others' lists.
In no order:

Reed Smith
pro:
1. He's the least suspected
2. His split-personality of RJ would make for a dramatic acting performance that could blow us away
3. Tagliaferro is and anagram for Feraligater (a monster from pokemon). Weighing in at about 400LBS, Reede is the most similar looking to a monster
No:
1. Too little backstory for him on the show
2. No resemblance to Rosalinds description (buzzed hair/poor posture)
3. There would have to be some thing to make us believe someone would think PJ and RS would shake hands and become lifelong friends.

Brett Stiles
pro-
1. Has a 'charismatic follow me' character that could translate to RJ.
2. Could be an intellectual equal to PJ as I assume RJ would be (or almost be)
3. Tremendous resources
No-
1. Too obvious from his introduction
2. Does not fit Rosalinds descript (bad posture, spikey hair)
3. As head of visualize, he's already at a grander standing than I beleive he would feel he would be as the RJ serial killer/adversary to PJ.

Ray Haffner
pro-
1. Fits Rosalind and Loreliel descriptions to me (good posture, short straight hair). "Lifelong friends" I could see this as I believe the comment implies similar age and that the handshake took place a long time ago. I think Haffner has the least unique looks, making him easy to forget from a childhood handshake.
2. TV guide quote about the kill scene sounds homoerotic in a weird way (to me). I picture this scene taking place between PJ and someone who is his aesthetic equal (or nearly equal).
3. Again with the "lifelong friends" idea, Hafner is very similar toward the significant female characters as Jane is. He is playfully dismissive, confident/arrogant in a some what flirty way toward Lisbon (and to a lesser degree Van Pelt).
No-
1. Seems plain guy next door (relative to other suspects) and has been bested by Jane in some less relevant moments of the show.
2. In the scene where RJ is masked and saving PJ, RJ moves and talks in a way that is hard for me to see as Hafner.
3. He doesn't fit any cliche (like the spooky forensic guy or head of agency turned bad guy), which means Heller has really done a bang up job of creating an original character switch. i'm just not sure Heller (who has done a great job) is wuaite that original/imaginative.

Bob/Michael Kirkland
Pro-
1. Given that the three people present at his murder where all of questionable character, this allows some chance that his death is staged (though I doubt it)
2. The idea that they may be twins and one or both may be alive or dead creates an interesting story to dive into and him being the only one not on the map with a bugged/GPS phone is interesting)..
3. The "do you recognize me" stuff leaves unanswered questions
No-
1. We saw him die
2. Doesn't fit Rosalind's Description (bad posture, coiffed puffy styled hair)
3. His ChristopherWalken-ness makes his seem like a set-up red herring

Brett Partridge
Pro-
1. The forensics guy/secret killer thing has been done to death (L&O SVU, Dexter to name a few), so maybe Heller ripped off the idea/cliche
2. Seems like a lurksome shady kind of guy which fits the behavior of RJ in the scene where PJ is saved from the film students.
3. He has forensic backround giving him ability to potentially being a good serial killer
No-
1. he's dead, we saw him breathe his last breath and saw Lisbon watch him as he died and after he died.
2. Someone else was in the room when Partridge died (we know this because the bathroom door opens) If he was faking his death, I don't think he'd have a second person there with him.
3. Does not fit physical descriptions (poor posture).

Gale Bertram
Pro -
1. Head of CBI gives him good resources.
2. Seems very confident and in control
3. When confronted in his office with the other 3-dotters, it seemed to me Reede was saying "you are the leader...you should be responsible for..."
No-
1. For me, there's no-way a RJ would lower/diminish him self to carry the same mark as other "deviants." It totally diminishes the character that we've been introduced to as RJ.
2. He is so out in public, so accomplished in his career and promotions that he seems to be the character most likely to be unable to have his time at the Vizualize farm not documented and that at the time the farm murder went on, he must have already been working on his law enforcement career.
3. Dose not fit physical descriptions(bald) and seems to not fit the behavior/movement of the masked RJ (to me...)

Sherriff McAllister...I leave him to others to comment on as I have run out of steam...
