Uh!!! I see many people saying that the man in the church and the man that Jane hunts is not the same... and that Red John would never ask for mercy...!!!
OK OK... Red John is not afraid for his life he is afraid of dieing and losing the credit for his precious work... Imagine Bertram taking the credit for Red John;s work!!!
That's his worst nightmare he can't stand dieing and losing the credit for his work that's why he is asking for mercy, because Jane shot him and told him that none else will find out his true ID. That's what Red John is afraid of, that's his true nightmare and its Jane's gift to him.
PS: That's not my theory although  I agree 100% with that, I remember reading it in this site some wees ago.

Ok let's clear things up...
Bertram tries to vanish and he needs money for that. He goes into a storage service and he uses a card with the name Thomas. Thomas?! What?!

Ofc its McAlister's card so It's McAlister's vault. That's why he has all these bottles of wine there... because he is from Napa, the wine country.

Later in the day Patrick goes to the news and says that we know who Red John is... he is Gale Bertram and exactly after that incident Cho, Van Pelt and Rigsby find an encrypted file to McAllister's vault. McAllister (or Red John to me) knows that they won't be able to crack it and they will send it to Jane.

Ofc Jane will easily decode and and guess what?McAlister aka Red John wants a private meeting with Jane so he can tell him that he won the game because Patrick guess wrong about Bertram that's why he can hear Red John in 6x08 promo saying: "It's over, I won the game!" because he thinks that Jane has guessed wrong.

The encrypted file tells all about the time and place which of course is a church because Red John doesn't think that Patrick will shoot him inside a sacred place.
Funny thing is that at the last scene of 6x07 Patrick tells Teresa to let it go and that the encrypted file is just a waste of time. And that makes absolute sense because Patrick wants Red John for himself and he wouldn't like Lisbon to decode it and spoil the moment. :)

The promo for 1x08 is really clear; it's McAllister. And Xander Berkely is an AWESOME actor, so this coming episode is gonna be great. 

However, I wonder if we are gonna find out how RJ know the names before PJ did. It's been a really large secret, even larger than RJ himself.

1) Why sheriff rescued PJ at the rooftop?
because he wanted PJ to continue "his game", not being blown by some lowlife figure. This shows how strongly he wanted him alive, even though fear of heights.

Remember some theories, that at first seasons "Red John" didn't like Patrick, but in time, he realized that PJ is what makes his life fullfiled and started to like him? That is the change what we see in T. McAllister.

2)The shotgun shot in PJ house?
What I think happened: (we don't see it, just hear the shot) There is a dialogue there, where PJ realizes that McAllister is a red john, T.M makes a move or distorition of some sort, Patrick shots but misses (since he is a lousy gun shooter as we know it), the bomb goes off. T.M pulls the strings so everyone thinks he is the third victim. But PJ knows and Gale knows the truth. Now it's Patricks Final mind game to lure him out and catch him. He knows Bertram isn't RJ, but suspects he murdered his wife and daughter.

The conlusion:
T. McAllister is Red John.
Gale killed PJ wife and daughter.

I'm all ears to your arguments.

Remember this is his normal voice, try to imagine when he makes an effort to make it a little higher. You even hear that little hoarse noise in his voice.
