THE THEORIES

What about the gunshot in the house? We have not heard anything about that. Maybe McAllister got himself shot on purpose so he could leave his DNA behind, making everyone think he died.

I'm not sure if I'm seeing things but when Lisbon found Patrick Jane after the explosion, it looked like someone walked past behind Lisbon, I think that is RJ.

Also if Haffner and Stiles are dead, then what was the point of that occult ceremony? Does it not mean anything?

About this episode's title:

This episode was called 'The Great Red Dragon'. When you look that up, it is a novel by THOMAS Harris. It is a book that involves a character named
Francis Dolarhyde who has an obsession with the painting (William Blake painting 'The Great Red Dragon and the Woman Clothed in the Sun')
Dolarhyde also develops a relationship with a BLIND female coworker named Reba McClane.

Also this episode I found Grace was acting
a little weird and suspicious. The detective said that an informant or sources at
the CBI told him that they were on their way (to capture Reede Smith), but only
Van Pelt and Rigsby knew of this. Grace also found Reede Smith's wherabouts pretty
quickly, looking at old case files. I mean how did she know to look there? I
really think she is working with RJ. She seemed very strange to me the first episode
of season 1 where she got defensive when her and Jane were discussing the afterlife and her cousin being psychic. She is a big believer in psychic powers and RJ seems to imply that he is psychic. She also called Patrick Jane a sad
man. She said "
you poor sad man, the Kingdom of God is a real place". She said it exactly how RJ would say it.

Plus she has red hair and
RJ has a thing for reds (e.g. Rosalind). Not only that but McAllister seemed to be fixated on her as well (second episode of season 1).

Finally the announcement of Gale Bertram as RJ by
Patrick Jane was a bit out of character. Don't you think he would not want to
alert anyone in case someone else killed Bertram before he got to him? I think he is using it as a way to get to the real RJ.

We can see here that Red John is wounded http://o1311.hizliresim.com/1h/l/unkm2.jpg  :

Whoever Jane shot before the explosion is RED JOHN and i believe it's Thomas McAllister.

But what happened there? Did McAllister attack Jane? we hear someone scream NO WAIT!,you wont have time to say that because if someone attack Jane he will shoot instantly!.

The episodes going so fast leaving so much behind.

Looks like the ol' Sheriff is Red John, based on the curious hairline of the man Jane is chasing in the promo for "Red John" (episode) next week. Bertram is probably just a final misdirection.

It's sort of disappointing. I mean, I guess in a way it makes sense. Wears the kind of boots RJ wore in the S2 finale. Smells of "pine and earth" like Rosalind Harker described. Good whistler. Has a phobia. Fits together. Guy even prefers to refer to Patrick on a first name basis, wants to be friendly with him, gain his confidence.

My biggest problem, though, is... who is Thomas McAllister?! I mean, he's in the second ever episode of the show in a non-RJ-related case, has NOTHING to do with Red John, doesn't even appear in person again until this season. Why was he even on the suspect list to begin with?! He's a nobody! But not like, you know, a "yeah, he's a nobody, so he's perfect", but just a NOBODY. That's like Red John being, I don't know... the Russian gangster from S1, Shirali Arlov. What a random character to make RJ. The writers might as well just admit they themselves had no idea who it would be until now.

During tonight's episode I had a feeling that it might be Sheriff McAllister because of an interesting clue. Notice all of the bottles of wine in Bertram's storage vault... who is the Sheriff in Napa Valley, wine country? Sheriff McAllister.

Bruno Heller's favourite singer is Bob Marley

That is why he intends McAllister to be Red john, so that after killing him, Patrick can sing

"I shot the Sheriff"

But finding out from the promo that McAllister s RJ is a dissapointment. More so McAllister as RJ is a dissapointment, not that he can't pull off the role, but heller made us believe he is someone who is very intrinsic to the plot and not someone like the Sheriff who appears lesser times on the series than Cho's smile.

From the Promo this is RJ aka McAllster. Link courtesy Theory #11884

Haha, yes! Gonna gloat for a moment.

As many have freeze framed the promo and seen that RJ is the Sheriff.

This is setting up to be an epic ending to this story. Also was a nice tease thrown out as Bertram being "Mr. Thomas" at the storage facility. I love this show, and Red John's real voice. Let's face it, McAllister has had the best scenes with Hane this season.

Can't believe they put that shot in the promo though.
